5 out of 5 eggsAMD 6000

Pros: This chip is strong enough for most people's computing needs. Only the gamers would want more. Music, video, web activities, + misc editing- of these are all handled well. I've had this for 2 years running. Good solid value.

Cons: Heat. At 125w, it can run warm, at least it's not 140w. A good cooler is warranted. Most heat problems stem from poor case cooling.

Other Thoughts: Yes, my chip is oc'd-so it does handle it. Running liquid cooling, Geil ddr2-8500, & ATI 5770 on Asrock board. Running temp does not exceed 124 F. even under sustained max load at 3.15 mhz. Windows 7/64 bit.

5 out of 5 eggsGet one while you can

Pros: Have been using a Windsor 5200+ for more than a year in an everyday PC with Win 7 Beta, RC, and now Pro (all 64-bit). Boots surprisingly fast and overall performance is more than acceptable. No problems whatsoever. Runs on a Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UDP4 with 4GB of GSkill PC2-8500 teamed with a Visiontek HD 3870 OC which has also been great except for a little excessive fan noise from time to time.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: If you're an AMD fan boy or girl and don't have a good Windsor in your collection then get one while you can. Waited a long time for the Athlon 64 to mature and, it turned out, Windsor was probably the peak. The 5200+ Windsor is at least as good if not slightly faster than a 5400+ Brisbane. Surprisingly, haven't tried overclocking since it runs so well stock.

5 out of 5 eggsSWEET!!!

Pros: Coupled with 8Gb of RAM, this little puppy spanks Win2K8 srvr. Did give it a slight tweek, running at 3.4, stock air. No issues whatsoever.

Cons: Even with 8Gb of memory, it can't remember to add cream to my coffee.

Other Thoughts: Maybe Dual-Core (nowadays its 4-way and 6-way...). It is more than stout enough to do the job.

5 out of 5 eggsAMD 6000+ 125watt

Pros: Runs smooth and it IS powerful. Complete some benchmarks faster than AMD's competitor can using my stopwatch for real time tests, because some benchmarks can favor certain CPU makes.

Cons: No cons. well... it won't beat an i7 but its still faster than a red squirrel on caffeine.

Other Thoughts: Runs perfectly fine on a BIOSTAR A770 A2+ motherboard which states it will only take 95 watt chips... posted fine for me. Then I upgrade this chip to an AMD 9850 quad core on same board and the quad core wouldn't post until I upgrade bios from the 3/2008 bios to the 7/2008 bios... now the 125watt quad core posts on the A770 A2+ 95watt motherboard and runs like a champ! Both CPU's were 40-Celcius at idle with a stock AMD Aluminum heatsink and 4000rpm 80mm fan pulled off a sempron system... who says you need a nice cooler??? What most people need and refuse to have is a high rpm fan.. that is really all you need. My cheesy stock aluminum heatsink with a super light layer (just a dot smeared around with my FINGER which is a NO-NO according to instructions on applying thermal paste) of thermal paste works great! But if you have to have the snazzy cpu cooler then go and pay top $$$.

5 out of 5 eggsGood AMD Processor

Pros: This Processor is the great and last CPU for the AM2 socket. I bought it to replace the an AMD Athlon 64 3800+. It is a huge performance increase. They were designed the same year (2005) and have the same die shrink (90nm). I like how it has 2MB of L2 cache which is a big jump from 512Kb. I was unsure about the Wattage, but its labeled 125W. Dont let this scare you. I have a 450Watt PSU and everything runs fine.

Cons: not a con, but maybe more cache. Miss labeled does not run hot if you have a good case.

Other Thoughts: Wish my Mobo was a AM2+ or i would have bought a Phenom processor.

2 out of 5 eggsTo RMA or not to RMA?

Pros: Faster than 3600+ it is replacing.

Cons: Core#1 hardware faults in Prime95 in less than an hour. Temperatures are maxing out at only 45C with CoolerMaster 212+.

Other Thoughts: Bargain processor becomes less of a bargain when adding the cost to return a semi-functional defective.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Chip....

Pros: I am not a super technical person, however, I had the Intel before my mother board burned out and now I bought this chip and I really do not see a difference in performance at all.... !

Cons: nothing really

5 out of 5 eggsFast?!?!

Pros: Decided to upgrade my 4-yr-old CPU(being a 4-yr-old PC that it is) to this one. Had a Athlon X2 2.2 Ghz and seemed like it was bottlenecking some of the GPU's performance. So I switched over to this and boy, smooth, fast, blazes through apps like butter.

Cons: Nothing.

Other Thoughts: My old AST180-DU400B is like new again, for cheap! :D Benchmarking and gaming have improved by more than 50%.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: I upgraded from a 4600 to this processor. I can definitely notice a difference but not an insane improvement. Still, I really can't complain for the price. Also, want to add that I used my stock heatsink and fan from my 4600 with fairly cheap thermal paste. Temps run hot around 53C but don't get much higher under stress (57C). If I wasn't upgrading soon I might be more concerned about the heat.

Cons: None.
