2 out of 5 eggsPoor heatsink great processor

Pros: The processor itself has ran great

Cons: 3 stars off due to the poor heat sinks intel ships. After needing to reapply thermal paste for the first time the plastic pushpins was a 4 hour nightmare before they eventually just fell off the heat sink. Obviously without the heat sink the processor isn't useful. For the price there's no reason the heatsink should break upon it's first re-installation.

5 out of 5 eggs5yrs Later Still Strong

Pros: This CPU was built to last let me tell you. I bought it five years ago and no matter what i throw at it, it still runs like a beast. I do a lot of 4k video editing and heavy gaming on some of the latest intense graphic games out there, and this CPU welcomes everything.

Major kudos to Intel for building such quality product and newegg for selling such jewel.

I would certainly by this CPU again even six years later.

Cons: Not one!

Other Thoughts: Well worth the price.

5 out of 5 eggsStill Relevant Over 4 Years Later

Pros: - Running 4.6 GHz daily for its whole life with just a hair of extra voltage.
- Pretty cool. With an aftermarket air cooler it stays around 70 C max.
- It still holds up well today. I don't notice any slowdowns in modern games.

Cons: - It's keeping me from upgrading! It still holds up too well to justify a new CPU.
- Even after all these years it still seems like games barely utilize the extra threads and top out at 4 threads.
- My 2600k seems to get very hungry after 4.6 GHz. I ran it at 4.8 GHz for a while but backed off after a few weeks because of the massive jumps in voltages needed for every 100 MHz after 4600. It runs 4.6 GHz at barely above stock voltage but moving any higher needs a pretty big jump in voltage.

Other Thoughts: - Despite the low utilization of the HT, it's still nice to have and I'm sure it has contributed to how long this processor has remained relevant.
- This processor at 4.6 GHz is holding its own against any modern CPU. Seriously, this has to be the first time a processor has been able to live so long after its been retired. With Intel slowing down development and not making huge generational leaps, the 2600k will probably still be good for another year or two at least. If I ever replace it it won't be because it can't perform.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic CPU!!

Pros: I have owned this processor for almost 3 years now and have been completely blown away by its performance. I have it OC to 4.5Ghz right now on air and it has never let me down. I just have to say that this processor is never the bottleneck in my PC and can handle anything that is thrown at it despite its age. Highly recommend and will probably keep this chip for years to come.

Cons: The only Con I can think of is that I don't have an excuse to build a new rig... I doubt I'd see any improvement if I upgraded to the latest intel CPU (besides benchmarks).

Other Thoughts: I would say that 90% of the people out there would be hard pressed at bringing this CPU to its knees. It is a workhorse CPU and there really isn't a need to upgrade at this time.

5 out of 5 eggsIntel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge

Pros: I have owned this chip now for more then 2 years. It is currently OC @ 4.3 Ghz. I have it water cooled with XSPC Raystorm 750 EX240 Liquid Cooling Kit. It is currently running at 31C idle and max load at 48C while gaming/streaming/photo editing etc. I would recommend this product to anyone. It is an absolute beast. I runs everything you throw at it.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor

Pros: Great processor for the price range. I've had it since 2012 and it's still going strong. No issues. Running on an ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 mobo with a EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB GPU.

Cons: None come to mind off hand.

5 out of 5 eggsHi mom

Pros: Man, what a chip. I have had this chip running 24x7 @ 4.5ghz since 2011.. And it never hiccups. Even now, 4 years later, i still have no need or desire to "upgrade".

Cons: It's no longer for sale..

Other Thoughts: I paid a little over $300 bucks for this chip. It was worth every penny. Thank you Intel, great work on this chip.
