OCZ Agility 2 SATA II 3.5” Solid State Drives deliver the same performance as the 2.5” edition in a larger form factor to easily integrate into desktop applications without the need to install additional hardware, with additional value than the original at a lower cost per gigabyte. Designed to excel in both sequential and random read/write speeds up to 10,000 4KB random write IOPS, the 3.5” Agility 2 maximizes productivity when using as a primary storage or boot drive, minimizing program load times and completing tasks with blazing speed.

Using the latest controller technology with mainstream IOPS performance for a more cost-effective solution, the 3.5” Agility 2 provides a faster, more responsive PC experience complete with TRIM support to keep your drive operating at peak performance in Windows 7 systems. Built with SATA 3Gb/s, Agility 2 3.5” drives easily integrate into today’s desktop platforms as the ultimate storage upgrade.

  • newegg Cool, quiet and durable operation OCZ Agility 2 SSDs feature a durable yet lightweight housing, and because they have no moving parts, they are more rugged than conventional hard discs. Available in ample 90GB to 480GB capacities, the Agility 2 is an ideal hard drive replacement for first-time SSD upgraders in need of primary desktop storage or a spacious application and OS boot drive.
  • newegg Ultimate reliability Designed for ultimate reliability, Agility 2 Series SSDs have an excellent 2 million hour mean time between failure (MTBF) ensuring peace of mind over the long term. Agility 2 Series comes backed by a 3-year warranty and award-winning technical support for the ultimate peace of mind.
  • newegg TRIM Support The OCZ Agility 2 Series SSDs offer native TRIM support that can be enabled in Windows 7. Designed to maintain the performance of SSD at an optimal level over the lifetime of the drive, TRIM functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSD’s memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command.
  • newegg SATA 3.0 Gb/s Interface The OCZ Agility 2 Series SSDs feature the next-generation SATA II interface supporting up to 3.0 Gb/s data transfer rates and Native Command Queuing (NCQ) for optimum performance, efficiency, convenience and flexibility.

3 out of 5 eggsSSD Died with No Warning

Pros: I bought in the unit in March 2011 and installed on my Dell Workstation. I was totally satisfied with the speed of my video editing applications.

Cons: Well, here we are in January 2013 and with no warning, the drive just died. I tried putting the drive on different SATA connectors on the motherboard and on another computer with no luck. It is dead, dead, dead and I'm having to spend a lot of time re-installing Windows 7 and applications on a new hard drive.

5 out of 5 eggsBest SSD I've Had!

Pros: Good Price, Very low heat and power consumption, Fast, Reliable.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Most other SSDs that I've dealt with have hard errors from time to time, or problems with data corruption at sustained high-speed use. This drive has never had a hard error, and I measured it's through-put as about 95% of rated maximum. Great little drive. It also has built in TRIM, which saves time on drive operations.

1 out of 5 eggsComplete junk

Pros: Fast, when works

Cons: This drive has a tendency to fail. As soon as data gets corrupted, the drive -- when it reads that location -- chokes, and the drive loses all contact with the PC. You have to go into BIOS to get it back! This is an annoyance when the drive is a extra storage. This is catastrophic when it is your boot drive. Once this happens, there is nothing for it. You can sometimes copy data file by file, sometimes not. After I secure erased the drive (per OCZ support) it worked for awhile. I had to rebuild Windows from scratch, but I didn't lose anything important. Second time it has crashed with the same problem, I'm sending it back to OCZ. I can't keep messing with it. I need my system to work.

Other Thoughts: I've read that sleep mode can cause problems, or power outages, or really anything that makes the ssd lose power for a millisecond. Sorry, but in my opinion, its not ready for prime time if you can't handle the little stuff.

1 out of 5 eggsWas great when it worked

Pros: Very fast drive at a good price. I was happy until crash time.

Cons: Got the nasty awake-from-sleep BSOD after about six months. Drive was completely dead. So, I needed to pay for shipping for the drive, and it's been sitting at OCZ since 12/07 (three weeks) with no status update. I was hoping for much better service. Definitely will not buy OCZ again.

Manufacturer Response:

We are very sorry for the delay. Please call us at (408) 733-8400, ext 406 so we can look into and provide you with an update on your RMA. We care about our customers and are here to help. Thank you

1 out of 5 eggsWhy are they selling Junk?

Pros: It was fast when it was working. I bought this drive last March and it has been great.

Cons: Died about 3 weeks ago. I walked it to my office, I had been using the computer earlier, and the hard drive was dead. I wasn't even using the computer when it died. When I bought this drive, it had a lot of good reviews and that was the main reason I choose this drive. Now, most of the reviews are bad and for good reason. Why does OCZ sell junk like this?

Other Thoughts: Buy Plextor or Samsung unless you enjoy sending your dead drive back to OCZ

1 out of 5 eggsOCZ is worthless

Pros: Nothing pro about it.

Cons: Horrible. Died in a month. OCZ Charged me for shipping to return it. Then charged me to cross ship a new one which took almost 2 weeks from some other country!

Other Thoughts: Go check out Samsung! They rock! Have not had any die yet!

1 out of 5 eggs2 strikes, 1 to go

Pros: Fast, this thing would boot my Win7 almost as fast as a Mac.

Cons: Died, this was my second drive and working an RMA for a third.

Other Thoughts: 1st drive arrived fast from Newegg, but the drive failed during the Win7 install and would not be recognized by the motherboard BIOS. Newegg was good about the RMA and sent me out a second drive. The second drive was working great for five months until it started failing (causing blue screen) and now will not be recognized by motherboard. Working the RMA with OCZ now and would love to get a different model or brand.

1 out of 5 eggsBeware. Unless you like reinstalling windows.

Pros: Incredibly fast. When it worked.

Cons: Expensive paper-weight.

These drives have a known -- but unfixed -- firmware issue. I won't lay this entirely at OCZ's feet, as it seems all SandForce drives have the issue.

My drive lasted 5 months, working fine. Suddenly, Windows 7 began locking up, and the drive would disappear from the BIOS until I power cycled. The issue occured each and every time I did anything data intensive... for instance every time I tried to copy data off the failing drive. I had to reinstall my whole OS and programs to my original HDD.

Other Thoughts: You should be forewarned. The drives are expensive. There is a lot of effort in just moving your OS over to them (which is, really, the point of buying a superfast drive). Paragon Migrate OS is a great tool for this. However, after all that work, you can expect them to fail. READ THE FORUMS AT THE MANUFACTURER. If you simply must have one. Don't make the mistake I did. Make sure you are making regular backups onto a drive you can boot from. (Not just images, but an actual bootable drive.) You'll need it... unless rebuilding Windows is your cup of tea.

Manufacturer Response:

We are very sorry for the difficulties. Although we find that only a small percentage of our total customers have similar issues, we take all problems seriously. We do have new firmware, and are hard at work to solve every customer concern brought to our attention. We do recommend that customers visit our support forums for more information at the link below. Thank you
