5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Been working perfectly for nearly three years. Temps and performance still exactly what it was three years ago. I've never been happier with a piece of computer hardware

Cons: none. I remember the stock fan giving high temps until I replaced it but I may have applied it bad

5 out of 5 eggsGreat processor for a mid range gaming pc

Pros: For the low price of $109.99 you would think that you would not get much from this processor, but if your looking to build a mid range gaming build this is the processor to do so. With it's high clock rate and 4 cores you can easily build a cheap rig that will get you through at least a year or two of next gen games.

It also comes with a beefy heat sink which is always a plus.

Cons: The only real complaint I have is the heatsink is a little hard to get on, once it is on though it is quite snug.

Other Thoughts: I have not tried overclocking with this processor. I imagine with something other then the stock cooler the over clocking capabilities would be great!

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT !!!!!!

Pros: A "5-egg" overall review, over 2826 total reviews with 2741 "4 or 5 egg review". I had a new motherboard with Socket AM3......installed the 965......worked great, sold it on "some online auction site beginning with the letter "e" and ending with "bay"..........wish I would have kept the system :(

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Going strong for 3+ years. Can still run modern games. Solid.

Cons: Does seem to get a little warm, even with after market fans, but I think that might be a ventilation problem with my case.

5 out of 5 eggs3 years, Going Strong!

Pros: Extremely fast. Extremely Cool (using stock & customer heatsinks both) Very reliable processor. It's easy to install, easy to overclock on the board I have, and it's been the heart of my design business for 3 years.

Cons: None that I can tell so far. It runs the way it should, has tons of bells and whistles under the hood that make it as powerful as some newer processors, minus the integrated gfx chips but hell, that's what video cards are for!

5 out of 5 eggsA real trooper

Pros: This was a great processor while I had it. It's now in a friends computer as a gift, but boy it really could put out. I was able to run most of all modern day games at med-high. I did overclock to 4.2Ghz, but I could not get passed that mark using Hyper 212 Evo with 2 fans. It's certainly worth the money, and If I was building another buget machine, I'd buy another one.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsThe little processor that could

Pros: An old CPU that's still a beast till this day. paired with a 7870 Tahiti and over clocked to 3.8 GHZ, I get around 50 to 60 frames in BF4 (depending on the map)

Cons: it's starting to show it's age.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat a badboy!

Pros: This processor is a beast considering its release date. Runs smoothly on most games.

Cons: Struggles when zoomed in on new cpu demanding games like Rome 2.

5 out of 5 eggsStill usefull in 2014

Pros: I have been running the Phenom II series of processors for a few years not.

clocks to 4ghz (my other one is at 4.2 with water)

Performance on par with overclocked core two intel chips and sometimes on par with 1st gen i7 cpus.

Cons: Consumes a good amount of power and will run hot if not cooled well.

Other Thoughts: I just used some benchmarks on my 4.2ghz system to compare against AMDs newest FX chips (overclocked) and their newest APUS. My phenom beats all the APUs easily and most of the 4 and 6 core FX chips. The 8 core chip can beat me only in threaded applications. The FX chips still have a lower IPC than the Phenom II.

Ive been looking for a reason to upgrade and I simply cant find one. For a chip so old it is still very competitive with all of AMD's offerings. The newest intel i3 cannot touch it. Only the intel i5 and i7 processors can bring the heat and they still cost twice to triple as much.

I have an AM3+ board so I am waiting and hopping AMD will drop another CPU into this socket. It does not look like they will and I will most likely grab the highest clocked 8 core offering they have and overclock it in my water loop. That is my only option if I want an "upgrade" without having to switch to intel (and buyer another board)
