2 out of 5 eggsLet Down

Pros: -Good Joystick
-Mostly Good Ergonomics
-Lots of Buttons
-Screen Can be Useful
-Decent Backlight

Cons: Cons:
-Impractical Joystick Button:
I went to press it during a game and found myself not being able to comfortably press it hard enough to activate it.
-Ergonomics:
I know this was in the pros to, but here is why. You cant easily press a good number of the buttons without moving your hand, or straining it. Also, My thumb naturally rests on the joystick, but I don't use the joystick. I don't find a use for it when I have WASD, and my mouse. Sure, I could use it for throttle or something, but if I want to fly something I use my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro.
-Backlight:
I thought this RGB backlight was going to be like the nice per key backlighting. It isnt, so you have to have the whole thing one color, (which isnt a problem for most people) but not only that, but it is fairly dim, and not very vibrant.
-Keys:
So while the G13 wins among gamepads for having the most keys, they are not very practical, but most importantly (to me at least) they are extremely mushy and wiggly. Specifically the M2, and M3 Keys. I honestly would return it just for that if I could.
-Software:
I actually like Logitechs gaming software, it works great for my mouse, my headset, and my joystick. It doesnt work great however, for my g13. I wanted to just use my default profile for The PreSequel, and it wouldnt let me, even after I "deleted" the profile it downloaded for it. I kept trying to switch because whoever chose the keybindings placed everything in weird places. So I fixed up the default profile, and was very frusturated when it kept loading the now invisible Logitech made profile.
-LCD Panel:
So here is my last complaint, I saved this one for last because it is the one thing I hate about this game pad. If you look at my pro on it, it says can be useful. Here is why, It doesn't work for a Massive number of games. You dont get to see your stats on a lot of the games I play, some being, BF4, Borderlands The PreSequel, WarThunder, Sins of a Solar Empire. Logitech gets around this by saying that they have the free software out there, and game developers just need to put it into their games. I went into this thinking I was going to be able to display any game stats I wanted to on that LCD, as Logitech implies. I was so very wrong. In fact, the only thing it displays related to a good number of those games, are the game name, and a small picture.

Other Thoughts: I really am disappointed with Logitech this time. I probably wont buy another Logitech Item after this. Maybe its time to change.

3 out of 5 eggsA good piece of hardware, but not perfect

Pros: Lots of programmable keys, more than any other game board I've seen. The "G" keys are tough, as is the thumb paddle joystick. I've had two of these now and I beat the bejeezus out of the joystick (we're talking a lot of force on it when I get excited), and neither of them broke on me.

If you buy all Logitech "G" series peripherals (game board, keyboard, mouse), the software integrates them all, which is very nice. I haven't used the scripting engine, but the macro functions are thorough, and work well.

Cons: The software is both a good thing and a bad thing. It has several minor annoyances, for example the software window doesn't save it's last location, so every freakin' time you open it you have to drag it to the location you want it to be at on your screen(s). The software window is big, ugly, isn't resizable, and looks dated. I often have to hit the Windows key, then the game window - depending on the software version, more than once, to get the automatic game profiles to load.

The bottom thumb button is badly designed. On both the G13's I have owned it was always flaky, and hard to use, and on both of them it eventually just stopped working. I took the G13 apart to see if there was anything I could do to fix it, and the trigger for that button is just really flimsy and badly designed.

Other Thoughts: Despite the negatives, I love this piece of hardware, and will be very sad if there is no suitable replacement for it when it is no longer made.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat gaming pad, bad thumb stick

Pros: Had this thing for years and years now. So much nicer than WASD for movement. I used this for all my MMO's I used to play online, FPS, RTS, and now I can't live without it. Makes a huge difference with the quick access to buttons.

Cons: Hated the thumb stick so I tore it apart and replaced it with an xbox controller stick (videos online to do this). After that it is perfect

Other Thoughts: Macros are nice. Sky is the limit. Onscreen display for CPU, GPU, temps, framerate, etc. Very handy.

3 out of 5 eggsSoftware Leaves Something Lacking

Pros: The layout is excellent, the keys are spaced widely enough to be comfortable under my big hands. Most of the keys actuate smoothly.

Cons: The keys surrounding the thumbstick feel stiff and shallow, and they frequently fail to actuate.

The software could use a lot of work.
* There's no way to sort the game profiles. Web research indicates they're sorted by some sort of generated GUID, rather than alphabetically. Not only is it not exposed to the user, but it's utterly useless anyway.
* The macro programming doesn't seem to work well with CTRL/ALT/SHIFT combinations, or any simultaneous keystroke for that matter.
* The default view when you start the software is a picture of the device. Who cares?! Why bother?! It should go directly to something functional.
* The display colors in the software do not accurately reflect the colors that actually show up on the device.
* It has three mode selections for each game profile, but there is no way to copy a discrete button set within the same profile. If you want to create a variation on a profile, you need to start over from scratch.
* It would be very nice if you could script a macro that would fire when you changed modes within a profile.

Other Thoughts: Make the thumb buttons more like the rest of the buttons, and the hardware would be near perfect. It still won't fix the software, though.

5 out of 5 eggsstep your game up

Pros: Color Changing Screen, Programmable, Does the same as the Higher priced G13. Comfortable

Cons: Does not bring me beverages during gaming.

Other Thoughts: I love my ergonomic keyboard for normal internet usage. But I hate it for gaming. The G13 is like having the best of both worlds.

5 out of 5 eggsterrific game pad

Pros: I have had mine for nearly ten years and it still works. One of the thumb buttons broke but I was able to fix it with some writer and a bit of effort.

The support staff couldn't sell me any parts so I had to fix it myself. I tired a gamepad from Razor but it just didn't work quit as well.

software is great and continually improving.

Cons: none

4 out of 5 eggsIt Works

Pros: Got it on sale; fairly easy set-up; works with all my games

Cons: Learning curve; my fingers are still cramped, same as if I were using a keyboard

Other Thoughts: I purchased this to use with an HTPC/Gaming rig I have hooked up to a 52" TV in the living room. I use to use a device called The Claw for FPS gaming but the manufacture is no longer supporting the device so I have no drivers for my 64-bit version of Windows 7. I've got the G13 hooked up to a 10' extension cord plugged in to a powered USB hub n it works fine. Many more buttons than my Claw but it's not as ergonomic and there is a learning curve. I have small to medium sized hands and it fits fine.

4 out of 5 eggsUnleash Your Own Key Layout!

Pros: Compatible with most games either with the software profile or you own custom profile. The software allows you to save profiles on the device itself to internal storage. Makes some of those games with less then optimal key layout and issues with key re-mapping *cough* Battlefield 3/4 more playable. Also has some nice added features like a system monitor showing CPU usage and RAM usage, clock and date, etc.

Cons: A bit expensive but cost of software development has value.

1 out of 5 eggsBought two, both failed within an hour

Pros: Plenty of keys. Decent macro capabilities. Ergonomic design.

Cons: Keys have failed on two different keypads.

Other Thoughts: I've been a long time user of the G13. I'm still using one that I purchased several years ago on my desktop PC. I purchased a second one at a local retailer to travel with a few months ago and got one use out of it before the two keys by the mini joystick failed. I purchased a second one through Newegg and within an hour one of the same keys failed.
