4 out of 5 eggsVery Good LED Monitor for Its Price

Pros: I bought two of these. The first one in 2011 with a manufacture date of 1/2011 and second in 2012 with a manufacture date of 7/2012. In 2011 I got this to replace my aging 5 year old primary monitor, Gateway FPD2185W (21" 1680x1050). On sale, this was a great bang for the buck: 23" 1080p LED with VGA, DVI, & HDMI inputs. The monitor is very thin and lightweight. It is very bright; the default brightness is a blindingly 100% and I toned it down afterwards. Though I had spare cables, the bundled VGA, DVI, and HDMI cables were a great bonus. 1080p videos look beautiful and I got plenty of screen real-estate for Windows. PS3 and XBox 360 play great via HDMI though the audio has to be set to the RCA cables.

Cons: Like others, I noticed screen is slightly "blueish" even at its warm setting. My old monitor looks more "redish" at its cool setting. I got used it over time and it doesn't bother me at all.

The stand isn't height-adjustable and is a bit wobbly at the slightest movement of the desk. I used a monitor arm and it looks a lot better as it floats above my desk.

The power on time is unnecessarily long: the 2011 monitor displays the Acer logo for 5 seconds. I thought that was annoying until seeing that the 2012 monitor shows the Acer logo and then the Energy Star logo for an unnecessary total of 15 seconds. Testing other brands at the store they power on a lot faster than the Acer brand monitors.

On the 2011 monitor there's a faint high pitched noise coming from the screen. I never noticed it due to the computer fans and it occurs when the screen has lots of text on a white background. Changing the brightness didn't make a difference. The 2012 monitor does not suffer this problem.

The function buttons and navigating around the menu aren't the most elegant things to use but it's not that hard to figure it out.

The faint pixel grid is and grainy texture of the screen is more noticeable on the 2012 monitor. It's okay viewing 20 inches away but I have to try to ignore it and get used to it.

Other Thoughts: As of review, the 2012 monitor is still my primary monitor and the 2011 is used sometimes as a second monitor.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY. It keeps rebooting

Pros: Doesnt matter if you cant use it. See below.

Cons: If brightness is anything above 25%, after 2, 3 minute of power-on, this monitor keeps rebooting endlessly so its impossible to use it any further.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic

Pros: I've had this monitor for almost 3 years (I bought it on 8/29/2012). and it's still trekking along despite using it for 10+ hours a day with daily activities to projects for my web designing and interface designing courses at college to watching movies and of course games with little details to extreme.

HDMI works like a charm, beautiful colors, no dead pixels, and extremely happy with this purchase. Especially since how long I've had it and it still hasn't died compared to some who wrote reviews here.

Cons: o Power button sometimes needs an extra push to turn on/off. Little hassle really, unless you're in a rush.
o Menu buttons near the power button are not easy to see which can be confusing.
o Navigation in the menu (tying with above) is quite bad.
o Stand is wobbly and fragile so if you have a shaky desk, may want to get one that is sturdy if you bump into yours a lot.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Great color out of box, pretty slim but stable base.

Cons: Monitor takes a little longer to turn on than I'm used to, nothing too annoying, especially if you never turn off your monitor.

3 out of 5 eggsNot so sure...

Pros: -Slim & light design
-Light is downward facing and unobtrusive.
-Multiple inputs on the back
-Comes with cables
-Power brick is very small
-Display is good after some tweaking.
-Runs nice and cool.

Cons: -Broke at the year and 6 month mark (wouldn't power on)
-Stand is flimsy and will wobble wight light weight of monitor
-Sometimes need to hit the power button two or three times for it to register a press.
-No auto select for inputs.
-Button location is hard to use and creates much difficulty in navigation.
-No headphone out or audio jacks period. (not expected but would be nice).

Other Thoughts: I used this monitor for exactly a year and eight months before it failed. This display is much touted in reviews, and I was very happy with it (save for a few niggles mentioned in the cons) but then one day it just didn't power up. The unit worked an hour before. I would not even get the orange standby light, however the power brick showed a green light.

I was forced to send this unit back under warranty (which is 3 years.) This process cost $40 on top of the original $149 I spent on it making it a $210 purchase after shipping and tax + 6 days+ downtime.

Obviously the manufacturer's warranty and solid reviews on this and other websites indicate that this display should not have failed when it did. Never the less, I would not purchase another Acer display when there are quality Sony, LG, Toshiba & Samsung monitors at affordable prices.

5 out of 5 eggs2 for side monitors

Pros: DVI colors are very sharp (hdmi colors are bad but can be fixed). Thin bezels. great price when I bought. No dead pixels. Light. Bright. 90 degree power connector is nice.

Cons: One monitor of the 2 had a white line an inch thick and went vertically. Newegg replaced completely free and was fast and seamless.

Blue lights for power are kinda bright in complete darknes.

HDMI colors are dull, but I.hear this can be fixed by changing off of RGB?

Other Thoughts: I have a Samsung 120hz 23" monitor with thin bezels and needed two 60hz monitors for the sides to complete the nvidia surround setup as I can't run 5760x1080 at 120fps anyway. I'm very happy with these monitors and they've been great for a whole year. Would buy again and I do recommend them.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Used since 12/2011. Looks great and seems to be a great deal. I game on it all the time and it works very well and looks as good as I could expect.

Cons: 2/2014 advertised for the same price, on sale no less, for the same price I bought it for in 2011. I saw the "sale" price and knew I didn't pay that!

Other Thoughts: I'm looking (and waiting) for a new gaming monitor, the ROG Asus ones look good and the new G-Sync will be coming out shortly. I'm not buying any monitor till those come out, kinda like not buying SB-E when you knew that Haswell was a month away

Pros: Nice Monitor for the prices, 3 year warranty

Cons: You get what you paid for, now I have to ship it back to Acer for repair, cycles through the inputs, can't do anything else
