Like the superheroes of old, the AMD Phenom II streaks out of the night to lay waste to your enemies with has 2.6GHz quad cores, L1 and L2 caches for each core, and 4MB of L3 cache to be shared to handle really heavy loads or large data sets.

Memory transfers get faster than ever. HyperTransport Generation 3.0 mode allows up to 16.0GB/s of bandwidth. Up to 17.1GB/s memory bandwidth for DDR2 and up to 21GB/s memory bandwidth for DDR3 memory controller delivers an amazing 37GB/s of processor-to-system bandwidth. This unprecedented bandwidth is needed to feed the data hungry AMD64 with Direct Connect Architecture cores.

You'd think that all of this power would be too hot to handle. Think again. AMD's Cool'n'Quiet 3.0 technology works with CoolCore Technology to minimize heat while keeping power and efficiency up. Now the cores can shut down unused parts of the processor when not in use. This saves power and helps to reduce the amount of heat generated. This function is built in so there's no need for drivers or BIOS updates.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome CPU

Pros: great cpu. i've had this cpu for well over a year now and i have never had a problem with it. It runs very cool (i have a nice cooler but it ran fairly cool with the stock cooler). i only overclocked it once but it ran fine. i didn't need the extra power from overclocking for my purposes since the cpu is very powerful without overclocking.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: super cpu. 5 eggs for a reason!

5 out of 5 eggsGood Processor

Pros: Great Processor. I don't overclock my stuff, but I can say it's nice and quick for my purposes... I've used AMD for many years now and can't say enough good about their products

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I'm becoming a "newegg junkie". :D

5 out of 5 eggsVery good CPU!

Pros: I included the AMD 810 in a new build last summer with a Asus M4A79T Deluxe board, 4GB Corsair RAM, ASUS 4850 videocard and Vista Ultimate. After setting up the BIOS correctly, this build's HD just crackles it is so quick!!! Very, very quick. I expect a good computer upgrade here would be a SSD instead of a CPU some day. Incredibly fast with zero problems. But, no matter how fast they are, we will always want quicker. The need for speed never ends. Very impressive and stable even 10 months later.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Although this is not a high end, high $$ CPU, it sure performs like one. I expect it to be very reliable also as I have had zero AMD CPU problems in 9 years. I do use very expensive CPU coolers like Noctura and such because heat is the biggest problem. Some builders scrimp on good CPU coolers or not using a good sine wave UPS for power. These small moneysaving mistakes cause computer damage and then blame AMD or Intel for lack of quality control.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor

Pros: With everything that I run on my system, I have yet to have any problems with this CPU. Mostly I use my machine for school and office work, and occasionally I will play a few games (2004 era) on it. It supports DDR2 and DDR3 RAM so that leaves some room for upgrading the rest of the system.

Cons: For the most part, the processor runs cool enough with the stock cooler. However, I prefer to use a aftermarket cooler that does a better job. The aftermarket processor cooler keeps my processor under 35c with a full load for prolonged periods of time during hot summer days with little or no AC. The normal average temp is usually around 18c or less.

2 out of 5 eggsWhat is this???

Pros: Quadcore
64-bit Architecture
45nm 95W CPU
Direct Connect
AM3 Socket

Cons: Just one: After owning it for just under a year, I now have a total failure on my hands. I had to switch out the fan/heatsink yesterday after the fan stopped running while I was working. I heard the fan stop and not come back on and immediately shut down the system. I keep my CPU temp monitor on and my temps didn't get to spike above 50c before I disconnected the power. Now I have a total failure on my hands and a CPU I'm forced to replace. It initializes whenever it feels like it and crashes at random. Awesome.

Other Thoughts: I was never a big fan of AMD until the Phenom II line. These things have the best bang for the buck available. The only thing is, if I have to replace them every 9 months; it's kind of not worth it. I would like to note that I also have computers with 945's and 965's and have no issues with them whatsoever. They perform just fine and have for several months now. I have no idea what this thing's problem is; its big brothers seem to like me just fine.

5 out of 5 eggsAMD Phenom II X4

Pros: Great performance and price! Who needs Intel!
Runs quiet and cool without and hiccups using stock heatsink and fan that came with CPU.

Cons: None that I can note

Other Thoughts: This build was with a Phenom, ASUS M4A79T motherboard, 4GB of ram, 2 1GB Radeon HD 4670 in crossfire mode (will add 2 more soon for a total of 4), 64 gb SSD as the primary drive (G Skill), and a 1.5 TB hard drive as my secondary drive under windows 7 pro 64 bit, in an HTPC case.
Works like butter.
I'm a PC and I use AMD!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor

Pros: Still going after six months and going strong. One month ago I noticed my CPU was above 45 degrees and I at once checked into my system and found that there was some dust on the cpu heat sink, so I removed the heatsink and fan and blew the dust off of both re-applied heatsink compound and remounted the heatsink and the temp fell by almost 15 degrees at once to low 30 degree range. My computers runs 24/7 so is best to do a little preventive maintenance once in a while or you could be sorry.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: definitely recommend this Processor

5 out of 5 eggsGreat in business enviroment

Pros: Lower TDP then the others at the time I bought. It's a quad. 4MB L3 is good too.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: At the time I made the purchase the other quads were 125watters and I didn't want that for the business. Now they have a 925 with 95w TDP for around the same price and that may be the better deal now since it has 6mb L3. I put it on a motherboard with onboard graphics and on one with a dedicated card and the one with the video card of course just zooms. The company I built for always tells me "man that's fast"! They notice a big speed increase on the boards using onboard video too, but very impressed when the is load taken off the board using the added 4650. I use the 720 for my self at home in xfire/DDR2 1066 and this beats that hands down with DDR3 1333. In it's DDR3 enviroment, this is really a great deal. Impressive is all I got to say for the price paid.
