5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Gave this to my mother in law. I exchange sticks with her so she can have peace of mind without commercials.
Nice remote, not super-duper but does not feel cheap.
Plays all the content I have given her so far with different codecs and such. No jittering or framedrops noted with high-speed 1080p scenes.

Cons: Unit does get hot/warm.
Not taking an egg off for that as I do not see that as a problem, maybe in confined spaces it might be.

Other Thoughts: Did not test any features such as Youtube and Netflix.
Updated the firmware before giving it to her though, just in case.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Product

Pros: Very Reliable it will play for many hours looped.
Great Price

Cons: Can be a little quirky after a few weeks of continuous play but restarting the unit usually fixes it right up. if not reformatting and copying back the USB drives contents will work.

Also it can overheat if you stack them on top of other players. or other devices.

Zoom setting does not stay when repeating.

Other Thoughts: I am sure there are lots of other Pros but my use has been very specific (for digital signage)

3 out of 5 eggsReplaced with a Roku 2

Pros: Plays every file format, including ISO, built in ethernet and WiFi.

Cons: Forgets what file server it is connecting to often. This made it too difficult for my wife and kids to use. When paired with a MyBookLive (which just died), it works good with a Windows file share (until it reboots). However when using the MyBookLive's Twonky server, it cannot support ISO files. This does not have an Amzon player for streaming. Replaced it with a cheaper Roku 2 which is more functional, easier to use, and more reliable.

3 out of 5 eggsNeeds Improvement

Pros: Lots of connection options (local USB, wifi, ethernet); lots of streaming apps (netflix, hulu, etc); simple connections to streaming server (Plex, Twonky, etc); plays literally every format of video file I can find.

Cons: Slow menu system with lots of lag and waiting. Everything works fine, functionally, I just can't be in a hurry when I want to find something to watch.

Other Thoughts: Yes, I have the latest firmware installed. I feel like I'm using AOL sometimes. When I hit a button, it takes anywhere from 3-10 seconds to execute it. When I'm used to xbox, or even my Wii, they can click through faster than that!

5 out of 5 eggsThis thing Rocks!

Pros: It works amazing. Luckily I am very tech savvy and have played around with the different firmwares, but it plays my 1080p AVI files I throw at it flawlessly from just a network shared folder. My family watches Netflix and listens to Pandora on it routinely without any issues. If you are having issues, try a different firmware, and try using it wired vs. wireless as a test. It is possible your wireless network/router has issues. Try 2.4Ghz if you have a problem with the 5Ghz band. 5Ghz has a much smaller range than 2.4Ghz.

Cons: I did not find it sooner.

Other Thoughts: Buy it and read up on it on the web and do some research, it is well worth it. Many features and apps I don't even care to use.

2 out of 5 eggsAnd I buy WD for all my storage needs.

Pros: Looks nice.

Cons: It had a dead power brick on arrival. Some cheap piece of garbage 12V that was all written in Chinese. Only reason I know it's 12V is because of the 12V that you can pick out among all the Chinese writing. I've bought WD for any and all of my storage needs on 8 or 9 PC builds and they've never disappointed me like this. Hopefully they take the initiative and get it solved. The unit itself works, but I had to dig up a laptop 12V. I think for $90 a piece you should send me a out just a 12V plug, thats all I need and this thing will be golden.

Other Thoughts: If WD can fix this in a timely fashion I'll gladly change my review to a 5 Egg, I've dealt with WD many times before and this is the first time they've sent me dead hardware.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: This device has not failed me yet. I love it. I converted all the movies I own to ISO format and it plays it instantly. All 479 movies on a 3TB external HD. Did the firmware update as soon as I received it in and perfect no errors or anything else.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsWorks better than expected

Pros: I have 3 of these and can say they are great. Two are wired one is wireless. The wired units play everything I throw at them, the wireless unit does have issues, but that's due to network problems. I have a media server and use these mainly to watch movies an TV shows so I am very happy. I will be getting 2 more shortly

Cons: No buttons to use if the remote stops working.
