The Crucial m4 SSD reaches read speeds of up to 415 MB/s, a 17% increase over its predecessor. Ideal for client computing, Crucial m4 SSD provides benefits for notebooks, desktops, workstations, and industrial applications, including low power consumption, lightweight construction, and resistance to shock and vibration.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat SSD - no problems in over 3 years of onwership

Pros: Fast and reliable - what else could one ask for in SSD?

Cons: smallish size now

Other Thoughts: Been using this SSD for over 3 years now of daily use and as a main OS drive. Have upgraded firmware couple of times(painless process and didnt even have to reinstall OS ) and it never gave me any problems while always being as fast as they get pretty much. It was my first SSD and since then i have purchased over 10 different SSD(once you go SSD its very hard to go back to HDD of even hybrids for anything but pure storage needs) and while some were faster i still use this one as my OS drive in my main desktop. Will be buying larger size(since 128Gb is kind of limiting nowdays) M4 when prices drop a bit lower.
Nothing but good for this little speedracer!

1 out of 5 eggsSSD Fail!

Pros: It's an SSD.

Cons: This drive worked for while before giving me issues. I read that my mobo might not support SSD as it was an older system. Went back to my RAID0 x 3 and put the M4 off to the side and forgot about it as I could live without it.

It's been a year and I have a new system as a home server. I can now verify it's a bad drive. It has the latest firmware and has this disconnect issue. Programs stop responding before Windows itself crashes. After the reboot the M4 isn't even listed in the bios. I have to cycle power, set it as a boot device again, and I'm up until it happens again. All drivers, bios, and SSD firmware up to date.

I wish I RMA'd or got a refund. It was expensive then. An unreliable drive is as useful as War.
singing - What is it good for? Absolutely nothing, oh hoh, oh!

Other Thoughts: Don't take my word for it. A little searching and you'll see this is quite common with this drive.

5 out of 5 eggsI take back my other review

Pros: So my previous review from two days ago can be taken down (I don't know how to edit reviews, if that's even possible) - I should have done some homework on this drive to realize that I had the very first firmware version on this hard drive. After being on the phone with tech support, who are awesome at Crucial by the way, I was able to update my SSD to the latest firmware and get everything running again. This drive is so much faster than the platter drive I was using in the mean-time.

Cons: Updating the firmware was a bit time consuming with the BIOS resets and all, but not really a 'con,' just something you have to do to ensure proper functionality.

Other Thoughts: Make sure to update the firmware when you get this if it's not at the latest firmware already, you should have no problems. I've had this drive for over two years now, if I get two more problem free years I'll be happy.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive

Pros: Fast and cheap! Before this drive I went through 4 OCZ drives, it's pretty bad when the replacements for the original products die too!

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: I got one for my dad since I liked mine so much.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks great, for a while

Pros: When this drive was brand new and it was my first SSD, I couldn't believe how fast my computer would run. This this is an amazing drive for keeping your OS and main programs on.

Cons: I have had this drive for two years and two months, and just like Robert S. I was having BSOD's and a bunch of odd windows problems and resets. I had a spare hard drive lying around which I installed Windows on again, and now my computer has no problems at all.

Other Thoughts: The warranty period for this drive is three years, I am going to try and contact Crucial when I get home and get this warranty process started. I will update this review when I find out how difficult or easy it is to get a replacement drive.

1 out of 5 eggsDead.

Pros: Worked great!

Cons: Just like so many others are experiencing, this drive started to fail out me. Computer freezing, hard resets, blue screens of death. What a pain.

Other Thoughts: Installed Windows on spare SSD and computer is back to working like a champ.
