1 out of 5 eggsBad Hard Drive :(

Pros: The original order was processed and shipped fast

Cons: My Son takes care of all my computer needs. He recently preformed a few upgrades and I thought all was well. I am not a happy camper at this moment. He purchased a new hard drive among other items, and the hard drive stopped working with in5 1/2 weeks. I asked for a cross ship for another hard drive (same one) It has been discontinued. New Egg therefore could not send another. Nor Could they refund the money I already spent until I purchased another hard drive and of course the new one is way more costly. The only two options: 1. you buy same day online only a new item so they can refund your card after they receive the original item back and is processed then after that they will put in a request for a refund. OR 2. You send the item back and after they receive and process they will offer online credit. Either way I am out the money from the first purchase and I'm going to have to wait 2weeks for that money back and then I had to pay today the original cost plus $30+ more dollars to replace the discontinued hard drive. If it had been 30 days or less I would still be induring this mess because the item has just been discontinued. Bottom line I think they should have 1. cross shipped a comparable hard drive. 2. Refunding me straight away so I could purchase another thus saving me a lot of time and not making me wait so long for the part and a refund. I don't like being the banker. I could understand if I had the hard drive for six + months out of the 3 year warrentee, but we are talking about 2 weeks or less past the 30 days original purchase date. I know I am on a rant, but this is redonckulous~ Cheri

Other Thoughts: I would like for the customer service to be more user friendly when it comes to a customer receiving a damaged item. Don't make us be the banker. If a refund is due pay it right away, and don't make the customer buy a new product online right then and there before you will consider a owed refund. Not everyone has the money to double pay out of pocket while waiting for your lengthy process.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Deal So Far

Pros: Very Cool, Quiet and Green (low power consumption). The 32Mb cache is a big plus for the price. Shipping was very fast with the priority option.

Cons: ~ none

Other Thoughts: Be aware: the drive comes in a "RAW" OEM format. You will not be able to install an OS onto it until you first do a full low level format. There are free tools for this (HDD Guru) & it takes about 1.5hrs.

Other Thoughts: I just built a system for the first time, and this drive works fine.

1 out of 5 eggsDoA

Pros: Decently Priced Drive

Cons: Drive arrived dead. When I plugged it in, it was recognized as a device in the BIOS, but had a capacity of 0.00Gb.

Other Thoughts: Kind of disappointed, never had an issue with drives I ordered from NewEgg in the past, and this drive was the sole drive in a system I built for a birthday gift.

Manufacturer Response:

We appreciate your feedback and apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced with the WD Green, as this is not the typical experience with the product.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat hard drive for a DVR!

Pros: I bought this drive to upgrade my TiVo Premier to a larger drive and to protect my TiVo lifetime service by cloning the original TiVo drive and placing it in storage as a backup. The new drive runs quiet and is unnoticeable by me, a must for a bedroom TiVo.

Great, quiet hard drive for a DVR.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat 24/7 hdd

Pros: The specs are right on with this drive. It is very quiet and runs cool. Perfect for AV applications.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Purchased this to add an external hdd to my TWC dvr. I connected via an esata cable to a COOLMAX CD-390BK-eSATA 3.5" Black USB & eSATA External Enclosure. Absolutely no complaints.

5 out of 5 eggsNice "Invisible" Drive

Pros: I have had this in my WHS11 build for the past month running essentially non-stop. No heat issues, no noise, no stuttering…honestly, no nothing, which is the way it should be for a drive like this.

Cons: I had considered purchasing 6 of them and running all in a RAID5 setup. Was not cost effective at the time.

Other Thoughts: Nothing to see here.

5 out of 5 eggsNice capacity, works great

Pros: Capacity, price, ease of installation.

You pretty much get what you see here. Installed easily and took the Windows 7 x64 install pretty well. I wanted a sizable capacity at a good price, and this drive did the trick.

Cons: It isn't a SSD or even 10k RPM drive. Of course, that is a big pro when it comes to price, since the price break on HDD/SSD speed is pretty ridiculous yet.

Other Thoughts: Solid drive, shows up in some bubble wrap, plugs in and works.

5 out of 5 eggsgood drive

Pros: 500gb is more than enough for me. it didn't come DOA, which i was extremely happy about.

Cons: none for me, although the speed may be a turnoff for lots of people who need (want) top-of-the-line.

Other Thoughts: does what it's supposed to do. i did not buy this for performance, just needed a boot drive with enough storage and this drive was perfect. for 20-30 bucks more you can get mass storage but i did not need/want) it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive!

Pros: Drive runs absolutely silently and generates almost no heat! Using this as a boot drive in my HTPC paired with a couple WD Green 2tb drives for storage. This drive is surprisingly quick for a 5400 drive and has yet to disappoint. No hiccups. No BSODs.

Cons: None whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: Just as speedy, far more quiet, and much cooler overall than the 160GB Western Digital 7200rpm Blue drive it replaced!
