3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good set of RAM, fast speeds, wasn't DoA.

Cons: Came Factory tuned at 1600, when I paired it with my ASUS X79-Deluxe, I manually went into BIOS to set the clock at 1866 but it tends to give me problems during POST, often looping upon itself. Just doesn't seem to want to work properly. Sucks cause I paid for 1866 but only got 1600.

Other Thoughts: I previously used this on a MSI Z87-G45 mobo and manually changed the clock settings from 1600 to 1866 with no problems at all. I don't understand why it is giving me problems this time around.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Glad to hear the RAM is working well in your system. If you have issues reaching the rated specifications, don't worry, we are more than glad to help. With one module installed, enable XMP Profile in EFI and see how that works. If both modules work fine individually, they should work fine together. Also, make sure the memory is installed in the correct slots. Should problem persist, contact the G.Skill support team and they will make sure the memory is working fast and stable in your computer.

Thank you

4 out of 5 eggsObnoxious heat spreader

Pros: Fast RAM
Easy to install
Works perfectly

Cons: Had to manually set the 1866 speed in BIOS. It was 1600 from factory.

The "heat spreaders" are taller than I was expecting. They didn't fit underneath my cooler so I had to remove the fins on one of the ram sticks. Turns out, THE HEAT SPREADERS ARE ATTACHED WITH FOAM TAPE. Now correct me if I'm wrong, foam is an insulator, no? The heat spreaders are purely cosmetic and are actually detrimental to the heat dissipation. How ironic.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality RAM

Pros: Quality, cool running DRAM. Excellent fitment and attractive appearances. Heat spreader makes it easy to install

Cons: a bit pricier than other options, but probably worth the additional cost

Other Thoughts: I got 2 to run in dual channel mode, but I have 4 RAM slots. I'm wondering if I buy 2 more, if they will play well together...

1 out of 5 eggsWHO CAN YOU TRUST????

Pros: Hopefully G.Skill will contact me and help me resolve my issue.

G.Skill is one of (if not) the BEST memory makers.

Cons: G.SKILL lists this memory as WILL WORK with the ASUS Z87 PRO Motherboard. I purchase it based on that. HOWEVER, ASUS themselves does not list this memory as being compatible - with good reason - IT's NOT. At stock speeds (memory was recognized as 1600) it was EXTREMELY UNSTABLE. Both XMP profiles for this memory with the Z87 PRO would not work, and in fact showed different specs than what this memory is listed at. Both XMP profiles would cause the computer to not boot/post at all, or do a endless restarting of the computer - but never posting.

Other Thoughts: When ordering parts for a build, it can take a month (or more) to collect the parts you want. Unfortunately for me, i have surpassed NEWEGGS 30 DAY Policy on returning.

What i would really want however is for G.Skill to swap this memory out for memory that is ON Asus's approved list. I JUST WANT A WORKING COMPUTER! I have always used and trusted GSKILL, This is the first time EVER ive had an issue with any of their memory,

I rated it 1 star only because it didn't work for me. That doesn't mean its bad memory. it's probably great memory (knowing G.Skill with the right motherboard. But i am saddened that G.Skill lists this as being compatible with the "ASUS Z87 PRO" while ASUS does not. Who can you trust?

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We can surely assist you with any RAM problems. This memory kit is compatible with the ASUS Z87 PRO motherboard. With a capable CPU, the system should be very fast with XMP enabled. If you experience problems, test one module at a time to see if each can work individually. If a module performs differently, send the memory in for RMA exchange and a replacement should work better. With regards to the QVL lists, both sides are correct, testing is done independently by each company. As long as the hardware combination is mentioned on one end, the system should be perfectly stable. For any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Customer Support

Pros: Stable, fast memory once you get ones that work.

Cons: One of the pair had problems

Other Thoughts: I bought a pair of these and a new motherboard over a year ago. They pair would fail memtest86+ in dual channel mode, but would pass in single channel mode. Being the only DDR3 motherboard I had at the time, I didn't know if it was the motherboard or the memory. So I just ran them in single channel mode. Fortunately it is a four slot motherboard so I have that option.

A year later I upgraded another computer in the house with a DDR3 motherboard, and with it one of the pair would consistently fail the tests. So, a year and 2 months after purchasing the module, I requested and received an RMA from G.SKILL. I shipped the bad module to them, and they sent me a working replacement a few days later. That is what I call standing behind one's products.

I'll be buying G.SKILL memory from now on.

5 out of 5 eggsGood ram

Pros: Stable, fast ram.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: Got this before ram prices doubled and it was a really good deal. I plan to eventually use it in an APU build to take advantage of the speed.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy to use nice ram.

Pros: Nice G.skill ram as always, easy to setup just go into bios set xmp profile 1 or 2, reboot saving changes and its running at speed.

Cons: none worked great.

Other Thoughts: This ram runs at 1600 until you set your xmp profile in bios, or you can set it manually, if you want to run this in 1600 you can just set the timings to 9-9-9-24 yourself instead of using the loose timings it defaults too for 1600.

5 out of 5 eggsLooks Awesome

Pros: These look awesome, and perform better. Has 2 XMP profiles that my AMD board reads and the SPD profile. I've took them up to 2100 through the FSB at 1.55v stable. Works great paired with my FX-6300 and 8+2 phase Gigabyte board.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Comes with a case badge, got with a $5 promo.
