5 out of 5 eggsSolid CPU

Pros: Used in an HTPC/light gaming build.
-1080p playback is smooth
-runs cool
-runs low-med end games flawlessly (e.g. Speedrunners, Emulated N64/SNES/MAME, Broken Age)
-No need for a discreet GPU for intended use

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: While the stock cooler kept the temperature fairly low, as usual was replaced with an after market cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsLow priced HD

Pros: HD graphics are no problem for this APU. Great for HTPC.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Although the graphics are great this is no CPU for a high end desktop.

1 out of 5 eggsboxed cpu doa???

Pros: none

Cons: this item was dead and never could get it to post. kept thinking I had bad motherboard. after ordering and trying 3 motherboards realized the cpu might be bad and tried it in known good system and still will not post.
over 30 days so they denied my rma.

Other Thoughts: i have never gotten a bad cpu in retail box before. guess I should have been faster. had been a while since I had built a system.

5 out of 5 eggsA4 Trinity APU with HD Graphics

Pros: Works great for my needs. I am happy. A pro is that its AMD and not the competition.

Cons: No cons ...AMD ROCKS!

Other Thoughts: Some customers are having difficulty getting video to work with certain boards and cpu combos. From their description they said tech support was baffled. I think I know what is going on. If you buy a FM1, FM2 or FM2+ motherboard.... even though it has a vga, hdmi and dvi ports on it doesn't mean it has integrated graphics. The graphics are on the processor...BUT ONLY ON SOME processors!... If you get an FM1, FM2 or FM2+ processor that says its an APU... that doesn't always mean its has graphics on the processor. I see the Athlon for this socket type doesn't have integrated graphics on the processor, also some of the low end A4 APU's don't even have integrated graphics on the Chip. Make sure your A4 or higher APU states it has HD6000, HD7000 or HD8000 series graphics on the processor or you WILL NEED a separate video card to get video on your monitor. The FM line of boards do not have a video processor built onto the motherboard even though the ports are there...., so be sure you buy the right Processor that states it HAS HD VIDEO included.

3 out of 5 eggsGood speed, bent pins.

Pros: For a parental email, photo, turbotax machine - runs Windows 8.1 at nice speeds. Quiet with stock cooler. Low Price.

Cons: Arrived with about 2 slightly bent pins... it took a firm, gentle, wiggling with pressure to get it seated in the socket. I came THIS close to RMA'ing before finally seating it.

4 out of 5 eggsAMD-5300 Trinity

Pros: Has video built in, ez to install, hs and fan are adequate, Reasonable price.

Cons: Not a con exactly, I bought this to up grade my son's older Intel E8800 system: 2.66 GHz, 4 gigs ddr2 800 ram, 5450 cedar 512 video Win 7 I built new with 8 gigd 10700 ram.
Performance results: E8800 6.6 A4-5300 6.2
Ram 5.5 7.2
I was disappointed that this cpu is slower that a 6yr old 2.66Ghz chip with ddr2 ram!! graphics were better, but what a waste

Other Thoughts: My older regor 250 scores a 6.6 at 3 ghz!!
I suggest getting a higher model. maybe it will equal older tech. btw my Denab quad at 2.7 ghz scores a 7.3and that is older tech as well

5 out of 5 eggsFAST FAST FAST!

Pros: 7480 video, 3.7ghz on MSI board (default speed), 65W helps keep it cool and casts you less for electricity.

Cons: only 1MB cache. Only 2x Core CPU.

Other Thoughts: Great priced CPU with a decent video on it. Speed can vary with mobo its installed on. Save $ with this CPU + GPU!

5 out of 5 eggsAMD a4-5300

Pros: I paired this APU with a ASUS A55BM-a MB and booted it up. Off the bat I put windows 7 (windows 8 is terrible and takes up alot of ram. With the apu and windows 8 it took a little over 1gb of ram from me.) This APU is nice, its very fast and can handle everything I need. I play counter strike a lot and this runs CSS with ease on high settings. Newer games you would probably want to upgrade to a better GPU.

Cons: None, it starts right up and runs things as fast as i could ask for. Glad i bought this chip. for the price it is well worth it.

2 out of 5 eggsVery slow; spend $10 more, get the A6 instead

Pros: Low price, it does work.

Cons: As a system builder, this "CPU" is one of the slowest I have tested in a long time. Reminds me of the old Semprons, but this may even be slower. I have built not one, but several systems with this APU and have been disappointed with the performance every time.

Two years ago AMD sold the Athlon II X2 250 CPU for the same price and it was faster than this. The primary difference is that now AMD is putting the GPU on-board with the CPU instead of it being bundled on the motherboard. A mistake in my opinion: it over-taxes the processor slowing it WAY down in this low end model. Seriously, spend $10 more and get the A6 if you are looking for a good budget system that you want to be happy with. You will be glad you did.
