5 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor, great service

Pros: Amazing contrast
Great color
Very deep blacks
Excellent build quality
Stand is well designed, supports rotation very well

Cons: Mediocre response time and "ghosting" in high-motion applications, but that's to be expected from an IPS panel

Other Thoughts: About a year and a half after I bought it, it developed a patch of hot pixels. I called HP and they sent a technician out to replace it the very next day.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect.

Pros: This LCD monitor is the best I've seen, so much better than any TN panel out there. I looked at all the cheaper consumer types and couldn't bring myself to the point of buying one. Been hanging on to my CRT until I could afford a H-IPS like this.

Setup was easy and calibration wasn't bad right out of the box. The stand is sturdy, there's lots of inputs and the cables are included. No dead pixels and it arrived the day after ordering it.

Cons: No complaints, I love it.

Other Thoughts: Buy one now!

2 out of 5 eggsCould be better

Pros: Very sharp, great for Photoshop work, good gaming display. Calibrates easily. Great color, brightness and contrast.
Very good software. Lots of inputs and USB ports.
Very bright, I had to lower brightness and contrast in order to use it. This I see as a good thing because once the back light loses some of its brightness, I can just turn it up.

Cons: The first one completely died one week after getting it. The replacement was obviously a refurbished unit-it came with a dead pixel and what looks to be a hair sandwiched between the front surface a layer beneath.

Other Thoughts: I've very disappointed with this monitor, for close to 600 dollars I expect it work perfectly for a couple of years.
I would much rather have had HP repair the first display than get a defective refurbished one.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty Good Productor

Pros: This is a really good monitor for professional use like graphic design or digital photography. It has lots of input and multi-language menu.

Cons: But the fist one new egg gave me had more than five bad pixels, and I made a exchange. Fortunately, the second one was perfect. And I bought onther one three days ago, it had one pixel dead in the middle. It's just annoying.

Other Thoughts: Nothing bad but the dead pixels!

5 out of 5 eggsImpecable!

Pros: I purchased this screen based upon professional and consumer reviews. My good friend works for Adobe and spoke to me about the dream color monitor by HP as I was shopping for this new screen. I had been using what I thought was a fairly good NEC monitor. It had served me well and it came at quite a cost ($900), that was several years ago. Long story short, out of the box this monitor shines, great OSD control and calibration. I put this side by side with my existing display and the contrast between the two is stark. I have enjoy taking high definition, high quality images and dragging them between the two monitors , just to enjoy the difference. I would recommend this monitor to any computer enthusiast
who takes the time to appreciate quality in sight, sound or speed.

Cons: Not quite like real life yet, hopefully soon.

5 out of 5 eggsA superb monitor

Pros: This wide-gamut monitor has at last allowed me to preview what I will get when I print photographs. It covers the Adobe RGB gamut well, and once properly adjusted will match what one sees looking at a print in indirect daylight. Every pixel on mine is perfect and, surprisingly, it synchronizes to some low resolutions that confuse my old CRT. The colors are relatively invariant to off-angle viewing. It is comfortable to use thanks to its adjustability.

Cons: I do get the slight difference in color temperature from left to right that has been reported elsewhere, but this is apparently inherent to the nature of the panel and not specific to this make. The out-of-the-box image settings also need considerable adjustment for accuracy in previewing photographs.

Other Thoughts: I would suggest, first, adjusting the monitor to one of the sets of parameters at the UK "tftcentral" site: Brightness 17, Contrast 65, and RGB 251, 235, 242 work well for me. Then very carefully compare a print from your printer and preferred paper to the display in your usual room lighting. A little tweaking of the video-card settings can then be used for gamma adjustment, etc. The brightness is far less than the manufacturer's default, but if you hold a print up to the monitor (or, for me, at an angle to it, as my light comes mostly from one window to the side) you will see that the brightness of the image in the monitor corresponds very well to that of the print in room lighting.

I did not use a colorimeter, though the settings I found online were obtained with one. Given the considerable variation in reported results with different colorimeters (or even the same one) I just decided to compare my prints to the display. The results have been quite satisfactory.

5 out of 5 eggsTruly worth it

Pros: As well stated in other reviews, this monitor has *superb* colors, right down to deep blacks. I have used every input on the back of it, every USB plug, it all performs excellently. I mostly use it in a vertical position, and the odd color difference between eyes on most rotated LCD screens are not apparent on this one, truly superb. Its base is wonderfully stable as well.

Cons: The price, if that is even a con in this case considering the quality.

Other Thoughts: If you want deep colors, fast refresh rate, do any kind of visual design, etc... then get this monitor, it is well worth it!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome monitor, fabulous color

Pros: Fabulous, saturated color and excellent analog compatibility.

Cons: I haven't had any negative experiences with this monitor.

Other Thoughts: The other LCD display I have is on my notebooks. These look decent until they are next to the HP. The colors on this monitor are superb, and the black is such a deep, inky black. The first monitor didn't work well due to shipping damage, but the second monitor survived, and has been absolutely fabulous.

I run this monitor with analog inputs due to my multiple computers, some of which only have analog output. Even when the video is going through two KVMs, the monitor adapts and corrects the signal for the highest clarity. Seriously, the image is awesome. Yes, you can spend less, and you will get less.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Impressive

Pros: Very bright crisp clean picture. Extremely acurate color reproduction. No bad pixels. Picture-in-Picture.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Fantastic monitors. I bought two of these and connected them to my 8-core Mac Pro with nVidia 8800GT Video card(s) and I could be happier. They are absolutely awesome! I was very skeptical buying a monitor online, but these arrived in perfect condition!
