3 out of 5 eggsInaccurate description on website.

Pros: Excellent picture quality.
Adjustable height.
Matte bezel. Very thin and uniform all around.
Relatively samll footprint.

Cons: 1. the actual witdth is 21.5" and not 20.23" - I checked the LG website and every document on Newegg (including the official pdf) before ordering this monitor. it was ~ $40 more than others in this level but I ordered because the advertised width was perfect for my computer cabinet...

2. No HDMI - should have one at this price.

Other Thoughts: I would've given 5-star if the size detail was accurate... even at the higher price.

I did not call Newegg nor LG prior to ordering. Previous experience has taught me that the phone advisor just reads the same product description that's found online.

I'm not qualified to comment on the merits of different component materials (ie IPS, TN etc)

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Intro Designing Display

Pros: * Wide Viewing Angle
* 1080p Content Plays Flawless
* No Dead Pixels
* Plenty of Screen Real Estate to work on any Photo / Video Editing
* Beautifully Designed Shell

Cons: * Movement, but I initially wanted to set this up as a Tri-Monitor Setup on a Mutli-Screen Stand. But, no eggs needed to be removed for that.

Other Thoughts: Will be buying another 2 of these for gaming and more design work.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap IPS Pane, Beautiful Colors, Matte Panel for no glaring, No Ghosting, Huge screen perfect for gaming and working, Swivel is great for web design - see all of the page at once no matter how much content.

Cons: A lot of people state that there's no back light bleed, but unfortunately I got a nice little hemisphere in the upper left hand corner of light. I'd RMA, but I don't have anything else to use as a monitor and I have classes starting up again soon. So I'm just going to have to live with this.

It seems like I cannot get this display to be perfectly horizontal either, it's got a slight tilt to the right which throws me off at first glace - I'm sure I'll get used to it as time goes on...or just start tilting my head with it.

Other Thoughts: I really wish my light wasn't bleeding, but seeing as it's bleeding where it is - it shouldn't harm my work since normally my workspace is in the middle - and most of the applications window will cover it before the canvas.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: IPS panel
Really good picture quality
Very good price
Many ways to adjust

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Unlike TN-film monitors, this can be calibrated.
Originally I wanted to use it as a secondary monitor for my laptop; however, compared to this, the picture of my laptop is so bad that I decided to keep that closed. I'm very happy with this purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice!

Pros: -Nice, professional-looking frame, without any glossy 'modern' styling touches.
-Matte-finish screen doesn't show reflections.
-Minimal ghosting.
-Excellent viewing angles (hooray IPS!)
-Decent color - despite being IPS, it's only a 6-bit panel so there's some extremely faint banding in certain color gradients; otherwise color is excellent.
-Backlight will dim to a comfortable level, unlike many CCFL-lit models, and does not suffer from the high-pitched squeal many of those exhibit at lower brightness.
-Speakers do not take up any bezel space, which is nice for those of us who won't be using them.
-Internal power supply, so there's no extra power brick.

Cons: -Rotating base is extremely unstable. If you flip the monitor over and remove the screw holding the turntable, and throw the turntable away, you'll be left with something much more stable.
-Blue power LED always blinks during standby. It can be switched on or off while the monitor is active but in either setting it blinks during standby, which is irritating.
-Colors not quite as nice as I'd hoped for in an IPS panel. Still better than most TN.

Other Thoughts: Dynamic backlighting does not appear to have any effect unless the screen is almost 100% black. It can be disabled completely by holding the rightmost settings button (not power button) for five seconds.

Default brightness is eye-searing. Turn it down; I found 15% very comfortable. It'll look dim when you first turn it down (since you're comparing directly to 100%) but once you walk away and come back it will be very comfortable.

The other default settings are very reasonable. I raised contrast slightly to 74, raised Gamma to 2.4, and set user color to 50 red, 50 green, and 40 blue. See http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/ for a sequence of test images to help with calibration.

