5 out of 5 eggsGets the Job Done

Pros: This cpu hands all the basic needs very well. If you're doing mostly browsing and basic apps this is a fast cpu. I was happy with it running Win 7 paired with 8gb of ram.

Cons: I don't do the gaming or graphic intense apps that others do so I can't really compare it to other cpus.

Other Thoughts: I researched this before purchasing so I was well aware of its capabilities beforehand. Other processors are more popular and have higher specs but I didn't feel the need to spend the extra $ and I'm glad I didn't.

Cpus are one of the few products on a pc that actually don't come defective :)

5 out of 5 eggsCPUs these days

Pros: I'm personally of the opinion that the i3 has been the best price-point in processors for the last few years. The i3 is so much better than my last high-end Core 2 Duo (E8200), that the choice is very simple; particularly in the Haswell generation.

I have this paired with a GeForce 650 Ti. I think they are about evenly matched for gaming (right below the power of the One and PS4).

Cons: The stock heatsink is a stock Intel heatsink, but it stays plenty cool in my (admittedly large) case. If you need better cooling, you will want to throw away the stock heatsink and buy something after-market.

Other Thoughts: Has the low-end i3 ever been priced something other than a little more than a hundred bucks? I'm glad to see Haswell continues the tradition. If you're also thinking about a more expensive processor from an earlier generation (Ivy Bridge), I highly recommend you get this one.

5 out of 5 eggsFast for a budget CPU

Pros: I picked this up for a budget desktop and I was seriously impressed with the performance for the price. This tests very close to an i7 920 @ 4ghz in superpi. Can't complain.

Cons: Nope.

2 out of 5 eggsGodd CPU, bad price

Pros: Dual core, intel

Cons: Dual core, not 8 core. spend a little more money and buy an amd fx8000 series CPU. i3 is way over priced. for the same price, you can get the fx6300, which is way better

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: Still running great!

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This is an update to my previous in which I have added a MSI Geforce 1GD5/OC GTX 750 GPU and let me say that it makes for an awesome budget gaming rig. I can play all my games at high settings with great fps. Still runs cool with stock cooler ( still haven't seen over 60C under full load). Don't let the fact thats its "only a dual core" stop you from buying it because this dual core is a beast.

My system

ECS H87H3-M Mother Board
Intel Core i3-4130 Haswell CPU
8 gigs G.SKILL Ares Series DDR3 1600 RAM
MSI 1GD5/OC GTX 750 GPU
WD 1TB 7200 RPM Hard Drive

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I didn't know until after buying that it Tom's Hardware recommends this as a budget gaming C.P.U. Even though I bought it for a home server (running Gentoo Linux), I kept thinking that I would be happy to build the exact same computer, only with a video card this time, as a gaming computer. Since I ran 'emerge -eq system world' and rebooted, it's been running Folding at Home while hosting a couple home servers and doing some other tasks for a two days straight, and it's a reasonable ~53 degrees Celcius. I haven't noticed any performance or stability problems.

The installation was easy. After some complex aftermarket heatsink fan installations for previous computers, I was almost confused by how easy the stock heatsink installation was.

Cons: I can't really think of anything reasonable to say against this C.P.U. It's not an i7? It costs more than $100?

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome cpu

Pros: This is an awesome little dual core CPU. It runs everything I throw at it with no problems at all and with the stock cooler I haven't seen over 60C. The hyper threading works like its supposed to and this thing just flies. If your looking for a great CPU that you can game with ( paired with a decent GPU of course) this this will not let you down.

Cons: None, this thing is awesome for the price.

Other Thoughts: My system

ECS H87H3-M Mother Board
Intel Core i3-4130 Haswell CPU
8 gigs G.SKILL Ares Series DDR3 1600 RAM
WD 1TB 7200 RPM Hard Drive
