5 out of 5 eggsPrices keep dropping!

Pros: Such a world of difference moving my Mother's PIII processor out and moving this one in! I love how cheap they have become for the dual core, makes it hard not to upgrade.

Cons: Not a 3.0 GHz... None other than that.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty fast processor.

Pros: I bought this processor many months ago to build a brand new computer, and upgrade from my old Intel Pentium 4, 3.0GHz desktop computer. It much faster than a 3.0Ghz processor, and it supports 64 bit operating systems, including Windows Vista Ultimate & Windows 7 64-bit editions.

It is of course a little outdated, and is not as fast as the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processors; therefore, it is well worth the price. I bought this processor in the December of 2008, for about $95 (with shipping and tax), and for the current price, it is well worth it for the first computer builder.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Works very well with games. I ran many simultaneous applications at the same time, and the computer did not slow down at all. Including anti-virus, internet browser, defrag, website editing, and other image editing software.

Runs pretty fast.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat budget CPU

Pros: I've used these all the time for budget builds and they overclock with little effort to 3.2 - 3.33 ghz on budget motherboards with only the basic O/C options.

Fast speed for a decent price, more than the average internet surfer would ever need.

Cons: It is a socket 775 chip-- That platform is dying, so there is little upgrade potential (other than used parts) with this type of system.

Other Thoughts: Can't go wrong with this CPU... When overclocked, it compares to most major OEM computers with "faster" processors.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent CPU

Pros: Ive been using this CPU for about 5 months now. The first day I got it I overclocked it to 3.5ghz. This CPU has been rock solid from day one.
Voltage is at 1.3125
I am using an artic freezer 7 pro. Idle temps are mid 20's, full load mid 40's

Cons: Doesnt get hot enough to function as a heater during the winter months

5 out of 5 eggsExceptional Value

Pros: Bought this to put into my new HTPC. Wanted something fast and very cheap that I could OC to solid performance without raising the voltage. Runs fairly cool, no voltage increase, 3.4ghz. No crashes. Excellent processor here that's well designed and performs beautifully.

Cons: Nothing reasonable to complain about. If you want me to really dig -- It's not unlocked? Small cache. Stock HSF could be better and quieter.

Other Thoughts: Amazing price to performance ratio processor if you overclock it a bit.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic CPU

Pros: Inexpensive, fast, stable, cool. What more can you ask for? If your looking to get a great CPU at a bargain price this is the one to get.

Cons: Not as fast as some of it's siblings.
-----
Reviewers who get a doa, and then state in no uncertain terms that they will "never buy an Intel CPU again!"
----
Mounting of the heat sink is terrible. The motherboard almost always flexes heavily (see other thoughts to lessen the flex)

Other Thoughts: I have installed more than 10 of these, not one dead one.
----
This thing idles about 23-26c on stock cooling/thermal greese, I have not monitored one under intense load since the things I have used them for have not been very intensive. They stay cool though, and most of the ones that I have installed are on 24/7.
----
Before mounting the HSF, push the little 'clips' down as if you were pushing them into the MB, then twist it to release and pull back up, don't forget to twist them back to the original position. This makes them a little easier to push into the mother board. Also if you install the CPU/heat sink before installing the motherboard into the case, you can help relieve some of the pressure the HSF causes on the MB.

5 out of 5 eggsSuch A Deal You WOuldn't Believe

Pros: Massively overclockable. Totally reliable. Runs cool. Does a tremendous job of being what it is.

Cons: OK, so the cache is low...BIG DEAL...who really cares?

Other Thoughts: OK, I bought this little CPU with the intention of seeing just how far I could push it...and I have run it at over 4.2GHz...and tortured it...and it still runs perfectly. I finally put it in a Shuttle for a friend to use as a budget HTPC. HE has it running just fine...for over 4 months now, with HEAVY use. I don't know what kind of a fool you would need to be to blow this thing up, but I gave it my best shot. Tremendous value for dollar. The only reason to buy "more" of a CPU than this is assuaging your ego As for me, I don't pay for things that I can't see, feel, touch, hear, or smell. I see a great CPU. I feel no heat coming off of it. I can't touch its limits, I don't hear any nasty sizzling noises...and, most important, I don't smell the odor of burned up CPU. I am amazed that this CPU still hasn't been honored with best of the month honors.
