4 out of 5 eggsAdendum on my last review

Pros: I contacted Crucial about this problem, and they were really helpfull. They provided me with a reviving procedure (turn on the PC for 20 minutes, then turn it off and turn it back on) and it worked. The drive is back, as nothing happened.
I'm must say i'm surprised, and i wasn't prepared for such a good service.
Thanks Crucial!

Cons: can cause sweating for thinking the computer is dead.

2 out of 5 eggsGood for a short time

Pros: I have been really satisfied with this product for the time it worked: lightning fast boot with windows 8 (on a gp35gp intel with core2 duo 2.6, 8gb ram). Boot in 10 sec or less, silent. App startup really fast without any hard drive noise.
But yesterday, i was on google map, and suddently the system is not responding anymore. Reboot: no hard drive.. unplug, plug, wait for 2-3 minutes, boot: no hard drive.. Unit is dead... after 7 months. Didn't stored anything important since this technology is still new, so didn't thrust this... good thing... 7 months for a hard drive, no RMA available after a month.. this sucks.. over a hundred bucks in the garbages. I shouldn't have been impulsive and just sticked with baracuda.
I'll contact Crucial about the warranty, i want my toy back!

Cons: unreliable

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic drive!!!

Pros: I've owned this drive for well over a year. Was my first SSD purchase, what a difference over a standard hdd. No issues at all the entire time, installed Windows 7 from a usb drive in about 10 mins, boots in under 30 seconds, and I'm still on sata 2!! Drive has been in use pretty much 24/7 since installed. still as fast as the day I got it.

Cons: I didn't buy 2 and put 'em in raid 0

2 out of 5 eggsWhen the die, they die hard

Pros: Gave me a solid 14months of great performance. Opened huge zip files in a flash, allowed the computer to start within seconds. Quiet, fast, reliable. Up to any task I could throw at it. It was great.

Cons: It WAS great. Today it simply ceased operation. At least with a HDD you can see a decline in operating quality, hear the sounds changing over time, maybe notice tranfer rates declining. This one, I noticed some programs oddly locking up earlier today (only slightly alarming, I thought it was time to re-start) and then -Poof!- got a blue screen and then nothing. Never had a drive seize-up with so little warning. It's a paperweight now.

Other Thoughts: I would love to return it for a warranty replacement but I have too many personal documents on it -two years of tax returns!- and I can't even access it using an external hook-up. It simply died.
I would purchase another (I already have a Crucial 256gb running in my HTPC) but this experience has left me extremely sensitive to its reliability. What can I leave on a new one? Also, I'm basically out the purchase price because, due to how hard it crashed, I will be unable to clean it up before sending it back. A bit annoying.

5 out of 5 eggsVery fast

Pros: I got this SSD for all the obvious reasons, and I've had it for a little over a year. It definitely delivers if you want crazy fast load times for programs and games, as well as a super fast boot up.

It's been very reliable with the exception of one problem, which you'll probably see as a running theme in the review section here for the M4, but it is very easily fixed. -see cons

Cons: Because of a problem with chronic bsod's after about a year of use, make sure you get the latest firmware update from the Crucial website. It will resolve that problem.

Other Thoughts: I suddenly started getting bsod's. I had no idea what was going on at first. I looked up the bsod code, couldn't find anything useful. It started happening as soon as I started playing a new game, so I thought the game was the problem. But then it would do it while just sitting at the desktop as well. I reset my overclock back to default. Nothing. Stress tested my cpu/memory. Nothing. My computer would stay stable maybe an hour or so and then bsod. It was sheer, "let's just see if this is known problem with my ssd." Sure enough, the reviews here were repeating everything that I was experiencing. As per many of the reviews here, I updated my firmware. Problem is now long gone.

Thank you Crucial for providing a fix. You lost points with me and then immediately regained them.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Have had this SSD for over a year now. It is not the fastest drive, but speeds are still very good(espically if coming from a mechanical hard drive). It is still as fast as the day I received it.

Cons: If your computer loses power suddenly the drive will not show up. I have updated to the latest firmware and the problem persists. Just do a power cycle and it will show up again.

Other Thoughts: If you are having any problems try updating the firmware.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: After the Bios screen, Windows 7 Pro X64 is finished loading in under 10 Seconds with either an I7 or A10-5800k APU. Drive is blazing fast and have had no issues. I own 2 of them
