This review is from: Corsair Force Series GS CSSD-F360GBGS-BK 2.5" 360GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast

Cons: Died after 2 months. Bios failed to recognize drive. Tried many options to fix the issue with no success.

Other Thoughts: Seems like a regular occurrence with this product. Would not recommend it.

1 out of 5 eggsFast, but dead

This review is from: Corsair Force Series GS CSSD-F360GBGS-BK 2.5" 360GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast drive. Great when it works. No BSOD with Windows 7 64 bit doing games, editing, graphic design, and video processing, etc.

Cons: Drive died 2.5 months after using. No clue how. Computer didn't have issues, didn't do anything out of the norm. BIOS just stopped recognizing drive. Trouble shot the heck out of it ranging from BIOS settings to special programs to special hardware connections and nothing would get it to recognize. Also, the back up I made of the drive was corrupt so I lost quite a bit of information ranging from a $10,000 client project to some scripts I've written. Pretty stressful situation that cost me quite the pretty penny.

Other Thoughts: I've read up on these drives and found a pretty large group of people experiencing the same issue. Not just with Corsair but all SSD's. To me, they seem to know about the issue but released these drives anyway knowing people will lose data pretty quick. I've even talked it over with two different tech guys at Corsair and they know about the issues. So why sell the product if you know it is going to break almost immediately? I got the RMA process going, but I'm a bit frustrated over the fact I now have to pay for shipping, then I paid new price for basically a refurbished drive I'll be getting here shortly. Didn't give me a discount or pay for shipping or even offer a data recovery reimbursement plan. If it happens again, I'll be writing off SSD's, regardless of their great speed and reliability with normal operations.

1 out of 5 eggsBoot Disk Not Found

This review is from: Corsair Force Series GS CSSD-F360GBGS-BK 2.5" 360GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast, worked great when it worked.

Cons: The drive somehow erased its own boot sector. Running a PC, didn't update, shut down the computer after doing some graphic design like any other day, the next morning the drive was gone. BIOS sees it, but can't see what size it is or the information on there. Doesn't see any boot sector on it. Tried repair options through CMD prompt and using the Windows Repair disc. Nothing got it to recognize. Even when the disc is in, windows won't even recognize that the device is there. Lost major client data and about a month of work on the current project. Had drive installed and running for just 2 months.

Other Thoughts: I did some research and apparently many SSD's are frequently eating their own boot sectors. Not sure why, but it seems to be a big issue and Corsair claims to know nothing about it. Maybe I got a bad drive, maybe these SSD's don't have their kinks worked out yet. All I know is I am out a huge paycheck and reputation and all Corsair can do is RMA me a used (instead of new) SSD with the same potential problems.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't last long

This review is from: Corsair Force Series GS CSSD-F360GBGS-BK 2.5" 360GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: None

Cons: Purchased Unit in September and it lasted until 02/01/2014. HUGE issue and not worth the hype. Smaller intel one I purchased is working flawlessly.

3 out of 5 eggsGood till it failed

This review is from: Corsair Force Series GS CSSD-F360GBGS-BK 2.5" 360GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: This drive offered quick boot up with Windows 7. Makes no noise and had plenty of room for my needs.

Cons: This solid state drive failed for me after about 4 months. Worked fine in the morning but then by noon my BIOS did not see it any more. I wasn't expecting it to fail and so soon out of the box. I currently have an RMA in with Corsair to return the drive and hopefully get it replaced.

5 out of 5 eggsWow!

This review is from: Corsair Force Series GS CSSD-F360GBGS-BK 2.5" 360GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast, requires less power, no heat being generated and small sleek size which takes up a lot less space.

Cons: More expensive than a hard drive, but prices are coming down and the performance is awesome.

Other Thoughts: I can sum this SSD up in one word, WOW. I was going to buy 2 replacement hard drives to keep my RAID striped setup but decided to try one of these instead. The performance is just awesome. It use to take Windows 40 seconds or more to load (after the bios post) but now after about 7 seconds the desktop is up and ready to go. Everything loads much faster now and installing updates is a breeze. Takes up a tenth of the space my 2 hard drives took and the speed blows my previous RAID setup away. Like I use to say about the old dial-up modems; I'll never go back. I paid an extra $3 for 3 day shipping and received it in 2 days. Way to go Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive

This review is from: Corsair Force Series GS CSSD-F360GBGS-BK 2.5" 360GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Drive has been running for 1 year 3mo 24/7. Powered down only to add parts to my computer. Was my first and only SSD drive that I have.

Cons: Non

Other Thoughts: Have found out over the last 30 years building and repairing my many computers from the 8088 on up that if you leave them running and do not power them on and off every day the parts last a lot longer. And also have a good UPS battery backup and surge protector between you and the grid things will not break as fast.

5 out of 5 eggsOH MAH GAW

This review is from: Corsair Force Series GS CSSD-F360GBGS-BK 2.5" 360GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: MEGA SPEED BOOST
Boot time 5-7 seconds. WIN 7 Core I5 Dell E5530

Cons: somtimes my laptop bios won't see the drive so i have to hit f8 then force it to use the HDD but that's pretty minor considering I never turn it off. It always goes to sleep .

3 out of 5 eggsDecent

This review is from: Corsair Force Series GS CSSD-F360GBGS-BK 2.5" 360GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: The drive is relatively affordable for an SSD and performs quite well.

Cons: The high pitched whine produced by the drive, especially during heavy throughput, is quite irritating. It's not particularly loud with the case closed, but it's a pitch that really grabs your attention.

Other Thoughts: The noise is my only complaint but it's enough of a factor that I would not purchase this drive again if I had need for another SSD.
