4 out of 5 eggsGreat IPS panel for the money

Pros: Colors are great, and i'd expect nothing less from an ips monitor. Packaging was good, fit to deal with some rough shipping. You would be hard pressed to do better for the money.

Cons: Stand is downright awful, and the reason for four eggs. The monitor wobbles from side to side if the surface it is on moves a small amount. I still use the standard stand and its something that you can live with but some people may want to purchase a better stand or at least modify the included one to better support the monitor.

Other Thoughts: Great for the price, would buy again.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good

Pros: My super tech geek friend turned me to this monitor for my gaming needs on my current budget and claimed it was the best bang for my buck, so I went for it. Before this I was using my 42" TV and while great for RPGs, Shooters were a pain and I keep the sucker on my desk so it was causing me to have headaches being so close.

Anyway, this monitor overall is pretty awesome, but I really don't understand the IPS hype. Maybe because it's just my first "bamf" monitor and I can't tell the amazing extras, but it just looks like a mini version of my 42 which is just an LED 1080p.

Cons: I knocked an egg off because I feel the price is a bit too much. If it's on super sale I'd say 100% go for it, otherwise I'd look elsewhere.

PS
I dont know why people are complaing about the stand. It works fine for me and I have no wobbling taking place at all unless I kick or shove my desk lol.

Other Thoughts: Unless you're a hardcore mega PC gamer with a $1200+ rig and freaks out if colors aren't 100%, I feel like I can honestly say if you're on a tight budget, that you could go for a cheaper monitor so long as it has 1080p. I don't mean to be negative in this review, it really is an amazing monitor but I just wanted to give my honest opinion.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS Monitor

Pros: Great monitor, does everything it needs to do.
Great display, and I've never had a problem with it. Owned it for nearly 2 years now. No signs of use on it yet.

Cons: I recently went back to my purchase another monitor to run dual monitors, because I love it so much, but the price sky rocketed? I have no idea why the price went up, but I remember paying about $120 ballpark for it. I hope to see the price drop so I can pick myself up another.

Other Thoughts: Very good on games. Along side my video card, I've been able to run any game I've ever owned on ultra graphics with amazing display.
5/5 Eggs :)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: - Beautiful display, and that is with next to no change of setting on my part.
- Matte display helps keep those pesky reflections at bay
- Monitor looks good from an aesthetics point of view.

Cons: - The bezel could be a bit thinner, and the stand is mediocre for a panel of this quality.

Other Thoughts: The response time if fine for gaming, I can't really tell a difference compared to an old 2 ms panel.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Monitor I have Owned

Pros: MASSIVE! (In a good way)
Colors
Contrast
Sharpness
Viewing Angles
Settings
Customization
Usage Profiles

Cons: Weak Base, wobbles easily
Could use a thinner bezel

Other Thoughts: I had just bought a brand new $1,200 gaming PC and I wanted a nice monitor to pair with. From the moment I turned it on, even the black BIOS screen looked amazing. The viewing angles are very nice, definitely an IPS only guy after owning one. I play many games and movies, this monitor gets the most out of my equipment.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic

Pros: Color
Overall Image Quality
Viewing Angles
Matte Screen
Relatively thin
ZERO Dead or Lit Pixels

Cons: Wobbles if bumped
Bezel could be a little thinner

Other Thoughts: I wanted to wait about a week before writing this review. I see too many people get a product and have a review up fifteen minutes after they start using it.

For around $150, I don't think there is a better monitor available. Sure you can get other Asus models that have a faster response time, but they do not offer the color and viewing angles that this does.

I'm comparing this monitor to three other screens. My Lenovo laptop screen, a 19 inch TN BenQ, and another Asus that uses a TN panel.

Of those three, the Asus comes closest in terms of quality, but closest is relative. Even though this is a cheaper IPS panel, it's still leagues ahead of the standard TN Panels. Just depends on what you value more. I play a decent amount of PC games and while the 2ms of the other Asus is better, the 5ms of this IPS panel is not dramatically worse. The average gamer won't have any issues.

I haven't noticed any ghosting or at least anything significant. I'm usually sensitive to it and this monitor seems to handle motion well. Games and videos look great.

The biggest surprise was the amount of dead or lit pixels. Dead pixels aren't that big a deal, but lit ones can be extremely annoying. I went over the screen several times and there isn't a single pixel not working the way it should. I usually expect a few. The way I check is by running full screen images of solid colors. Obviously black for any lit pixels, and white or any othjer solid color for dead ones.

I listed a few cons and I thought I should go into them. I didn't take off any stars because they are small issues that don't really affect the experience. More like small things that could be mentioned if I had to mention something.

I mentioned that it wobbles. It's not a wobble in the sense you might be thinking. The base is solid and doesn't move at all. The wobble is actually a flex in the joint that connects the screen to the column that goes to the base. When the screen moves, it's actually just flexing at that joint. That rarely happens and it's not really an issue. Some people had mentioned it and I thought I would clarify. If you're worried about the base not being stable, don't be.

The second con was the size of the bezel. It's not huge at 3/4 of an inch on the top and sides, but it could be a bit thinner. Again, not a real issue but there is always room for improvement.

I've been using Asus monitors for years and I go out of my way to recommend them to my friends and family. They have never let me down and no one has ever come back to me disappointed after getting one. This one is no different. The overall image quality is fantastic and I couldn't be happier. Does it stand up to an IPS monitor that costs two to three times as much? Of course not and it doesn't need to. For $150, I don't think you can do better.
