4 out of 5 eggsSuper deal in this price point

Pros: I had been running the Hanns-G HL248 monitors as a pair prior to totally upgrading the mobo/CPU. This one was added as a third. The 248's are on either side, and the 249 in the center. There is about an inch difference in height on this monitor, but that is not problematic.

As others have said, coming factory preset this monitor is WAY TOO BRIGHT, and the contrast simply meh... I have reduced to 50% brightness and 70% contrast and it is now simply stunning. A tweak or two of the color settings and now all three are perfectly balanced. A solid buy at a great price.

Cons: Field of view is rather narrow before brightness and color rendition begin to wash out. Not so much of an issue if you are front viewing in a typical workspace configuration.

Brightness must be adjusted down and contrast balanced. Not an OOTB joy. There is some smearing with text while scrolling, but no noticeable issue on video. Can't comment on games as I am not an enthusiast.

No DVI cable in the box--but a VGA one is included. This is a joke right? Monitor has DVI connector--it's 2013 folks--time to get with the program and throw the right connection cable into the deal.

Don't waste your time with the speakers. Tried them out just because of the comments. Speakers do not belong in monitors anyway...

Other Thoughts: Overall great deal for workstation computing, surfing, HD video watching, and probably simple gaming. If you are considering multiple monitors snap them up now before Hanns moves on from this model and changes the stand height again

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent with only minor cons.

Pros: Excellent picture quality
Great contrast
Amazing color
Great Price and Size

Cons: No DVI/HDMI cable
There appears to be a scratch on the lower left side so some pixels are dead there?
Power button seems to not work sometimes have to click it a few times.

Other Thoughts: The scratch is disappointing but other than that it is a beautiful monitor.

2 out of 5 eggsIf Lost At Sea

Pros: If you are lost at sea, you could use this as a strobing rescue buoy.

Need to read in the dark? Sorted!

But as a monitor, it is an abomination.

Cons: Who thought this was a good idea? Take a cheap LCD monitor and like shoved an incandescent bulb up its' behind.

It is blindingly white, and seriously has little contrast and washes the black out of the everything, you get like a dishwater grey.

Other Thoughts: If you are running this as your only monitor, and have young eyes this might work for you. But in a multi-monitor, over 30 environment I'd run away.

I paid to return the wretched thing.

2 out of 5 eggswashed out coloring /horrible speakers

Pros: Price. Good Size. No power brick.

Cons: Washed out colors. Worthless speakers. Terrible sound quality. Only came with a standard vga cable. No HDMI inputs, but I knew this before buying it.

Other Thoughts: I have a spree monitor that is the same size. I thought they were the same company, but this one pales in comparison.
Oh, did I mention pale? That's because it is. My other monitor gives a vibrant picture that is better than my television. This one..... Well, it will do as a secondary backup monitor.

Now let me get to the speakers. I don't even like calling them speakers. My other monitor was the same way, so I wasn't expecting perfection. However, I would like to throw their quote back and them and ask them where the "high-quality built-in stereo speakers for rich stereo sound" ended up, because it definitely isn't in the monitor that I received. Before you buy this monitor, take your smartphone and turn on some music to about half volume, maybe 3/4 if your phone isn't very loud. Now go get an empty tin can. Put said music-playing smart phone into the tin can. If this is your desired effect, then you have the perfect monitor here.
Oh, but make sure you DO NOT WANT BASS. I opened wmplayer, nothing fancy or high end. I started a song playing, and even tried various styles of music; guitar metal to classic rock. I went into the graphic equalizer on the program and turned up the bass. It distorted so bad that the music actually faded out of audible levels.
I am seriously contemplating looking online for smart phone speakers to replace the ones in this monitor, because I believe it would be THAT MUCH of a worthwhile improvement. Slightly washed out colors is acceptable, but in this day and age I've heard better sound quality from TEESHIRTS!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsEggcellent price-quality ratio

Pros: Price, large viewing screen, low-heat LED display, sturdy stand, blacks are black, bright display, color is fine, wide viewing angle - the LED is very noticeably cool compared to my previous LCD monitor which gave off heat. No comment on the speakers. I use 2.1 external speakers and would never listen to music through a monitor's speakers anyway.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I was reluctant to buy an LED display because of the mixed reviews about the "blacks" appearing washed out and not exactly black. I can't tell the difference with this display and my previous 22.5" Acer LCD which I'm still using. Black is black even with a contrast and brightness above 50%. I'm using the factory settings and it looks great. As listed above, everything that concerns me is perfect. 3-year warranty exceeds most other brands. I highly recommend this for a monitor under $150.

5 out of 5 eggsGood for me

Pros: Cheap has dvi and vga as stated on page. Hi def. Bought another one after the first so had to leave another review. Great color perfect size.

Cons: none so far.

Other Thoughts: Bought one of these and liked it so much i went ahead and bought another. I use the dvi ports for both and have set on 1080. Very bright had to turn both down a bit from factory. The menua has all the settings you want. I dont use the speakers as i have a 525 watt 5.1 surround hooked up to computer. I play a few games once in a while like BBC2 and LFD2 and Bioshock infinate no gohsting on any of them. You get what you paid for usually except this time i came out way ahead.

1 out of 5 eggsWhere is HDMI

Pros: A good LED Monitor with speakers

Cons: How to connect to the speakers without HDMI. It seems like all the low price monitors have no HDMI, ever though, almost every device is output to HDMI only.

2 out of 5 eggsConsider Carefully

Pros: Average product

Cons: Hanns-G have sent them 2 emails about a problem with my monitor and have never received a reply. With out customer service just what do you have? My advise due business with companies that want your business now and tomorrow.

Other Thoughts: Consider another product.

2 out of 5 eggsDied after 4 days

Pros: Fantastic picture. Vivid brightness (level can be turned down).

Cons: Monitor died after 4 days of use. On-screen menus would not even display. I've RMA'd this back to Newegg for a replacement. I'm hoping I have better luck the second time.
