5 out of 5 eggsMy computer ROCKS now

Pros: Upgraded from athlon x2 5200. I also have a 9800 gtx video card. I use to play FS2004 with frame rate of 30-44 with half graphics, now I am full graphics and 50+. Load times on applications are fast. It feels like I got a new computer. Easy install just pop it in and it works. BIOS automatically recognized. When I brought my first chip x2 5200. This chip was well over $200, now for $89, what a bargin

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: Don't delay buy it.

5 out of 5 eggsworks perfectly

Pros: Very low cost because you don't have to repurchase the stock cooler you aren't going to use anyway.

Cons: I think mine was mis-marked. I tried to install it in the same orientation as the CPU I took out, but it didn't fit. I checked my motherboard manual to make sure I was lining it up correctly. The manual clearly shows the arrow on the CPU should be diagonally opposite the locking lever when the lever is straight up, and that's how I had it When I looked at the bottom of the CPU and compared it to the socket, the blank spots on the CPU were parallel to the blank spots on the socket. I rotated it 90 degrees, so the arrow is now parallel at the end opposite the locking lever arm, and it fit. I've been building PC's since the early 90's and have never seen anything like this. It works perfectly, I'm not sure how this made it through QA.

Other Thoughts: I installed this in an Asus M3N-HT Deluxe/HDMI, after upgrading to the 2904 BIOS. Installation was a snap once I got the CPU orientation sorted out. Dropped it in, locked it down, put the cooler back on, and it was done. I'm using a Scythe Ninja Mini CPU cooler and have noticed that the CPU idles 6 - 8C hotter than my older 89W Athlon X2 5600+. Nothing major, just worth noting that you might need to consider increasing your cooling.

5 out of 5 eggsAlmost Didn't Make It

Pros: Reasonable price.

Cons: NewEgg shipping. The CPU was placed inside a much larger box along with a MOBO and a power supply. The CPU in a flimsy clear plastic container. No additional packing material (!!) caused the plastic CPU container to pop open during transit and the CPU ended up bouncing around the inside of the box. When I opened the cardboard box I found a CPU with pins bent every which way.

Other Thoughts: I carefully bent the pins back into place and ran a one hour CPU Stability Test (CPU Warming). No problems at all. It"s one tough CPU, that's for sure. Generates a reasonable amount of heat. I got the higher frame rates I was looking for.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfectly

Pros: Works well, easy install, I prefer it OEM, Great Price for Great speed.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I got this as an upgrade for a 1.87 dual-core and the difference is unbelievable. I can Open up Firefox in less than a second and I can run Crysis on maximum with a smooth frame rate with my GeForce 9800 GT, and only get about 75% usage while toppling a building and getting fired at by 10 guys in Red Faction: Guerilla. I love it

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU!

Pros: Works wonderfully! Relatively cheap/inexpensive for great quality. I have always loved AMD and this CPU is great example of why. Computer runs great with it - no problems with running it nor with installing the CPU on the motherboard (an ASUS).

Cons: No heatsink included, which I guess isn't really a con since I didn't realize this was OEM until after I already got it. Had to run to Best Buy to buy a ridiculous heatsink though, so I paid a bit more than I wanted to but with it the CPU is cooler than my refrigerator :-) ...

Other Thoughts: Great processor. Definitely a great buy, especially for a first-time quad core owner. Just make sure you get a good heatsink since it doesn't come with it.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor..

Pros: -Easy install for AM2+ slots
-FAST 2.5 quad
-VERY cheap for your buy

Cons: -Doesn't come with cooling supplies, if you your a beginner and building a computer, you want to make sure to pick this up, if you try to start your computer up without a cpu cooling system, your computer will shut down almost immediately, due to your cpu overheating BY A LOT.. happened to me a few years ago. Make sure to change your thermal paste every 3 months or less, this processor gets hot

(overall only con is it gets hot)

Other Thoughts: This is definitely one of those items that define the word "Value" would recommend it to a lot of people, and in fact will.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent value

Pros: This is the consumer version of the Opteron 2360SE. Dell's spec.org scores for this cpu(PowerEdge R805) top the Xeon 5482 3.2 ghz(Precision T7400) Harpertown by about 9%. In honest "work" benchmarks it will outperform all but the I5 and 7. Gaming is a different story as games are designed to use 4k or less page files so ghz matters more than true processing power. This cpu is designed with 16k page files in mind so with the right memory it is great for photoshop, Premiere, Solidworks , Catia Unigraphics NX. Better 3D rendering with the L3 cache than prior generations.

Cons: Should have used more than 512k/cpu in L2 or larger L3 to cut latency.

Other Thoughts: Price performance ratio is matched only by the Deneb 940 when using the OCZ AM2 Special memory

3 out of 5 eggsGreat but died on me due to overheating

Pros: Great processor, ran like a champ on my Asus M3A. Plugged it in, configured the bios and I was off and running.

Cons: After about a year I noticed a High pitched wine coming from the processor area and the computer started locking up or freezing. Trouble shot and found that the processor it's self was making the noise under heavy load (startup and highly graphic intense games). Found that the thermal compound on the stock heat sink had pretty much baked it's self dry and had started to crumble away. After many attempts to get it to work drummed it down to heat damage. Alas I have had it to long to return but wanted to write a review anyways.

Other Thoughts: If you buy this I would suggest don't use the stock fan and heat sink. Or better yet just get a Phenom II 940.
