Pros: Solid build, functions as it should. Had no problems

Cons: The AC adapter cord ripped after extended use. Went on WD website and bought a replacement. However, it wasn't the same model and some numbers didn't match. I got the slow blinking light and it doesn't appear in device manager. I need a replacement GPK Systems AC adapter

4 out of 5 eggsStill Going 4 / 5 yrs later, Under HEAVY USE

Pros: Not to Shabby and a Great Deal when I bought it in 2010. It has been a strong performing device and USED A LOT in the past 4 almost 5 years. Not the fastest, but it's fast enough. That's technology though.. Buy it today and it's old tomorrow..

Cons: The only thing I do not like is the fact that it sometimes
( MOST TIMES ) will not disconnect using the hardware removal Icon. It rarely wants to spin down and let go, even when I can find NOTHING using it in my task manager. IDK, Maybe it's me. I'm not a Tech Geek, I know just enough.

Other Thoughts: I was just looking at my dashboard and realized I never put a review up. I PRAY I did not put the KISS of DEATH on my HD now that I wrote this ??

Pros: 2+ years of use with no issues, with weekly usage. Used in harsh environments, both cold and hot, for large and small file transfers and backups. Also has been fully encrypted numerous times for various projects, formatted full and quick even more times, and semi-abused in travel with no apparent issues.

Cons: Cost (current) - I think this still costs about the same it did for me 2 years ago.. shouldn't it be under $100 now?

3 out of 5 eggsWould Have Been Good, But ...

Pros: Performed well for 9 months. I use WD drives exclusively and this one was great, just like the others. But then it crapped out.

Cons: Mostly dead right now. Not usable. Like many others, I got one from the batch that seemed to have problems. Used this particular one as a backup, so I had to salvage what little I could off of it and recreate the rest from elsewhere. Took me almost 6 weeks.

Other Thoughts: I don't know if there's still bad stock out there, but as a precaution I would suggest you avoiding this particular model. I really like WD drives (I have 5 others), but I guess you wind up with a loser now and then.

Pros: All 5 are working great. not USB 3.0 but working fine otherwise. Now switched to a Drobo with 5 WD Red 3tb hard drives which is thunderbolt and very fast. 27gb takes about 6min. I've had nothing but good luck with WD drives. Had a problem with a Seagate a couple times. Software issues but left a bad taste.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: used as backup drives. never any problems.

Pros: So far the drive has performed well. I have it as a backup drive as well as storing larger data files.

Cons: It can be a bit slow in file transfer at times but it is not too bad.

2 out of 5 eggsAVOID

Pros: It's a hard drive, about average cost, you can store things on it... temporarily anyway.

Cons: Not a year old, purchased from Newegg in late May 2013.
Has lad light use, sitting in a nice cool spot.

Just plain quit this week. Dead.

Just remember, you're going to die someday, you didn't really need all that data, did you?

Other Thoughts: Remember when Western Digital (briefly) was considered the best quality? It seems every label has its turn at the top.
Western Digital's turn as "the reliable drive" has ended.
