5 out of 5 eggsStill going after 4.5 years

Pros: This drive replaced my SCSI 15k rpm 7x drive stripe raid (7x seagate cheetah 9gig drives) and was worth every penny. All SSD's are worth it vs spiny drives. Has lasted me 4.5 years so far with 172TB written. I have no idea how much more life is in it but I am very impressed.

Cons: Size but that was my choice.

Other Thoughts: Hope it keeps doing what its doing.

4 out of 5 eggs10/12 update

Pros: one of the few upgrades I have made that I noticed a big difference right out of the box. The things is still running great but I think its time to move this over to my laptop and get a new intel 520 SSD.

Cons: TV Rec video in media center plays back with unwatchable pauses. I made media center rec to a different drive and things are fine. Took a egg off for that.

5 out of 5 eggsA revolution

Pros: Extremely fast for this price range
Great value
Boots up macbook snow leopard in like 15 seconds.

Cons: 80GB is a little tight fit these days. If you like to collect tons of DVDs or MP3s it might not be the drive for you.

Other Thoughts: This really is a revolution in terms of speed and value. A lot of SSD aren't much faster than a normal hard disk. This one is way faster and doesn't cost a ton more than other SSDs.

Note that the Kingston SSDNow X-25 is the same drive just rebranded so if this one is out of stock you can always get that one.

5 out of 5 eggsFast

Pros: The effect on day to day performance is noticable. When I go to a non-SSD based system it feels like something is wrong when loading programs because they load so much slower. I keep thinking those systems have a problem because I'm used to this one. At least till I remember they don't have this SSD drive in them.

Cons: None. Performance to price ratio and considering the timing of this product in the market I think it is a great value for enthusiasts who want a performance boost.

Other Thoughts: I'm speaking from an enthusiast standpoint. But even if you're a business or home office user if you know how to use multiple drives set this up for your OS and use a large SATA drive to store your documents and for backups.

5 out of 5 eggsUnreal Performance Increase

Pros: This is the best performance boost I have ever gotten from a single upgrade. Very Fast!!!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I recommend the retail version for the extra money. It comes with the hardware you need to mount it in a standard 3.5 bay.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Amazing performance. I did not run benches and stuff because I don't give a hoot and others have done this before. I threw this in my brand new ASUS G51J laptop with a mobile Corei7 and it boots up exactly twice as fast as the other 7200RPM drive with Win7 on both.

Within 1 second of the desktop being visible I can right click or launch an application, which loads insanely quicker than hard drives.

Cons: It is not bigger and cheaper =)

5 out of 5 eggsfast

Pros: Works great, very fast. Easy to install.

Cons: The price. ouch

Other Thoughts: Works well with everything. Surprisingly small in size, thought they shipped wrong one at first. If I were building a small fast system, this drive would be perfect.

1 out of 5 eggsFeeling Lied To

Pros: SSD MLC for a good price, write speed 250MB. Great addition to my i7 rig until i starting using it.

Cons: Read Speed is only 70mb ***When you first use it***, after installing the os and using it for over a month the write speed and read speed dropped significantly.

Other Thoughts: I feel that I was taken advantage of. I purchased this drive specifically because I read that intel was working on firmware that would improve the write performance and would implement TRIM....and as far as we know INTEL has no plans of releasing a firmware update to remedy this known issue. They have however decided to release firmware for their generation 2 drives....Thanks INTEL for rewarding your loyal customers.

5 out of 5 eggsstill like mine

Pros: was using 2 raptors in a raid0 but switched to this foe lower noise level. overall performance is on par with my old raptor raid but when it comes to quick seeks, (like DB or loading up photoshop etc) this thing flies. they say you're not supposed to defrag these drives but i have just to see how it would perform. wow. i recommend everyone try it at least once just to see how insane it is. yeah, i know: "BwOBtMQfG! you defragged an SSD and now you're going to burn in eternal BSOD." and if you think that's crazy, i run my OS in ext3!

Cons: supposedly, running ext3 and defragging will make the harddrives die. but so far mine still seem to function.

Other Thoughts: they've come down a bit in price since i bought mine a year ago. but that's a good thing!

2 out of 5 eggsGood while it worked.

Pros: Super fast, quick Windows 7 install.

Cons: Arrived with Windows Vista already installed on it, with Internet Explorer bookmarks and all, I never though I'd receive a used hard drive. My computer stopped recognizing the SSD after 3 weeks. Took it out of my tower, put it in a external enclosure, still not recognized. Past the 30 day mark.

Other Thoughts: Oh well, waste of time and money. Wait for SSDs to be the norm before investing again.
