5 out of 5 eggsStill going

Pros: Still going strong after 2.5 yrs. Not a single issues since the day i bought it.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have always started from a fresh install when using a SSD as an OS drive, in order to make sure it sets everything windows needs to set to use a SSD as the windows disk drive.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed after ~2months

Pros: *

Cons: I have had to replace the drive once already for a similar reason. The drive worked great for about ~2months then would constantly crash. Very poor product. Also the RMA process was very long and I didn't receive a new drive for replacement for nearly a month.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you are not satsifed with the solid state drive. This is a very high speed performing SATA II SSD so you should be pleased with the result. It is strange the drive randomly failed, please send it in for RMA and a replacement should work better. All G.Skill Phoenix II series SSDs are backed by a 3 year warranty. At any time the drive is not working as it should, you can send it in for RMA to receive a new one. A new SSD should perform better and last much longer. Please visit the Official G.Skill website for complete RMA procedure. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

1 out of 5 eggsThe ssd failed after 1.5 years

Pros: *

Cons: I find it interesting how G.Skill throws statements like this on here "Especially for a critical piece of hardware such as your main drive, we understand a quick turn around time is necessary to get your system back up to speed." and then FORCE some of us to wait over 5 weeks for a replacement ssd. Thank you for the prolonged down time of my business computer.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Your patience is greatly appreciated during the RMA processing time. The SSD should arrive shortly so your system will be back up to speed. It is strange the drive became defective, but with the latest firmware and drivers, the replacement should work very well. Whether for gaming, business, or basic use, the G.Skill solid state drive can greatly enhance performance. Should you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to contact us directly.

1 out of 5 eggsPOOR G.SKILL SERVICE

Pros: .

Cons: The ssd failed after 1.5 years

Other Thoughts: The ssd failed after 1.5 years, ok it happens BUT.... Its been over 5 weeks since G.Skill received my broken ssd and STILL no replacement because the part is on back order. Here is a crazy idea G.Skill, come up with a backup plan to send your customers working replacement ssd (equal or better specs) instead of forcing us into a month long computer down time. All I got so far from them is empty apologies, unfortunately I can't install Windows on apologies. Nice way to treat loyal customers.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We apologize for any delay. Please contact the G.Skill RMA department directly for a status update. It should not take long for a replacement. If an item is not available, it can be replaced with another product with identical or similar specifications. Once you receive the new SSD, your computer should be fast and stable. For any further questions or concerns, feel free to let us know.

2 out of 5 eggsFailed after just over 2 years.

Pros: Was a fast drive for an early adopter.
Worked well enough while it lasted.

Cons: Drive failed after 2.5 years of use. Started having issues with Windows BSODing. Then after about a 3 days of problems, it's no longer recognized by the BIOS.

Other Thoughts: Called the tech support number listed in the response from G.SKILL to another user.. Was told they don't do RMAs over the phone and I *had* to email in the form. So, the number is pretty useless and having to send in the form and wait the extra time just to get a # before mailing it is pretty annoying.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We are sorry to bother you. We will seriously consider your case and improve our RMA process.

Thank you for choosing G.SKILL products.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Super Fast, good capacity, excellent firmware

Cons: Failed after 1.5 years, covered by warranty, free replacement, super easy.

Other Thoughts: Works awesome, had an odd failure related to waking up from sleep mode. Easily RMA'd.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsWas nice while it worked.

Pros: It worked right out of the box. I had no problems setting it up as my OS drive, and it worked great. The speeds were close to what they had advertised on the site when I benchmarked it and I noticed a substantial decrease in loading times for any programs loaded onto the drive. I would have gotten another to Raid 0 with, but my system has no raid controller. For the time I had it the drive was great. I hope that the one I got was just a fluke model.

Cons: The drive BSOD on me and failed to be recognized on the BIOS or OS. I got the SSD on 2/2/2012,and installed it on the same day. The drive died on 4/16/2012, therefor making the lifespan of the drive just over two months. I have had HDD drives last 5+ years and with this being a new tech I would understand problems, but this isn't a tech that just came out this year, it has been around for some time. I would expect it to last at least the amount of time the lifetime warranty covers. I could have just gotten a bad drive, but we will have to wait and see how my next drive works out. I contacted GSkill's tech support and they were unable to help me remedy the problem and I was forced to RMA. I have not yet received the replacement but we will see ho well that goes. Up to this point though I have to say that GSkill has great customer service and it took only a few days to go from tech support helping me to try and fix the problem to them uissuing me a RMA number and having it sent in.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. We are sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with the SSD drive. Prior to installing an operating system, make sure SATA mode is set to AHCI mode for this SSD's port. Without this change, the SSD will be treated as an HDD, and that can damage/corrupt the drive. With the proper configuration, you should experience very good performance results. In RAID 0, it can double performance and reach SATA III speeds.

The G.Skill RMA process is quick and hassle free, so your computer should be back up to speed in no time. Should you have any further questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly.

2 out of 5 eggsBarely Lasted a year

Pros: Fast, ran like a champ with a 7.4 WEI while it lasted

Cons: PC started locking up randomly about 3 weeks ago, it progrssively got worse until it wouldn't even startup. I tested everything in the pc in hopes that something else went wrong, but the harddrive ended up being the issue. Installed fresh on a physical disk after removing this SDD and everything was back to normal.

Other Thoughts: When it comes to this technology, it may be wise to spend a little more and go with a more reputable manufacture.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you had issues. Please make sure SATA mode is configured to AHCI mode in BIOS. If not, the operating system will treat the SSD as a HDD, and degrade the drive over time. To solve this issue, you can run the Parted Magic utility (can be found on G.Skill forum) to refresh the drive to new condition, then check SATA mode and re-image/install the operating system. For any further questions or issues, feel free to contact us directly, or join the Official G.Skill Forum.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat when it worked, but short lifespan

Pros: It was fast and easy to install. Performance subjectively was on par with our other SSDs (Intel and OCZ) and faster than the samsung SSDs we had in our laptops.

Cons: Everything seemed ok .... then it refused to post, can not be detected, and now it's a light paperweight. Very frustrating

I'm hoping the RMA process goes well with G.Skill as the drive should still be under warranty

Other Thoughts: Very disappointed in how short this lasted - this was in my wife's PC which sees VERY light use (may get powered on once every 2 weeks or so as she uses her laptop for most tasks). Now I have the pleasure of reinstalling Windows.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear the SSD is defective. Please send it in for RMA exchange and we will be more than glad to send you a new replacement.
