1 out of 5 eggsWas great while it lasted

Pros: Extremely Fast and a good value of speed vs price.

Cons: Runs hot, but that is to be expected.
Power hungry little monster. Limited to only a select couple of motherboards that can supports its power needs.
Only lasted about 4-5 months before it started to have issues.

Other Thoughts: If you need the fastest that AMD has to offer and can afford to build a good, solid water cooling system for it and aren't afraid of needing to replace it in under 6 months, then this chip is what you are looking for.

If you are looking for something stable that is going to last you a while, you will want to look elsewhere. As others have said, after 4-5 months it started to have issues, locking up the entire system at times. It was never overclocked or pushed hard and had adequate water cooling since day 1, but still failed. I replaced it with a FX-8350 Black Edition and the system has run great ever since. It is a bit slower, but honestly not noticeably under normal circumstances. It runs a hell of a lot cooler and at much less power consumption as well.

1 out of 5 eggsDied after 4 months

Pros: while it worked, it worked great, with the liquid cooling i had on it, temps would reach a max of 40 degrees c

Cons: died after 4 months, never overclocked it or put too much strain on it that would cause it to die

Other Thoughts: bought this as a big upgrade to my fx 6100 cpu, worked great for a few months, one day in early may i was gaming on the pc and suddenly the whole thing shut off mid game, mobo was old so i assumed this was the problem, i ordered a new mobo and still couldn't get it to boot. so i returned that mobo thinking i received a doa, bought a new asus m5A99fx pro r2.0 which had indicator lights on the mobo, the one for the cpu was staying lit. switched out the cpu and got the pc to post bios, double checked to make sure no pins were bent, there werent any. tried to reset bios then put newer cpu back in, but it failed to boot again. currently stuck with the 6 core and pretty p/o'd that i spend 240.00 on a processor that doesnt work after only 4 months.

1 out of 5 eggsSounds great - Not stable at stock values

Pros: 8 cores, overclockable. Sounds great!

Cons: Random freezes, even on a supported board and overly powerful 1300 watt power supply. I had this on a Crosshair V Formula Z, which was rated as the best match for this processor. It runs hot, even with liquid cooling. The Windows 7 system would freeze randomly, and the cores were throwing error codes in the system logs. I downgraded to the AMD FX 8350 and haven't had a single freeze up since.

Other Thoughts: I waited too long to build the system, which means that it was out of it's return period before it was even installed. Wish there was a way to return this thing. Never even overclocked it because it couldn't even run error-free at default levels.

2 out of 5 eggsgreat for it's time

Pros: great clocking for it's age

Cons: too old for new hardware

Other Thoughts: This processor was great for it's time (2013) Now it being 2016, intel has came out with newer and better clockable cpus and better (ex. 5th gen 5960x) 6th gen 6700k)
AMD also has not came out with new motherboards nor new cpus since this date, if AMD were to employ new PCIE 3.0 boards and new generation CPUS that can actually run DDR4 ram and the new GPUS they come out with (new 300 series) they would have a great line of products again instead of nearly 4 year old stuff

2 out of 5 eggsRan at stock speeds with ddr3 2400 for a while.

Pros: FAST!

Cons: Doesn't last long---even with liquid cooling.
Started BSOD's until I backed the RAM down a notch, then another a bit later, and another, till it would only run 1600. (And yes, I changed RAM to see if it was the memory, and then board)
Ran overclocked to 5ghz once, for a bit till I stressed it.

Other Thoughts: I put an old 6 core (6 actual cores) in it's place that had been sitting spare, works like a charm.

2 out of 5 eggsToo unstable

Pros: It's quick, not as fast as the i7s, but quick.

Cons: Runs super hot, even with a Corsair H100i GTX Extreme under load

Very unstable. It's been like 5 months now and running Prime95 results it in crashing after 2 tests. Been subject to many BSODs and freezes. Had to result to a different processor as no matter what I did with the BIOS, I couldn't get it to run stable. It wasn't a temperature issue as though it may be warm, it didn't go toooo hot.