My first monitor had faint bruising which distorted colors. Newegg was helpful as always, took care of shipping, and got me a different one. Not a mark against the monitor, just random chance.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor

Pros: Very good color, and great viewing angle, once calibrated it is a great photo monitor. Got it from a local dealer for 180 plus tax.

Cons: speakers are dreadful, no hdmi, no usb ports :(

Other Thoughts: For those saying the stand is flimsy, all you have to do is remove the "swivel" plate from the bottom, so the monitor can sit on the actual base, not that flimsy spinner. and all is well.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent monitor

Pros: Great balance of price and features. Colors are excellent, contrast is on par with IPS panels in general and viewing angles are excellent.

Cons: Slight uneveness in back lighting which is only noticable when the display is black. After removing the swivel disk from the base, the stand is solid on my desk. A monitor this light doesn't need a swivel base.

Other Thoughts: This is one of the best monitors in it's price range. Unlike TN panels, the colors and brightness are uniform across the screen when viewed from any distance and color saturation is stable when brightness is adjusted up and down. One downside with IPS panels is slower response time. When scrolling text on a white background, no trailing is visible, but black text has a slight purplish tint which indicates the pixel turn-off time is slower than turn-on. No artifacts are visible when viewing videos. Gamers will probably want a monitor with faster response time.
Backlighting uneveness is only noticable when the entire screen is black and only on the lower left corner. This is a limitation of LED edge lit monitors, so I can't really fault LG for this. Typical for monitors in this price range, it uses 6 bit color. Unless your're a graphics professional, the difference between 6 and 8-bit won't be that noticable and you'll spend half as much.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat deal

Pros: Great viewing angle left to right, OK viewing angle up and down, color is good, display can get as bright as you want (almost too bright)

Cons: Stand is a wobbly, you can see dithering on gradients if you look for it

Other Thoughts: If you're the type of person who stares at very fine gradients all day skip this monitor. Otherwise I think these monitors are a great deal. Other non-IPS monitors look terrible in comparison.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: Great IPS (not true IPS but still good)
When compared to my brothers TN panel it is vastly superior for the purposes I use it for (college student that must write papers/do comp work). It also looks good for gaming but the TN panel he owns has much "richer" colors. This isnt really a good thing but side by side the IPS looks more lifelike whereas the TN is good for cartoony games
- Tilt, Height, and Pivot functions are great

Cons: Cannot really fault this monitor for much besides that IPS is inherently more expensive. Wouldnt buy it for 270 (what it was listed at when purchased) but got it for 210.
Backlight bleed is noticeable with brightness all the way up

Other Thoughts: If you like oversaturated gaming because the colors "pop" more then this is not your monitor. Very life-like colors

3 out of 5 eggsQuality Control

Pros: + E-IPS panel. Great viewing angles compared to TN.

+ Stand features. It doesn't swivel in the traditional sense. It rotates on a small circular disc below the stand. This rotating disc makes very smooth action but causes the stand to lose some stability. Height, pivot and tilt are acceptable but relatively stiff.

+ OSD Menu provides great calibration that I was pleased and surprised to see. *See DCR under Cons.

Cons: - LG quality control. First one had 3 dead pixels and severe backlight bleeding across the top of the screen. After RMA, I got one with 0 dead/stuck pixels but still had minor backlight bleeding on the right side.

-Dynamic Contrast Ratio (DCR) is very annoying on this monitor. It is forced on in User mode! Major flaw there. User mode is the only mode that allows color calibration. Professional users beware.

- Ghosting. Despite what you may have heard, this monitor does NOT have overdrive. Thus, I can't recommended this for serious gamers. After testing with PixPerAn, multiple trailing is apparent. After capturing it on camera, it is very similar to Viewsonic and NEC 23" E-IPS offerings. LG should have specified this as 14ms like their competitors.

- Aggressive anti-glare coating. "Glimmer" effect is very apparent when sitting less than 2ft from the screen.

- Speakers are very weak and hardly usable. LG likely added these to appeal to the business market.
