5 out of 5 eggsSmall and doesn't get hot

Pros: It fits in my pocket, is very quiet, and doesn't get hot.

Cons: It's fine, since I decided to buy this instead of a USB flash drive, for the additional space it offers over a USB flash drive. It could be faster though.

Sometimes plugging in the USB cord into various computers' USB ports, it isn't recognized. I have to plug in both USB cords into the ports sometimes. This appears to be intermittent. I'm not sure if sometimes just randomly 1 USB cord doesn't draw enough power or if just randomly it doesn't read and just the act of plugging it into another USB port triggers it to work.

Other Thoughts: I tested copying 13.3 GB (21,396 files) from an E3300 computer with a SATA 3GB/sec hard drive to this portal hard drive, and it took a little over 5 mins. That's about 43.5 MB/sec.

5 out of 5 eggsw00t - works fine

Pros: Works as advertised. No problems being recognized once I realized I needed to have the end going into the drive plugged a little deeper in. Worked from multiple computers.

Cons: I'm afraid of their warranty policy where they ship you some refurbished one. If anything, it would be that.

It's USB 2.0 and not 3.0, so it could be faster.

Other Thoughts: I was going to buy a flash drive, but I figured this would give me more bang for the buck.
.
I've read of peeps who say they received a DOA drive or a semi-working drive. This is true of any hard drive out there. It makes me wonder if when you order your hard drives, if you order it with other items, it'll be packaged in a bigger box and UPS people/machines won't throw it around as much. Bottom line, when ordering hard drives, always order with other components so they are shipped in the same box, in a bigger box.

3 out of 5 eggsToo Noisy, Too Slow

Pros: If you are putting this down on a hard surface like a table, it has four tiny rubber feet in the corners, which keep the drive from sliding around.

The drive is very lightweight, meaning that you can carry it in your shirt pocket easily.

I backed up the data files and non-operating system programs for two computers on this drive and still only used a small corner of the drive.

Cons: The length between the USB cord double-end is too short. It means that to use it, your USB ports must be next to each other. My laptop physically separates them by several inches, so I cannot use this feature to draw extra power. Fortunately, it operates with only one.

The drive is very slow. I am considering re-formatting it, even though iomega already formatted it NFTS. I would rather not lose the backup, so I will have to do some file juggling to transfer the two folders to another 320GB backup hard drive. That though will require the data going through USB connectors, so it will take many hours.

The drive started clicking after a couple of hours of file transfers. Letting the drive cool several hours between backing up the two computers eliminated the problem. The problem though means that I do not trust this drive to hold my backups.

Other Thoughts: The drive is inexpensive enough that I will not cry if I ultimately throw it away. Since I have two other Passport 320GB backup external hard drives, one can fail and I will not lose my backups. I would have to lose all three backups and both computers to lose the data, since I also put a backup folder of one computer on the other. I am not likely to lose my files.

1 out of 5 eggsBuy this one if you need it to work half time

Pros: Quiet, large storage capacity.

Cons: I've tried using the Iomega eGo portable hard drive for 5 weeks. Tried using it on 3 laptops. It's performance has been hit and miss. It only works less than 50% of the time. Sometimes not recognized; sometimes recognized by the laptop but no data files displayed, and sometimes it actually works.

Other Thoughts: I contacted Iomega. They could only offer to send me a power supply as their guess for fixing the issue. They'd replace it, but would send me a refurb and charge me S&H plus a $25 fee. This was my last Iomega purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsWii-Perfect

Pros: Runs off of Wii power.

If you use WBFS files (compressed), you'll fit 200+ games on this thing (plenty).

Somewhat faster load vs. Wii discs.

Really small, will fit in your pocket.

Dual power "if needed," most won't need it.

No power supply needed.

Cons: Supposedly small for Wii games (according to a friend, who said he has a 1TB and is running out of space...but I find myself throwing more lousy, low-quality games away than running out of space! I think he is probably taking a kitchen-sink approach to game images, and yet plays maybe 20% of them "for real"!

Other Thoughts: This dainty princess is just a peach of a purchase...extremely pleased, easy to transport, runs fast, works perfectly with Wii homebrew and usbloaders, and it's cheap for the storage space you get. And, again, let's face it, how many games worth keeping are out there? You may run out of space with this thing faster, but you will not shed a tear deleting clunky Gti Club or boring Brunswick Bowling, or any of the other hundreds of shovelware and low-quality titles that are out there.

Never fear, the cheap, robust and long-term solution is here.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: it's cheap with the $10 discount and becomes the most bang for your buck at the low price range

has a dual headed usb plug for the comp. so more power can be supplied

it's pretty small for an external drive

Cons: the dual headed plug is configured in a way that it puts stress on the wire when you plug both usb's in at the same time, but this is only a probelm if you need to do that every time every day, and even if it breaks you could easily replace it. but not getting this device just because of this flaw though would be a bad choice.

Other Thoughts: the case seems sturdy enough, even if it "breaks" it seems that the actually device will still run

5 out of 5 eggsGood Drive

Pros: Good brand, good quality, good price$40

Cons: For $15 more I could have had a 500gig external.

Other Thoughts: Decent but hold out they will probably sellout this old technology for$20 soon.
