5 out of 5 eggsStill running since 2010

Pros: Fast enough, still running well, no bad sounds or errors after 5+ years. Has been used as a gaming and download hard drive almost exclusively. Runs cool, runs quiet. I don't know what more you could ask for from a hard drive circa 2010.

Cons: none, runs great.

Other Thoughts: back when samsung made mechanical hard drives and branded them, yada yada. Now-a-days you may as well buy an SSD for the reliability and warranty, oh yeah and the speed. Samsung used to make some pretty reliable mechanical drives several years ago. This is one of those.

5 out of 5 eggs4 Years, No Issues

Pros: Really not much to say, all you want out of an HDD is that it's relatively fast, relatively large, and above all else will last. The only thing you can't tell from the tech specs above is the longevity.

Purchased this drive in August 2011, it's now November 2015 and it's been the main drive for my desktop since then. It's been written to capacity, had files moved onto my external drive, filled to capacity again, so on and so on yet it still keeps going.

Cons: No cons I can think of, I'd get more if they were still up here.

5 out of 5 eggs4 years and 4 months strong

Pros: This hard drive has not failed once despite how heavily I have burdened it with games, videos and photos, partitions, etc.

Samsung did a great job with this hard drive, as its longevity is unrivaled.

Get Samsung drives, whether its SSD or HDD

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsVERY DEPENDABLE, QUIET,FAST AND CHEAP

Pros: AWESOME HARD DRIVES i have had these since my old amd am2 build with an 940 black.

bought 5 for a raid 10 or raid 5 setup over the years. i cannot say how pleased i am with these.
low power
quiet
have ran as raid 5 and 10 and even used 2 in raid 0 with os installed for a few years with the other 3 in the raid 5.

i have not punished these drives mostly just for home video redundant storage. i bought these in 2008 i think for 45 dollars each (this is when 1tb was MASSIVE and most people had 250/500gb drives.

still going and i think will be reused for one last build on z170 asrock extreme 7. ALL sata will be used lol

Cons: non well maybe by today considered slow being the older sata 3 gb's. but who cares for a storage nas for PERSONAL use.
numbers raid zero got 300ish mb/sec
raid 10
raid 5 (3 drives) 75ish read write dont remember parody
etc slows down but still wanna say 50-60ish.

anyway i bought these when seagate/western came out with all this need enterprise drives at 250 ea to do raid craaapp and never failed me once.

Other Thoughts: am i the only guy who actually maxes out the intel sata chipsets????

3 out of 5 eggsGood HDD but not perfect

Pros: *Quiet
*Lasted since 2011 with a lot of use

Cons: Does a humming vibration sound that's pretty annoying

Other Thoughts: It wasn't until recently when I've started to notice a strange vibration on the side of my case that slightly reaches my mouse and I can feel it in my hand. I took off the side panel and put my hand on the HDD cage and sure enough it was this drive doing a hum like vibration. Once you notice it, it's very annoying so I'll most likely be getting rid of this HDD even though it still works fine. My backup 1TB WD blue vibrates but not in this annoying audible humming manner.

5 out of 5 eggsStill running well after 3 years

Pros: Reliable, long-lasting and cost-effective

Cons: It got noisy after two years, but this is completely normal.

Other Thoughts: Honestly, I have no complaints for this hard drive. I only said it was noisy because I was looking for something to complain about. It's totally normal for a hard drive to start making noise after a few years, especially a heavy user like myself, and I've had less than 150gb of free space on it for almost the entire time I've had it.
