Manufacturer Warranty

Parts
5 years limited
All Intel SSD 320 products sold in the OEM boxes have a five-year limited warranty term; however, the warranty includes a "Media Wearout" limitation. The Media Wearout limitation provides that the warranty shall expire when the usage of the drive has reached a predetermined usage limit established by Intel, which could result in a warranty term much shorter than five years for drives used in heavy-use, enterprise applications. The Media Wearout is determined by Intel's implementation of the SMART attribute "E9" Media Wearout indicator (as measured by and shown in the Intel SSD Toolbox, www.intel.com/go/ssdtoolbox). At any point during the warranty term, if the Media Wearout Indicator reads "1", as measured by the Intel SSD Toolbox, then the drive has reached its wear limit and the Limited Warranty at that point expires, regardless of how much time may have been remaining on the five-year term. This Media Wearout limitation is imposed due to the greater workload demands of enterprise/data center deployment on SSDs.

3 out of 5 eggsFast, but bricked, RMA after 2 months

Pros: Fast, built-in encryption

Cons: This unit was not functional, all of a sudden, today, with no data recoverable. Drive appeared active, but would not boot, and showed up as 8K. I suggest that you make sure you have good up-to-date backups, if you go with this. Chance of failure is reportedly small, but if it does, your data is completely gone. RMA'd to Intel, will be more than 1 week before I get replacement.

Other Thoughts: The firmware problem that seems to be causing all of these failures ought to be fixed by now, Intel!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat, but minor issues...

Pros: Large, somewhat reliable, extra goodies in the box, 5 year warranty

Cons: -Drive had the infamous 8 MB bug in the 320 series.
-Intel Toolbox only runs on Windows.

Other Thoughts: After doing a firmware upgrade, I've had no problems thus far and I've had the drive for over 7 months now. Good support from Intel as well, but haven't had to RMA it so I don't know about that process.

1 out of 5 eggsDead after 6 months

Pros: I guess the only "pro" is that it's Intel, it will be more stable (supposedly).

Cons: Dead after 6 months, without any prior signs.

Other Thoughts: SSD is not ready for the market, these are too buggy and too unreliable.

5 out of 5 eggsWorld best drive anywhere

Pros: Perfect performance and ez step. Intel has the lowest failure rate of any drive out there. This is a whole new computer now

Cons: none other than price, but worth the safety and security of knowing i have a drive that never fails.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed after 42 days

Pros: None

Cons: Failed After 42 days. What else is there to say?

Other Thoughts: Don't believe the hype about Intel "durability" and "reliability" Their hard drives fail like all the others. Do your backups, or be a fool like me, trusting Intel with $$$ that you cannot refunded!
