4 out of 5 eggsDecent, but still not enough

Pros: Low power consumption, the fastest processor that HPs Windows Home Server can support. File compression speeds were dramatically increased. Streaming video through ORB over the internet is now doable, whereas with the stock processor, it was unbearable, with choppy video, as the processor maxes out when the video playback starts.

Cons: Playback over my home network to my notebook or Xbox 360 through ORB is still not possible, as the processor pegs itself at 100%.

Other Thoughts: If you are going to upgrade your processor on a HP WHS, make sure to pickup a tube of Arctic Silver 5, and the cleaner from Arctic silver as well. The combo of the products is dramatic, and I use them on all my computers. It is highly recommended from modders across the net to use when installing the processor on the EX470 etc...
If you aren't going to use the processor for video streaming, but want some extra grunt from the system, this is an inexpensive mod and worth the time involved.

5 out of 5 eggsGood price, good deal. Worth it.

Pros: Fast processor, overclocks great and easily, idles at 37 degrees celcius at 2.83Ghz on stock. Could've gone higher on stock but it idled at 49 celcius which is a bit higher than I'd like it be.

Cons: None come to mind.

Other Thoughts: If I were you I'd spend a few extra bucks and get dual core. Reason I didn't is cause i was on a $100 budget for a new cpu+mobo+ram. But if you're up to it this is a great deal!

5 out of 5 eggsawesome !

Pros: great single core chip for an am2 platform. i was looking to buld a system for a friend at an affordable price, and since they are not gaming or anything high end, this chip will do just fine.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: very impressed with its performance for a single core chip.

5 out of 5 eggseasy overclock

Pros: overclocks 20% (240 fsb) without having to raise the core voltage. No increase in temps! Running cool and quite so only uses max when needed. Seems as snappy as dual core.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Running windows 7 and xp dual boot. Using a GIGABYTE GA-MA74GM-S2, 2 gig single channel geil, MSI R4350-D512Hv2 Radeon HD 4350. Video card purchased only to run games. Very happy with this for a budget computer. Hard to beat newegg!

4 out of 5 eggssingle core

Pros: Run really sweet with the MOBO I used. as far as a single core you really cant go wrong with this one. and the price is great

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: I would have rather went with a dual core, but price was the main reason I chosse this one. If you dont plan to put large loads on it? This one will work just fine.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing little chip

Pros: Amazingly fast running XP given the price and it being single core

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: I bought this chip to replace the chip in an HP Medis Smart Server but it seemed to be vulnerable to overheating so I removed it.

I wanted to build an inexpensive general purpose computer for a friend (for email, Office, web). I purchased a low-end Gigabyte MB, and figured I'd try this chip just to make sure I had built the system OK, and then replace it with something faster.

But it's been a couple of days and I don't see a need to replace it. Granted, were I purchasing this chip to start out with, I'd have probably spend the extra $20 and gotten a dual core chip, but I am stunned at how well this does.

5 out of 5 eggsso far no problems 24/7

Pros: I bought this 45W CPU specifically for my home built WHS. I think it's a great CPU for that purpose, and the box is on 24/7 with no problems so far.

Cons: none, read other thoughts

Other Thoughts: The stock heatsink is not quiet. If that's important to you, buy a separate cooler. It's not an issue for me, as the server box sits in the basement.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: OK cpu for internet and super light gaming. Only 45w TDP, and runs cool. Can overclock pretty well too, I've had it up to 3.1.

Cons: Not enough cpu to run even most games. Just a super simple older game like wolf3D puts the CPU at 100% the entire time you are playing

Other Thoughts: I played wolf 3D for over an hour with the cpu clock at 2.9ghz and the cpu usage was 100% the entire time. I forgot to bump up the cpu fan speed, it was only at 1300 rpm the entire time and after I was done the core temp was 38c. Bumped the fan speed to full 3200 rpm and it cooled down to 30c in under a minute. Typically idles at 28-30c (with the mobo temp ~23c) even with the fan always at 1300 rpm.

4 out of 5 eggsso so

Pros: OK processor for home use only, internet etc.

Cons: I have it OC'd to 3.0 ghz and it's not enough cpu to even run C&C. Cpu usage is pegged at 100% the whole time and words keep blipping in and out.
Single core's just can't do the job anymore, and this is one of the fastest single core's out there too. Oh well, kind of wasted my money on it thinking it would be fast enough for my needs.

Other Thoughts: Upgrading to 7750 am2+ Kuma dual core and G. Skill 1066 ram.
Current setup is kingston ddr2 800 2X1gb, ASRock 780g full HD board, and this CPU. Not enough oomf

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for HP MediaSmart E4750/5 Upgrade

Pros: Given the original HP MediaSmart servers were underpowered and didn't have enough RAM, this is part one of an upgrade that does exactly what you want at a price you can't beat. I added a 2GB Patriot DDR2 to finish off the upgrade and now the console runs fast and true.

Cons: Nothing yet!
