4 out of 5 eggsG.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB

Pros: - Sleek-looking heat spreader design.
- Nice blue color, if you care about that sort of thing.
- Simple moron-proof packaging.
- Reliable brand name.

Cons: None. For now.

Other Thoughts: This has nothing to do with the kit itself, but for some reason Newegg only offered Purolator as a shipping option. Normally, I don't care who ships, but in this case, Purolator was terrible.

The RAM arrived a week and a half after the rest of the gear I ordered (at the same time, mind you) and the delivery guy was probably among the worst I've ever seen. The driver couldn't find parking, so he completely passed my address over and didn't bother trying again. They only re-delivered it after several attempts explaining that I couldn't pick it up at their depot, seeing as they choose to build them in remote, unlivable hellscapes at the edge of nowhere!

Seriously, unless you have no other choice, ignore Purolator.

Again, this in no way reflects poorly on G.Skill or their RAM kit, just a shipping issue.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent RAM

Pros: - Good speed, plenty fast
- cl8 is definitely a plus for timing
- works at rated speed and timings
- lifetime warranty
- looks great and matches my mobo
- on my mobo, with a 212 EVO, the RAM just clears the fan
- scores a full 7.9 on WEI

Cons: RAM is pricey these days

Other Thoughts: This is an update to a previous review. I originally bought 8 Gb four months ago, and loved them so much I just bought another 8 Gb - 16 Gb running in dual channels. I was doing some editing with Sony Vegas and found that it was maxing out all 8 Gb's. The additional 8 has made a big difference. Now it is using up to 14 Gb in editing and rendering. However, for gaming and basic Windows tasks, 8 Gb was perfectly fine. SO if you're considering this RAM, 8 will be plenty for normal avge use, including gaming, but go at least 16 for vid editing.

Also my mobo ID'd the RAM right away, but at a slower speed and timing. I manually set the timings (easy enough in UEFI BIOS), but I expected that, so it now runs perfectly at rated speed.

Probably the best bang for buck in terms of speed and timings at this level, because of the cl8 timings at 1600. This would probably be comparable to 1866 @ cl10 or 11.

5 out of 5 eggsG.Skill Rocks Again

Pros: Very fast memory. Had to use the XMP Profile and set the voltage to 1.5, but that's nothing if you have any P.C. skills at all. I've had 2 sets of this memory in my P.C. for close to 3 yrs with no problems at all. My P.C. boots into Windows 7, 64 bit in 19 seconds without a SSD. As always, very fast shipping from Newegg.

Cons: The only Con I have is the lack of intelligence and or skills of some of the people giving reviews. Either you didn't do the research to see if these will work in your motherboard or because of your lack of skill you shouldn't be putting memory in any computer. Don't blame that on G.Skill, try looking in a mirror. With over 20 yrs. experience building and working on computers I know what I'm talking about, I doubt you do.

Other Thoughts: I have been using G.Skill for years and the reason I do is they don't let me down. If you think just because they are reasonably priced that that makes them cheap then please go pay more money for another brand.

5 out of 5 eggsG.Skill is Top Notch

Pros: Very fast
Stays cool
excellent quality
Heatsinks look terrific
Purchased at a great price

Cons: NONE !

Other Thoughts: Bought 16GB of this ram for a new build for my wife. Was running 4GB of G.Skill DDR 3200 in her previous PC and they still work great and I have 8GB of DDR2 1066 running in my PC for the last 5 yrs.
Bought these on sale at a very good price with a 15% off.
The heatsinks fit nicely in the MB and have lots of clearance with the aftermarket cooler.
Using the XMP Profile to set the timings to 8-8-8-24 was a snap.
G.Skill is a great product.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat overall memory.

Pros: Overclocks well:
Voltage: 1.57v
Frequency: 1000mhz (DDR3-2000)
Timings: 10-10-8-27 (2N)

Cons: In both motherboards, I had to configure the BIOS to run at the advertised timings. The XMP profile doesn't seem to want to load by default.

Other Thoughts: I've had this memory for over a year on two different motherboards. These are a tank and the timings are tight and run exactly as advertised.

One year later I began overclocking this memory.

Results are great! This is a significant improvement with very little voltage increase and minute loosening of timings. This memory can go well above 1000mhz, however the advanced timings need to be loosened for this. Even with voltage 1.675 and timings 13-13-13-34, it couldn't run stable. I didn't have the patience to loosen and tighten 20 timings rather than the primary 4, so I dropped it back down to 2000, tightened the timings as low as possible, and then lowered the voltage to its lowest stable point. Stability testing was done with HCI Memtest, Prime95 Blend, and OCCT Linpack.

5 out of 5 eggsA must buy 8GB

Pros: Great set! I'd expect nothing less from G.Skill by now though. They've always put out superior products.

Cons: None really.. unless you would consider 1600 as a con.. but if that was the case... then you wouldn't be buying these anyway
