5 out of 5 eggsSeagate. All you need to know.

Pros: The 5-year manufacturer warranty, and the fact that I never had to use it. :)

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Replaced this when I upgraded my system with a TB model instead; have it plugged into an enclosure now and use it as a network drive on my router. Still chugging along good as new!

3 out of 5 eggsAverage Reliability

Pros: Good OK drive for everyday use.

Cons: I had bought this drive in May 2009 and then this year in June 2013 I started getting continuous pop up error messages from Windows detecting hard disk problem with hdd and it reporting failure.

So in short this drive lasted me 4 years with approximately 2000 hrs of usage which in my opinion is very low usage.

I had recently started doing a bit of video editing of GoPro Videos /rendering etc and consistently filled up drive to 80% capacity so I am not sure if that took a toll on it.

I ran HD Tune pro to check for disk and it found several failed sectors.

I just bought a Barracuda 1TB hdd so i am transferring all my data to it before this hdd goes kaput

Other Thoughts: Although this drive has been discontinued, for those who own this drive, in my opinion it is reliable drive for everyday less intensive usage

5 out of 5 eggsOne word: Reliable

Pros: This sucker has been chugging along for almost FIVE years in my PC that I use daily for everything, including gaming. I've upgraded other pieces since then, but I haven't really had a reason to upgrade this yet. Reliability is something that is paramount for a HDD, and Seagate delivers. Whenever I decide to buy a new one, it'll be another one of these for sure.

Cons: None. Although after 4.5 years, it might be slightly outdated... ha.

5 out of 5 eggs2 years, still top notch perf.

Pros: My most reliable drive, hasn't hit a temp over 35C in 2 years.
Read time is still at 120 -130 MB/S

Cheap as chimps (when I bought it)
Just bought a WD 500Gb but was really looking for one of these, shame :(

Cons: Its no longer in stock.

Other Thoughts: Why not?

5 out of 5 eggsgood and good rma service

Pros: -its a great hdd
-enough for my needs
-great service if needed
-also ok price
i also got it with a diy kit also purchased here

Cons: none really but my seagate is dead it went from a ddr2 board to a ddr3 990fx board then a power supply killed it not a con just typing

Other Thoughts: well back to the upgrades it went thru 2 cases and three motherboards and no problems tell a ocz refurb psu modular fryed it :( but on plus side im in process of rma thru seagate and they should receive soon i liked that not my fault for killing it GREAT SERVICE small time 2 years but they will take care of me and i will be a seagte customer for life for that thanks seagate for helping me in my time of need

4 out of 5 eggsQuiet and Speedy HDD, Inexpensive,

Pros: SATA 2 Interface? More than enough!

Regardless, very fast! Quiet! Affordable! Five Hundred!

Cons: FIVE HUNDRED!?

Other Thoughts: It's 2012 and SATA 3 SSD make the grade for pure performance, but you can not deny the entry price for a good SATA HDD up to 3+ TB of capacity.