I've given up and the processor has become a paper weight pretty much as it's past the return period.

Don't buy this processor if you're even considering it!!!!!

1 out of 5 eggsHistory of Unreliability - Buyer Beware!

Pros: Very fast when it's not hard locked

Cons: Freezes randomly regardless of operating temperature. I've been able to increase the reliability by disabling half of the cores but then what's the point? It still does freeze and doesn't appear to be tied to power or temperature.

Other Thoughts: AMD should quit the high-end CPU market, I'm not even sure what their purpose is when compared to Intel
Search around the internet on this processor for other feedback before buying! Newegg ratings are misleading

5 out of 5 eggsWin!

Pros: Extremely powerful. It's AMD. Excellent OC and multi-tasking potential. Everything?

Cons: Difficult to air-cool. Impossible to air-cool stable completely enclosed in a full ATX tower without having your PC sound like a 1U server/jet engine (mine does). Very high power requirements. A good rule of thumb to determine if you need a new MoBo for this CPU is if the heatsinks over the VRs (Voltage Regulators) are not of significant size or bare, and if the MoBo does not have the word "gaming" anywhere in it's documentation/features list. I'm currently running this CPU at 1.525v, and my NB at 1.40v. When in doubt, cross-reference your MoBo documentation. It is your friend ;) I would recommend a 1000w+ PSU for this puppy, and that's with 1 HDD. Mine is 1100w, and with my dual fans (1ST PC CORP. PFB1212UHE-F00 120mm) at full speed, my video card has rendering issues. I only run them at half speed anyway :D

Other Thoughts: I paired this with the ASRock Fatal1ty 990FX Killer, but ended up replacing the NB heatsink. I bought this to boost the FPS on ARMA 3 in multiplayer. Those of you who play know what I'm talking about. Before my fan upgrade, it ran at 45fps high, 20fps low, and 32fps average in multiplayer. I'm eager to test again. With my AMD A10-7850k paired with a Radeon R9 290, I was only seeing 22fps high and down to 9fps low in multiplayer. It was almost unplayable. This game doesn't max this CPU at all, but The Division does. This CPU owns that game. I would certainly recommend this to anyone looking for a long-term CPU purchase. I don't intend to replace this for about 10yrs. I would buy 10 of these if I had the resources to use them, they're awesome. Despite these being built on a 32nm die, I don't know if you could accomplish the sheer computational force this thing has otherwise. It is almost double width than the 14nm you'll see in "other" CPUs, but I look at it like the difference between an eco-boost mustang and a mustang cobra. Which would you choose. I don't think there's anything I would change. I am a proud AMD fanboy.

1 out of 5 eggsFalse Adertisement

Pros: Nothing

Cons: Windows only reports 4 cores hyper threaded. Get's killed by a 6 core intel in my tests. Returned. Don't buy.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor

Pros: Eight cores, fast, cheaper than the other guy. Runs like a scalded dog.

Cons: what??????

Other Thoughts: I have this cpu running on an Asus Sabertooth R-2 Gen 3 board. I have had no problems with heat or stability. I have it cooled by a Corsair H110 with fans just in the pull configuration and it idles @34-36. It is also clocked @ 5.3, all day long with no hiccups. Memory runs @ 2600.
People need to pay attention to what motherboard is compatible with this cpu. Seems to me like there is a lot of operator error dealing with this cpu. As for a power supply, I run an XFX 1250w psu. You need to do your homework when it comes to this cpu. If not you will wind up like some of these folks here with a destroyed motherboard or blown psu or it just doesn't work on an incompatible motherboard.
This is my first serious AMD FX chip. I really like it. I would also recommend this chip to anyone who wants to build a high end AMD machine. I can't wait for the next gen of FX chips that come out in 2016.
If you have the money and the right equipment, I would recommend this chip. You won't regret it.
