5 out of 5 eggsConsider!

Pros: Unlike other drives this box is loaded! Power cable converter, sata cable, 3.5 mounting bracket, screws, and of course the unnecessary but cool speed demon sticker. Also good directions. I didn't need them but have read complaints on other drives having shotty directions. I know the sticker comment degraded my reliability but I bought two of these one in a hp refurb desktop and one in a toshiba notebook. both computers have been running 6 months+ and run very fast with no failure. these are both xp machines but the boot time was reduced dramatically on both. I did not time them but rest assured they are fast. the response time is incredible. These aren't even the faster of the intel drives and I am still impressed. It will be hard for me not to buy an intel for my newest hand-me-down toshiba laptop.

Cons: warranty shorter than some other brands 3 years.

Other Thoughts: Don't know why people complain about brand premium in the review but already bought the item, or that it is too small. Who knowingly buys a 60GB drive to complain in their product review it is small. I knew what space it was and used accordingly.

5 out of 5 eggsMy First Choice

Pros: Speed, brand, SandForce Controller, and sale priced at just $59!!! Used in both desktops and laptops without a problem. Over 10 purchased in the past year and no bricks or failures so far.

Cons: None so far, but price has jumped.
Avoid the Intel controller found in SSD 330s that brick.
This SSD uses a Sandforce controller from LSI.

Other Thoughts: With laptops failing often within a year, I tell all my customers to keep their important data files on an external drive, server, or in their cloud storage. Then I offer to speed up their laptop or desktop with this drive. Desktops can always have a slave rotating drive installed for heavy storage of music and video. Even high end laptops have a second storage bay which can hold a large drive for backups and more storage.
This SSD is a good way to speed up your computer if storage capacity is not a problem.

5 out of 5 eggsVery worthwhile upgrade

Pros: + Can reduce OS boot times by more than 50%

+ Silent

+ Intel reliability

Cons: - 60GB is not a lot of space in this day and age, even for just OS partitions

- SSDs are still much more expensive per GB than traditional hard drives

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend using this only for OS partitions to significantly decrease your boot time. (If it's faster game loading you're after, you'll probably want more than 60GB.)

For best results, put your swap file/partition on a separate, traditional hard drive (not an SSD) and enable TRIM if your OS supports it.

4 out of 5 eggsIntel 330 Series Maple Crest SSD

Pros: Very fast, came with a sticker and 3.5" mounting hardware, great warranty. Fantastic price.

Cons: Has a possible compatibility issue with Windows 8 but that is Microsoft's fault.

5 out of 5 eggsDependable, fast

Pros: Boot startup greatly enhanced coming from a standard harddrive. Also processes game elements a bit faster using it as the saving partition.

Cons: None really, except I regret only buying 60G worth...

Other Thoughts: Great for speed, not for storage. Get a higher capacity GB model if you want both speed and memory.

5 out of 5 eggsFast.

Pros: Intel Reliability. Fast, low power usage. No moving parts, and virtually zero heat.

Cons: None yet. Few dollars more than similarly-sized competition, but you get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: Installed in an always-on remote serial data collection computer. Went with the Intel SSD since reliability is paramount given it's a 2-hour drive out to the site if something fails. Given that it's in a fanless system, low power/heat production was a requirement.

Don't know how fast it really could be since the Atom board it's connected to is SATAII, but it seems to completely max out the board's connection SATA-300 at a flat 255MB/s. FYI: SATA is 300 theoretical. If you get 80% of theoretical on any interface, you're probably at max real limit for that interface.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent SSD

Pros: Fast, reliable and a perfect size for a OS disk.

Cons: Should have gotten a bigger drive to store applications on it.
