Once again Intel sets the pace in competition for performance and power efficiency with the 3rd Generation Intel Core processors, codenamed Ivy Bridge. Built on the market-leading previous generation Sandy Bridge architecture, the state-of-the-art Ivy Bridge not only continues the excellence in all aspects with Intel Hyper-Threading technology, Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 and Smart Cache, but pushes the pace a step farther with groundbreaking 22nm 3D transistor technology, which delivers an unprecedented combination of performance and power efficiency, and a couple of key refinement. The built-in visual is another leap offering you enhanced media and graphics. The Ivy Bridge IGP also supports DirectX 11 and OpenCL 1.1 to deliver incredibly detailed gaming and better heterogeneous computing performance.

The Intel Core i5-3570K packs four cores with Turbo Boost 2.0 technology to deliver incredible PC and visual experiences for all of your favorite activities—whether you’re creating, sharing, exploring, or gaming. Its unlocked multiplier allows you to freely adjust the frequency when used with compatible motherboard, pushing the performance to a new level and pumping the max out of your investment.

  • newegg Intel 22nm 3-D Transistor The 3rd Generation Intel Core processors employ the world's first 3-D transistor manufactured at 22nm. Intel's 3-D Tri-Gate transistor uses three gates wrapped around the silicon channel in a 3-D structure, enabling an unprecedented combination of performance and energy efficiency, and ensuring that the pace of technology advancement consumers expect can continue for years to come.
  • newegg Evolved Graphics Built-in visual features such as the Intel Quick Sync Video 2.0 and Intel Clear Video HD Technology enable compelling user experiences across a wide range of intelligent systems. Whether your application involves medical imaging, video surveillance, or HD media playback, the 3rd generation Intel Core processors support smooth visuals, quick digital image downloads, high-density media processing, and synchronous video streams. The support for DirectX 11, OpenCL 1.1 and OpenGL 3.1 takes your gaming and computing experience to a brand new level.
  • newegg Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 Designed to increase performance of both multi-threaded and single-threaded workloads, Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 allows the processor core to opportunistically and automatically run faster than its rated operating frequency/render clock if it is operating below power, temperature, and current limits. Furthermore, the processor can optimize both processor and Processor Graphics performance by managing power for the overall package, allowing an increase in the render core frequency and increased graphics performance for graphics intensive workloads.
  • newegg INTEL SMART CACHE This large last-level cache enables dynamic and efficient allocation of shared cache to all cores to match the needs of various applications for ultra-efficient data storage and manipulation.
  • newegg Intel Advanced Vector Extensions (Intel AVX) Intel AVX is a new 256 bit instruction set extension to SSE and is designed for applications that are Floating Point (FP) intensive. Intel AVX improves performance due to wider vectors, new extensible syntax, and rich functionality. This results in better management of data and general purpose applications like image, audio/video processing, scientific simulations, financial analytics and 3D modeling and analysis.
  • newegg Intel Virtualization Technology (VT-x) Increasing manageability, security, and flexibility in IT environments, virtualization technologies like hardware-assisted Intel Virtualization Technology (Intel VT) combined with software-based virtualization solutions provide maximum system utilization by consolidating multiple environments into a single server or PC. By abstracting the software away from the underlying hardware, a world of new usage models opens up that reduce costs, increase management efficiency, strengthen security, while making your computing infrastructure more resilient in the event of a disaster.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU!

Pros: Great CPU, does everything and more that I ask of it. Gaming video editing, photo shop, streaming, its all good. Has headroom to O.C. if you need more power!

Cons: Stock fan sucks, used it for 2 days. Sounded like a jet engine, and temps where really high. Went for a all in one WC. Soo boss now!

Other Thoughts: The chip can run at a high temperature and still be in the safe zone, but wouldn't recommend using the stock fan. I would spend a little extra to keep your CPU cooler, on a aftermarket cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsAfter the first few hours

Pros: Is this even my computer still???... It's very FAST. Improved my gaming and application use TENFOLD

Cons: This post is only after a few hours use so does not have issues right now.

Other Thoughts: I'm very happy with this CPU, already I have played games on maxed out settings (GTX760 GFX CARD) along with this CPU. I also noticed a considerable amount of speed during boot up and use of applications such as Photoshop, Steam etc.

5 out of 5 eggsFavorite processor I've ever owned

Pros: Great, powerful processor with lots of overclocking headroom to extend useable life
I feel it's a great cost/performance ratio(although probably not the best)

Cons: no hyperthreading(not that 90% of users will notice/need hyperthreading)
poor thermal conductivity requires some risky surgery to replace the TIM compound underneath the heat spreader to achieve maximum temperature performance
Onboard graphics-see below

Other Thoughts: This processor is a great processor for 90 percent of users. I bought a K model to overclock it when it gets a bit older to extend the usable life of the chip. Have ran some light 4.0ghz OC's on it but didnt notice enough of a differance(my system is currently GPU bound) so went back to factory settings, minus some of the intel powersaving stuff.

If you want top tier performance for gaming, web surfing, videos, etc...this is the chip for you. It's not the fastest or the greatest, but it will do everything you need it to and still have plenty of headroom for more. Imagine running a virus scan, malware scan, web surfing with 10 or 15 tabs open, and playing a game(two monitors) all at once. No problem.

I've used the onboard graphics for my non-gaming monitor with zero problems. Video playback isnt as good, but for everything else it runs a 1080 display just fine. Completely satisfied with it, as long as you don't ask it to do too much(it's not a dedicated graphics card, don't treat it like one)

Although obsolete now for most of us, I've always bought intel chips and will continue to do so. I've had experience with AMD chips and the performance is night and day. Intel just makes a better product(and you get what you pay for, thats why they cost a bit more too).

Pay the extra money, and buy an intel chip. Its worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good CPU

Pros: Very fast and overclocks well

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This replaced an AMD FX-4100 processor and completely blows it away in gaming performance.

5 out of 5 eggsFast

Pros: Very fast and handles all the games I play without any trouble at all. Highly recommended for people who do not need hyper threading. Runs cool. No need to overclock because it's already fast enough for what I do.

Cons: None.

Pros: -Handles overclocks very well
-Isn't a power hog
-Pairs great with my gtx 760
