Manufacturer Warranty

Parts
5 years limited
All Intel SSD 520 products sold in the OEM boxes have a five-year limited warranty term; however, the warranty includes a "Media Wearout" limitation. The Media Wearout limitation provides that the warranty shall expire when the usage of the drive has reached a predetermined usage limit established by Intel, which could result in a warranty term much shorter than five years for drives used in heavy-use, enterprise applications. The Media Wearout is determined by Intel's implementation of the SMART attribute "E9" Media Wearout indicator (as measured by and shown in the Intel SSD Toolbox, www.intel.com/go/ssdtoolbox). At any point during the warranty term, if the Media Wearout Indicator reads "1", as measured by the Intel SSD Toolbox, then the drive has reached its wear limit and the Limited Warranty at that point expires, regardless of how much time may have been remaining on the five-year term. This Media Wearout limitation is imposed due to the greater workload demands of enterprise/data center deployment on SSDs.

5 out of 5 eggsNoticeably fast, great for gamers.

Pros: -Fast enough for me, I notice a difference if I put games on it or use the Intel Rapid Storage Technology alongside it. It's able to quickly access Fraps Video and Picture files much much faster than what I had before.

Cons: -An absolute awful paint job compared to Samsungs series SSDs. It was bare uncoated metal on mine that easily scratched.
-I'm not a big fan of case badges, but if they give them to me I'll put them on, but the case badge for this SSD is absolutely horrendous.
-Funny to note that both cons have to deal with design, not performance. Intel should stick with their technology and forget about design.

Other Thoughts: -If you're interested in design, such as you want this to be in an external SSD for a laptop, not a good buy. If you're going to have this buried in the desktop, absolutely worth the buy however there may be better SSDs for the price.

2 out of 5 eggsSomething's not right here...

Pros: Fast, quiet, and low watt power usage for my laptop (slightly better battery life)

Cons: Simply doesn't work with my Macbook Pro. Freezes and crashes every hour or so and just makes my system totally unstable. I've read a lot reviews about this and it looks like I'm not the only one. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. I think it might be a firmware issue, but my SSD was shipped with the most recent one (as of 2/4/13). Sad to say I won't be using an Intel SSD until this issue has been addressed.

Other Thoughts: I will be looking at other SSD brands for my Macbook Pro. I had just wished I returned it sooner considering Newegg's return policy..now I'm stuck with paperweight

5 out of 5 eggsGood So Far

Pros: Installed easily. Painless software install from Intel site. Got it for $99.00. Used the Intel data migration software, worked great.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Only time will tell if this is a good drive. So far it's doing great.

5 out of 5 eggsALL of the speed is MINE

Pros: I will never go back to a HDD after this. I waited a while for SSD's. This is my first. 15 seconds boot time and unbelievable install/transfer speeds. Reliable and fast. Have an HDD for data/movies/music. literally save 35 seconds every restart/start-up and tons of time while using it.

Cons: Can't think of one. Price maybe? but it's so fast and reliable.

Other Thoughts: I researched and read everywhere I could to get a sense of what I should buy. it was between the Intel 520 and the Samsung 830 series. The 830 is a little cheaper and a little slower, which means it was completely sold out. I am more than happy with this. I get a little faster speeds than equitable samsung 830;s and the firmware and everything is GREAT on the intel. Reliable and fast. love this ssd.

I usually try to get like 7/10 in performance and 9/10 in reliability to buy a reasonable price point device for almost anything with electronics. This is probably an 8/10 in performance and a 10/10 in reliability for just a few dollars more. And now I probably pushed myself into always wanting to buy intel SSD's from here on out. They just made another loyal customer for their memory market.

5 out of 5 eggsKing of the SSDs

Pros: Best bang for the buck of several SSD choices. I have a few older SSD raid pair 0's off raid cards and they give me hd tune 200 score. this raid 0 pair off an Asus mb gives me a thousand! ( thats 1000 ) for $250 versus $420 for OCZ Revodrive 3 X2 giving an HD tune score of only 400.
My passmark score of over 8K was higher too. My Atto score of 1000 was lower than the ocz 1400/1600.

Cons: Can't think of any.

Other Thoughts: I had trouble with the installation. Was very time consuming. I was not able to copy over. I attribute that to using the built in raid rather than a raid card and my inexperience with using MB built in raid. Consider a raid 0 card if you too have trouble. They start at $40.00.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat for 5 months

Pros: fast

Cons: Failed *completely* after 5 months of use. Instantly BSOD's any machine it's connected to, even via USB/SATA adaptor, meaning data recovery is impossible. This is not uncommon for SSDs, but they usually last longer. Not what I expect when I pay a premium for a top-tier product.

5 out of 5 eggsFast

Pros: Windows7 gave this SSD a 7.9 rating, and when I boot up the PC the win7 loading animation doesn't even finish before it loads up.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I came from an older OCZ Vertex LE, and this thing is crazy fast!
