4 out of 5 eggsIt Works

Pros: Got it on sale; fairly easy set-up; works with all my games

Cons: Learning curve; my fingers are still cramped, same as if I were using a keyboard

Other Thoughts: I purchased this to use with an HTPC/Gaming rig I have hooked up to a 52" TV in the living room. I use to use a device called The Claw for FPS gaming but the manufacture is no longer supporting the device so I have no drivers for my 64-bit version of Windows 7. I've got the G13 hooked up to a 10' extension cord plugged in to a powered USB hub n it works fine. Many more buttons than my Claw but it's not as ergonomic and there is a learning curve. I have small to medium sized hands and it fits fine.

4 out of 5 eggsUnleash Your Own Key Layout!

Pros: Compatible with most games either with the software profile or you own custom profile. The software allows you to save profiles on the device itself to internal storage. Makes some of those games with less then optimal key layout and issues with key re-mapping *cough* Battlefield 3/4 more playable. Also has some nice added features like a system monitor showing CPU usage and RAM usage, clock and date, etc.

Cons: A bit expensive but cost of software development has value.

1 out of 5 eggsBought two, both failed within an hour

Pros: Plenty of keys. Decent macro capabilities. Ergonomic design.

Cons: Keys have failed on two different keypads.

Other Thoughts: I've been a long time user of the G13. I'm still using one that I purchased several years ago on my desktop PC. I purchased a second one at a local retailer to travel with a few months ago and got one use out of it before the two keys by the mini joystick failed. I purchased a second one through Newegg and within an hour one of the same keys failed.

4 out of 5 eggsHad mine almost a decade and still can't live without it.

Pros: Endlessly programmable and the software for it continues to get better with every release. Works with *any* game... though perhaps more suitable for first person and third person games. Solidly constructed... really takes a licking and keeps on ticking. The mechanical aspects of this device are seemingly indestructable (see cons). Heavy enough it doesn't slide around on the desk easily (see cons). Display is bright and high contrast. Thumbstick is the best thing since multiplayer for first person and third person perspective games. Buttons are terrifically placed for easy use and reach even with small hands.

Cons: While the mechanical aspects (buttons, screen, thumb stick, casing) have taken everything I can throw at them for over half a decade, there has been some wear and tear.

The palm rest has begun to flake away and is now almost half missing. The parts that aren't are worn almost completely smooth. None-the-less, even in this state it is not uncomfortable to use and I often clock in 4-5 hour sessions with no discomfort.

The only real issue I have had with this device is the completely lack of xinput support and very limited "gamepad" functionality.

While it does have "gamepad" functionality in the form of the analog thumb stick which has a single joystick button underneath it (similar to the thumb sticks on an xbox360 or ps2/ps3 controller) all other buttons are exclusively programmable as keyboard keys, mouse buttons, or macros. They can not be programmed to output joystick button presses in any way.

What gamepad functionality it has is also hamstrung by the fact that most modern games do not support directinput (which was used for gamepads and joysticks prior to the launch of the xbox360). Instead they typically use xinput. The g13 does not support xinput in any shape or form and as such the thumbstick can not be used as an analog input for modern games. It can only be used digital (by programing keyboard keys to each direction).

Other Thoughts: Despite the caveats above about the lack of xinput support I have taken to programing the WASD keys to the thumbstick for movement. I find this allows me to control in game movement with a single finger and vastly increases my reactions where movement is concerned.

It also eliminates all occurrences of the finger pretzel situation where, for example, you are moving forward-left and need to press the Q key or switch to Weapon 1 without lifting a finger off W and A. Considering that you will almost always be moving in at least two directions at any given moment this can be a fairly common problem.

When I have to go back to using a keyboard I struggle.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Device, Needs Tweaking

Pros: -Love the backlight colors. Currently matching my DeathAdder mouse.
-The LCD display is pretty cool.
-Nice large keys.
-Some default configurations for certain games will work.

Cons: -Before you purchase this, you need to be aware that you will need to tweak your key binds for every game. Although Logitech has some default profiles for select games, even these require review. Ex: The Battlefield binds didn't even include a Sprint button!

5 out of 5 eggsMine is finally dying

Pros: After several years of getting pounded on, my G13 is finally dying. Something is causing little bolts of lightening to arc through the LCD screen when I press the button to select a new profile, which is causing the screen to become unusable, I think the "W" (G11) keys is about to become not a key soon also. Best peripheral I've ever had. Lasted at least 4 years, all while taking major abuse. The size of the buttons makes it super easy to differentiate between them, and the setup of the base keeps your hand from ever cramping. And it's a Logitech. Wit all that going for it, you'd be dumb not to buy it, even if you already have 2. Oh ya, price is killer too.

Cons: I don't have 2

Other Thoughts: Oh, you don't want to hear about the other thoughts that are roaming around in my head

5 out of 5 eggsGreat item

Pros: I have 3 of these one is broken (soon to be fixed with a part from an x-box type controller), one is new and one has been repaired by me using a mouse part. (don't ask) I love these. I find I can't game anymore without them. Best thing I have ever purchased. The one I use the most is the repaired one with the mouse part. These are tuff as nails. I have thrown them, beat them, dropped them. I haven't tried fire yet but that's next on my list. I get mad when I die in game and after about 5 deaths in a row, I take it out on the poor controller or the mouse.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic

Pros: Love it. I love only having to use one finger for WASD.

Cons: The rubber bottom pieces get a little worn early. One of them are already sliding off.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Very comfortable to use
Lots of keys to program
Bright Lcd display screen
Long cable to reach around my setup to my computer
Custom back light to match your setup
Looks great
Solid feel

Cons: Some of the keys are a little awkward to use like the thumb button beside the joystick. If the joystick and buttons were moved a little more to the other keys would be nice.

Other Thoughts: I would REALLY recommend this to anyone who love anything from first person shooter to mmorpg's.

5 out of 5 eggsGood, Solid gamepad. Recommended buy.

Pros: The big advantage of this setup is replacing the old WASD movement controls with the handy thumbstick. Stopping forward movement whenever you need to activate an ability becomes a thing of the past.

The ergonomics took me a few days to get used to, but after trying a few configurations on my desk, I was able to use it without any numbness or discomfort.

I personally enjoyed the LCD screen a lot, I usually play my games in windowed mode, but with autohide taskbar, and being able to run the time and date on the LCD meant that I can glance over and see the time without having you mouse out of the game.

I enjoyed the ability to change the backlight to any color, it was cool to have it match my mouse and tower with the click of a button.

The keybind controls are pretty advanced, you can set up instant release for games that trigger abilities on button release instead of button press, multi keybinds are easy. I have an alt+tab keybind on my g13 and I use it all the time.

Cons: The biggest issue with this pad is that some games have compatibility issues. I bought it for ESO and it worked like a dream, but when I play STO, alt tabbing switches the profile and it takes a second or two for me to regain control from the g13. Sometimes if I'm turning and firing off keys it acts up on STO. It's still usable or else I would not have given the g13 5 stars, there's just some issues to get used to.

Other Thoughts: If you're trying to decide between this and the Razer product line, I recommend the g13 for MMOs and the Razer line for shooters.

The LCD gives less benefit in a shooter where you literally cannot look away, but you get more buttons and a higher quality thumbstick with the g13. The improved ergonomics on the Orbweaver are more useful in a shooter. Just my 1c. Enjoy!
