OCZ Vertex 3 Solid State Drives unleash the performance potential of the SATA 6Gbps interface, leading the speed revolution in this next-generation solution. As the first SSD to feature the latest SandForce controller design, OCZ designed the Vertex 3 to push the limits in both sequential and random read/write rates to blaze past the competition when every MB/s matters. With incredible 4k file writes up to 60,000 IOPS, these latest drives take productivity, gaming, and multimedia applications to the next level to work in perfect symmetry with the latest enthusiast platforms.

Built with the quality, reliability, and durability that lives up to the OCZ name, the Vertex 3 Series easily integrates into today’s mobile and desktop platforms and features TRIM support to optimize performance over the drive’s lifespan as the ultimate Windows 7 companion.

  • newegg Industry-Leading Performance & Endurance Driven by the second generation of SandForce SSD controller (SF-2200), the Vertex 3 Series is designed and built to unleash the full potential of the 6Gbps SATA III interface. The Vertex 3 pushes the limits in both sequential and random data transfer rates, significantly improving your productivity, gaming, multimedia, and overall computing experience. In addition, the SSD controller’s integrated enhanced DuraClass Technology is architected to leverage today’s densest MLC NAND Flash memory, delivering best-in-class performance, endurance, security, and power efficiency in a “DRAM-less”, single chip solution.
  • newegg A Superior PC Experience In addition to maximum performance, a Vertex3 upgrade promotes cooler, quieter, and more energy efficient conditions compared to traditional mechanical hard drives. With no moving parts, SSDs provide peace of mind with their superior durability and reliability. Vertex 3 SSDs work in perfect harmony with next generation platforms and operating systems to deliver the ultimate storage solution.
  • newegg TRIM Support The Vertex 3 Series SSDs offer native TRIM support featured in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Designed to maintain the performance of SSD at an optimal level over the lifetime of the drive, TRIM functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSD’s memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command.

5 out of 5 eggsrecieved quickly

Pros: I have been happy with new egg products, and service. so I am not too afraid of buying 2 reconditioned ssd. delivery was quick

Cons: no cons yet I cant use them yet the computers I bought them for are way too old. I should of actually looked at the computers first. so now I am building 2 computers hoping the cases will work

Other Thoughts: I have 2 terabytes that are at purolator hoping to build a couple of very fast computers. one for myself ansd one to sell. my old ASUS built in 2008 is upgraded but has a limit of 8 GB of ram, run on XP pro and windows 8. windows XP is letting me use 3.5GB of ram. it has a 120 SSD with windows 8 on it as the O/S drive and 2 other hard drives for storage. 500GBand 750GB bought in 2008. will be kept in the guest room its still fast enough. looking forward to buying 2 motherboards from newegg and building 2 new ones, I really like the board with 2 processors on it

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Two of these in raid 0 64kb on Asrock Extreme 3 Gen 3 got 1gb read/write on Atto. Realistically probably closer to 850-950mb range. Still eye popping. Came in brand new shrink wrapped boxes with screws, 3.5" bracket, sticker and literature.

Cons: None at this price.

Other Thoughts: Ordered 2, firmware on one was 2.24, the other was 2.22. Updated the firmware on both to ensure stability and compatibility. But as any hardware guru worth their salt knows, raid 0 rides on a hope and a prayer. So when you do raid 0 you do it with the expectation that at some point it's going to crash and burn. Don't do it on mission critical machines. Nuff said.

1 out of 5 eggsBad drive, failed in a couples of weeks

Pros: It was fast when it was working

Cons: Died in a couple of weeks after installation. Windows does not see it even in Drive Manager... Newegg return warranty is just for 30 days, so I got stocked with a dead drive and not working computer...

Other Thoughts: Never buy refurbished drives! Especially OCZ!

5 out of 5 eggsGood SF-2281 based ssd

Pros: Very good quality ssd, based on SF-2281. Currently run two Vertex 3 60gb in raid 0 and they score 780mb/s read and 170mb/s write in As Ssd which is very good for the 60gb Vertex 3.

If the Firmware version is below version 2.11 then update the firmware to the latest which is firmware 2.25.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Ocz bootable tools is required to update the firmware.

3 out of 5 eggsOh yeah.....Oh.....

Pros: Great speed and boot up time when installed properly and settings configured for unecessary writes to go to other drives.
Got these on a nice discount, purchased 2.

Cons: Of course, you need a second drive. Not a drawback.
Troubles at boot, this drive went from a 20 second to login, everything running after logging in, to a 30 second wait to log in, and then freezes application for about 20 seconds. Not happy.
Within the last few days, the drive is not detected at boot, have to restart for it to be detected ( Bios settings have be set to default after a problem with it loading to the log in )

Other Thoughts: 1 drive has given me many problems, i went from " oh yeah, this drive is awesome' to ' Oh...this is not good ' in a matter of 2 weeks. The second drive I purchased was installed in a laptop roughly a week ago, and has all the -same- basic applications and software loaded on to it, but works as close to perfectly as I imagine it could (like the first drive 2 weeks ago ). I've tried looking up support for this type of problem, however most anwsers I come accross say 'Defrag your HDD' and im not trying to wreck it.
