5 out of 5 eggsLittle beast of a CPU

Pros: Value, durability

Cons: Availability, support

Other Thoughts: I have bought a few of these, and they have gone from being my main cpu to being used in guest and kid's computers.

The two I still have are still in use years later, and are surprisingly still going strong in the living room as a media center.

They were a little over $100 when I bought them, and have seen years of use.

4 out of 5 eggsReliable CPU

Pros: Not bad for overclocking, easy to get it to 3.7GHz, have it running 24/7 and no problems with it yet. Solid for an inexpensive gaming build or powerful home server

Cons: power consumption, need larger heatsink for overclock

Other Thoughts: I have used this CPU for gaming and a 24/7 backup server. No problems whatsoever, even when overclocked for gaming. Ran games like Skyrim and Battlefield 3 at 1080p with >30 fps when paired with a Radeon 6870

5 out of 5 eggsAMD Phenom II X4 965 black edition

Pros: It over clocks unimaginably well and still runs very cool, I have a cheap heat sink on it, and can run 1.63 volts through it at 4.5 GHz WITHOUT IT HITTING 60! the heat sink is some artic 7 thing which came with the board and CPU that I found lying in a junk heap at an earth day fair.

Cons: It is old, 45nm architecture is not great, but it does still run games very well. obviously it will be a bottle neck for some higher end cards.

Other Thoughts: I got one with an asus motherboard that was designed for overclocking, so these results are better than average. I would no really buy one due to its age, but when I saw a free motherboard and CPU with a heat sink, I could not pass it up.

5 out of 5 eggsRan fine for 4 years

Pros: I used the stock fan with the already applied thermal paste and had no issues over four years. The temps are a little high now, but that's because I've taken literally no care of this thing. :)

Cons: I'm fairly certain it held back my HIS IceQ X 2gb 6950, but I didn't notice until I got a deal on a new gtx 970 and my fps didn't go up at all. Makes me wonder if I would have gone Intel whether or not I'd've had a better time these past four years.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this - it is very old. It was great when it came out for what I needed it for. :)
