5 out of 5 eggsnot so horrible

Pros: If your apps look fuzzy using this P-4 then you need to adjust your video card or your onboard video driver....IT'S NOT THE CPU!!! I have built 6 P-4 builds so far and none had fuzzy apps!!! I have used the following manufactures of boards, soyo, intel, and MSI. Mostly Intel chips but I think I did a via chip set as well with a northwood core, and the rest were prescotts with 865s. I used the following video cards, geforce 4 mx 440, nvidia 5700LE, nvidia 6800 extreme, and an ati radeon 3850, all agp.

Cons: This CPU with a good video card and xp 32 bit can play World of Warcraft as long as you stay out of the big cities but its gamer days are really over, I keep my old rig near the den door for those quicky internet jumps for info. look for it to do a good job of home server, I use vista 32 bit on my old rig and let the grand kids play my old Wing Commander and Freelancer games on it.

Other Thoughts: Still a good cpu for the casual user and casual server.
My rig.
P-4 prescott, intel 865 perl MB, 3 gig ddr 400 dual channel cas lat of 3. Powercolor ati radeon 3850 agp, raidmax smilidon extreme black case, Zalman 92mm cpu cooler, zerotherm gpu cooler, corsair PSU. Dont even ask how I got the Zalman into that case!

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible CPU

Pros: Well, the onlything it's good for is well, maybe surfing the web.

Cons: Everything About Pentium 4's are horrible. What it means by "No Virtualization Technology Support" means that if you own one, all of your 3D Apps little fuzzy!!!! as an example, i'm running this CPU (not from newegg) at 3.33GHz and my games, Windows, EVEN NOTEPAD AND PAINT look fuzzy. Also, if you want a good CPU for 50$, get neweggs AMD Athlon II x2 or even a Core 2 Duo. Not This!!!!! Another example, i am a gamer from what i'm saying, ordered an AMD Athlon II X4 940 to replace this horrible Pentium 4!!! even games like Need For Speed Carbon Runs slow on this CPU!!!!!! So, if you really want to pay 25$ more than an AMD Athlon II x2 for 10x less performance, YOU ARE CRAZY!!!!!

Other Thoughts: My Specs Are:

Intel Pentium 4 3.00GHz OCED to 3.33GHz

Antec 300

Biostar Motherboard (not sure what kind, not that into biostar) and gonna upgrade to an MSI board socket AM3 (99$ for the MSI board and Athlon II x2 940)

80GB 7200RPM hitachi HDD sata (Ran Windows XP, now running 7 home premium_

so really, this CPU is overpriced, and MAKES EVERY 3D APP FUZZY!!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsBETTER THAN not bad

Pros: I bout this cpu about 3 years ago with a biostar board (via p4m chipset) when the prescot was first releast. still competes great against a my new build (am3 athlon 2 x2 on a gigabyte GA-MA78LM-S2 board)..

Cons: the over clocking potential sucks... That being said, iv had it at least 5-10% overclocked many times, for long periods of time, on an always on system.. still VERY reliable, in fact, im using it to write this reveiw.

Other Thoughts: worth the money but, should be cheaper

3 out of 5 eggshot chip

Pros: its about the best upgrade you can find for a slot 478, with a 800fsb 1mb l2 cache, it runs pretty good, not bad for gaming either, however not the best.

Cons: this processor does run hot, at idle mine runs at 40ish, its also a single core, and i dont know if anyone else has had this problem but when i upgraded the chip from my 2.5ghz it delayed the computer boot time about 5 seconds, as in it takes 5 seconds from pressing power to get to the boot up screen, where as my 2.5 was instant. also, whats up with the packaging? it shows a pretty blue box on newegg but arrived in a tiny plastic container.

Other Thoughts: after having this for about 6 months ive come to a conclusion, i'm sick of single core processors, as of next month i will be upgrading my system to a dual or even quad core. slot 478 is outdated, rest in peace, you were good in your prime.

4 out of 5 eggsprice still high after 3 year

Pros: it work

Cons: l2 cache should have been 2mb and hyperthreading should have been a dual core but keep dreaming

Other Thoughts: 478 mobo user, update to 775 & or am2+ mobo for faster & more efficiency energy result

1 out of 5 eggsused to have one (but retail) from newegg

Pros: It was a good CPU, but ofcorse I didn't get a DOA OEM version! lol But that was years ago, my have the cpus gotten better!

Cons: This is funny, I can't believe that they are still charging 80$ for one of these, take a look at the cpus now, AMD 2.6ghz quad core for 100$! Intel just has more of them and wants to get rid of them and ripp people off like mad. Also the fact that it is an oem is sh() b/c if it is a DOA (most will be because they don't care if it works anyway) (not newegg intel) Then you they wont give you another one b/c it is OEM. Buy a retail so they will honor the replacment/refund.

Other Thoughts: I started out building a system with a P4 3 ghz and sold the system on craigslist for 350$ and built an amd 3.1ghz dual core system with 4gigs ddr2 (800) and 500gig sata 2, 24x dvd burner for 400$
Now I have sold that system and built the Phenom 2 940 quad core (3ghz) 4gigs ddr2 1066, 500gig sata 2, 20x dvd rw, radeon 4670 1gb all for under 650!

4 out of 5 eggsNice, not for gaming.

Pros: This is a great Processor, can do any simple task i ask it to do and is really fast for a P4.

Cons: This thing is......horrible for gaming. It can't multitask either. However it's not meant for either.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this right now. You can get a duo core for 10 bucks more and it will come with a CPU cooler.

3 out of 5 eggsDoes properly its job - good price quality ratio

Pros: Do not thing that CPU heat sink is the most silent on the market.
Comparable to Manufacturer (fan received in CPU Retail box)

Cons: Noisy

Other Thoughts: Better than spending 60-80 $ for 1-2 year life (expected).
