5 out of 5 eggsStill great bang for your buck

Pros: Solid processor for the price, very competent overclocker with sb750 3.2 ghz with slight volt bump, runs everything I throw at it without a hiccup

Cons: Phenom 2's are faster and higher ocers, Am3 isn't too much more expensive.

Other Thoughts: This processor in my experience overclocks quite well 3.0 ghz with no voltage change, can hit 3.4 or higher with amd overdrive though through bios I have it stable at 1.36 volts at 3.2ghz. Get a quality 790gx board with this and you have a low cost powerful rig waiting to happen.

5 out of 5 eggsStable at load, affordable

Pros: I am a computational scientist and digital artist running Linux, and I abuse my hardware: I run all 4 cores for weeks at a time while also using the machine as my standard desktop. This CPU is a rock. GHz for GHz it is as fast as the Opterons and faster than Intel's offerings for heavy computational loads. And the price is great.

Cons: Supposedly it consumes (or generates in heat) 125 W, which is a bit costly for something that is on 24/7 at load. But the 65 and 95 Watt versions aren't as powerful.

Other Thoughts: I have the Blue Orb CPU fan attached to this CPU, and the core temps rarely get above 57C.

4 out of 5 eggsA decent processor-good bang for buck if on sale

Pros: Quad core, speedy, easy to apply mild overclocking with stability. Expect ~2.9 Ghz before air cooled problems arise.

Cons: Heat is the big issue with this chip (and power consumption). If you have gone to the trouble of buying the Black Edition, you expect to overclock, but this chip has a fairly low ceiling compared to others. I could not reasonably get it above 3.0GhHz without stability problems on my system. I can't knock it an egg b/c of the price. Mine came carefully packaged, taped in a plastic case onto a HDD. So, all-in-all...I really have nothing major to say in the con department. Very good, not perfect=4 eggs.

Other Thoughts: This is a good chip for the price, and I can't think of a competitor that offers a similar chip of the same kick at the same price. I got this with a Gigabyte mobo combo and saved ~$50, so well worth it for a family/budget gaming computer. I used an Arcctic Cooling 64 to tame the radiation- a 120mm fan exhaust fan helps too.

5 out of 5 eggsBack in Black

Pros: Proc comes with OEM heatsink and a nice amount of Artic Silver paste. The proc is easy to install, runs smooth and very stable. Core temp stays with default equipment around 45-48 on the temp. Solid processor and a great buy! Highly suggested, handles X64 OS and Apps very well.

Cons: No cons, but I would suggest replacing heatsink with a more robust one if you want to leave your system on 24/7 or overclock to assure best cooling.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: I game with this CPU and it works great. If you're on a budget, then this is a great CPU. It also leaves the option of upgrading to a Phenom II, and since DDR3 offers very little over DDR2 for the price difference, this is a great choice for the future as well. Overclocks pretty well too. Got mine to 3 GHz on the stock cooler. With cool'n'quiet on, it idles at 35 C and under 100% load (prime95) goes near 70 C.

Cons: Not that much L3 cache compared to other CPUs.

Other Thoughts: I can play all the newest games.

5 out of 5 eggsGTA IV player

Pros: Runs great, plays GTA IV with modest settings at 3360x1050. Never had any heating issues and I'm using a standard case without any insanely huge fans or vents.

Windows XP x64 runs on it like a champ.

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: Didn't realize it already had some arctic silver but I added some from a buddy's tube anyway.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent overclocker

Pros: Overclocked to 2.8GHz by changing multiplier without any bump in CPU voltage.

Cons: Stock heatsink and fan are inadequate for any overclocking.

Other Thoughts: Have had it up to 3.0GHz on air, but I do not trust the temps on my motherboard and didn't want to push it.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding

Pros: AM2+ socket.. Quad Core..

Cons: I Like rainbows.. Rainbows are pretty..

Other Thoughts: Upgraded to this chip specifically due to it being AM2+ since I have a asus 750a board & 1066 ram.. with my x64 5k+ that I was running before I could not run the ram at 1066, instead stuck at 800.. So now I am seeing the extra speed of the ram & the other 2 cores..

Cons: High power consumption.

Other Thoughts: Comes with a decent base model cpu fan.
