4 out of 5 eggsJust be warned

Pros: I searched around on the net for info on a solid PSU for a Dell system, and they said this was the one to get.

Cons: After about a month, it started to make a chirping type noise, so i opened it up, knowing that it would void my warrenty, to see if i could fix it. Turns out the noise is not coming from the fan but it sounds like its by the capacitor or something

Other Thoughts: Computer is still running fine for about 2 months. Still not confident that its going to last more then 6 months. I

If anyone else has had this problem and fixed it please post how you did it.

5 out of 5 eggsGood product

Pros: Automatically detects input voltage (no selector), has every plug you'll need and more, clean steady power

Cons: No included zip ties for cable management, no power switch on box

Other Thoughts: Powers an E8500 cpu and HD 4890 gpu with no problems. There are a lot of cables (it's not modular) so make sure you have some zip ties on hand to put away the unused cables neatly. There's no power switch on the back, which kind of bothered me. Finally, I had to install it upside-down in my case, but that might just be my case.

4 out of 5 eggsGX270 PSU upgrade

Pros: Good fit in Optiplex GX270 case, only uses three screws, case has a pin where the 4th screw would go. Plenty of juice to keep this tired old beast running a bit longer, lots of power on 12V rail for my AGP Radeon 3850. More connectors than I'll ever need on this machine. Oh and great shipping time. I had this from Newegg in 8 days, while I'm still waiting to receive one I ordered 2 weeks before from a competing website (UE). I'll be sticking with Newegg!

Cons: Only complaint I have is this irritating high pitched electrical scratching sound coming from it, it seems to be gone when the display is actively changing, it fluctuates in time with minor display changes like typing and mouse movement, but just buzzes away when the display is idle...

Other Thoughts: Cable length is a bit overkill, trying to close Dell's fancy slide open case while maneuvering extra wires was a challenge to say the least. Would love to see a Dell compatible PSU with modular outputs where you only plug into the psu the cables you need.

2 out of 5 eggsIt works, but noisily

Pros: Successfully provided the extra power I needed for a couple of hungry applications on my older Dell

Cons: Overly sensitive to ambient temperature, and winds up to high droning noise very quickly. Then refuses to wind back down for quite a while (hours, sometimes) after all apps shut down. Noise is loud enough to drown out radio across room, and make conversation difficult.

Other Thoughts: I think humidity may be playing a part, also. I bought this in February, and only occasionally experienced noise. However, when summer came, things got much worse. As I write this, the temp in the room is 74 degrees and relative humidity is 82%. A small auto-backup ran about a half hour ago, and the computer was otherwise idle. It is droning away, and driving me nuts! By far, the noisiest P.S. I have ever experienced. BIOS does not support threshhold adjustments.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi, please contact our support personnel at the link below so that we can assist you with troubleshooting. One thing to consider is that you may have a much higher temp inside your case than you realize. Try removing the side door and see if that helps. If it does, you might consider revamping your case cooling to lower the "ambient" temp that your PSU is seeing.
Thanks

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU upgrade

Pros: Powers my E520 Inspiron, Great for upgrading your video card to the latest. I run my computer for hours gaming and it's really quiet.

Cons: When I first powered on it made a clicking sound, found out that the fan was hitting something...So i opened it up and fixed it, now it runs like a charm.

Other Thoughts: Problem is most likely due to poor handling, soon to upgrade to a 4890.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Powering E6300 and GTX275 easily.

Cons: none @ all.

Other Thoughts: If your running a dual core with a single videocard you will be fine. If you want SLI and a quad core, go for the 750watt PC power and cooling PSU. Purchased almost 10 of those so far and all are beyond perfect. Had (2) 750's powering a tri SLI gtx 260 system with Q9450.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for Dell PC

Pros: I slipped this into a Dell XPS 420, upgrading the 375 unit to this 500. Small gap is not a problem. Quiet, too.

Cons: None
