3 out of 5 eggsNearly 4 years later she dying

This review is from: Antec NeoECO C NeoECO 620C 620W ATX12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: It worked for over 3 years flawlessly.
It's quiet.

Cons: It's not that efficient.
It's non-modular.
Sleeving isn't that great.
It also died after the warranty period expired.

Other Thoughts: Power supply issues are very difficult to diagnose, but it all circumstances, I have narrowed it down to the power supply as the only culprit. My computer will shutdown randomly usually in games after a long period of gaming. Fans spin up to max, screen goes black, and she reboots. Happens frequently enough now to make me go buy a new, better power supply. Shame it only lasted the warranty period, probably due to cheap internal components or caps that can't take the heat.

5 out of 5 eggsCapable cooler, great value

This review is from: Antec NeoECO C NeoECO 620C 620W ATX12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: - Extremely quiet
- Good value
- More than enough power to handle high-end components

Cons: - Routing cables is a bit complicated

Other Thoughts: Overall, I would have to say that I have no complaints, except that installing a non-modular PSU turned out to be a lot more complicated than I expected.

1 out of 5 eggsFaulty NEO Eco 620 PSW

This review is from: Antec NeoECO C NeoECO 620C 620W ATX12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: This is Antec quality? I bought from Newegg, the Antec EA500 in 2008, perfect. Also, in 2010 Antec Earthwatts 650, perfect. Quiet as a church on both PSW's. One runs 24/7/365, the other 05/06/365.

Cons: Here are the facts. Bought the first NEO Eco 620 on 02/06/2012. Tested the PSW in a system, unit checked out fine. Boxed it up for a back up PSW. Bought the second NEO 620 on 12/17/2012, again tested it in a system, then boxed it up for an extra backup. Both had rebates. The older Coolermaster 550W I was running atthe time. was quiet, fine, but I wanted to place the each 620 unit in service, as the warranty was 1 to 2 years away from expiring.

I placed the 1st 620 PSW in service. After about 15 minutes or so, noise, very LOUD whining type of noise, that was so loud, one could hear it throughout the whole house. I was stumped. I let it run for a week 24/7. Shut it down for a day, nothing, the noise came back. The noise would subside some but would come back, time after time. I took the PSW out then tried the 2nd NEO Eco. Same result, LOUD WHINING noise. Took the 2nd unit out and hooked up the Cool 550W. Everything is normal with the Cool 550W PSW. Then, this week I saw Newegg had an XFX TS550 on sale this week, got it Friday 02/21/14. Pulled the Cool 550W out and hooked up the XFX in service. Quiet as a church...(note: XFX's main biz is video cards). It's been running 24 hrs. around the clock, 3rd day running. No problems.

I've beenbuiling pc's since the mid 1990's and never experienced anything like these NEO Eco 620's. The reason I bouy Antec PSW's is they are superb at this. Does lightning strike in the same place twice? YES, I just won the lotto on these 620's:) Yes, if you buy the Neo 620's. Why this is happening is beyond me. A bad batch on two different days and months? Perhaps poor QC from Antec. Refurbs? I rule nothing out.

What do these 620's power up system wise? A socket 478 MOBO, 2 gigs of memory, one WDC 80JB Gig drive, one floppy, 1 cd-rom, one simple ATI radeon card and two 80mm fans in the case. BIOS reads on system temps at around 32C. Frosty cool. Using Win XP-SP3. A 300W PSW could run this system and be at idle.

The EA500 is powering a high-end system, with multiple drives, fans, video cards, etc., etc., in an Antec Sonata Solo case with no problems, 24/7/365. Quiet reliable Antec quality. Same with the EA650, superb.

Why would anyone pass up a deal on an Antec PSW, like the NEO Eco 620? It's Antec quality, right? WRONG!

Other Thoughts: I have not contacted Antec yet, as i needed to write this for anyone that wants to read this review. I do not know what Antec can do for me, but these NEO 620's I do NOT want. I do not trust this product. They are brand new. I have purchased a number of Antec products from Newegg, as well as other brands. Newegg is a great place to shop, however, this is a special case that needs to be addressed fairly. I've wasted so much time and effort dealing with these faulty 620's. Let's see how this resolves....still under warranty but I don't want this line of PSW'. Period.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid PSU if on Sale

This review is from: Antec NeoECO C NeoECO 620C 620W ATX12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Seasonic Build. Industrial Grey color. Plenty of cables. Solid 48 Amps on a single rail. Super quiet BB 120mm fan.

Cons: None really. Could have had a longer warranty, but I'm splitting hairs here.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't purchase this PSU @ the normal $70.00 price tag unless you're were in a hurry. I bought mine for $34.99 AR $35.00 rebate. I just filled out the paperwork & sent it in, so I hope that Antec will come thru (will reserve my complete review if it doesn't) It's a good PSU so far. It's a basic Seasonic build (which isn't a bad thing) This is a mid-level PSU that is rock solid & if you don't mind a non-modular set-up, then it's pretty good. I built this for my parents computer & I think (& hope) it will get years of usage.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice PSU

This review is from: Antec NeoECO C NeoECO 620C 620W ATX12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I've used this on my main build for over a year and haven't had any power related issues at all. It's quiet and keeps everything running well, what more could you want? Good efficiency is a big plus as this machine has been running 24/7 for a long time and will continue to.

Cons: The mounting of the fan might not work if you have some kind of weird case going on, but shouldn't be a problem.

Other Thoughts: Good brand, good build, good PSU.

5 out of 5 eggsWell built, dead quiet.

This review is from: Antec NeoECO C NeoECO 620C 620W ATX12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Fantastic build quality, especially cables. Runs like it is shut off. 80P certified. 48A off the 12V rail means your video card is fine.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Best PSU I have ever had.

4 out of 5 eggsGood to go

This review is from: Antec NeoECO C NeoECO 620C 620W ATX12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Cheap, good deal for the money I paid with the mail in rebate

Cons: Whirring noise from the fan on startup? I'm hoping this won't be an issue but when I startup my computer I get a slight whirr noise from the fan that goes away. I unplugged all my case fans and double checked my GPU and CPU and it seems to be coming from the PSU. Either way, it quiets up after a few seconds and doesn't seem to make any other noise or have any issues while running and I do run it most of the day - maybe 18 hours or so. If there are any issues I will see it soon and update this review.

Other Thoughts: Just needed a 600+W PSU to replace my trusty old Enermax 420W that has been running for close to 5 years strong now. I recently went from a 460GTX to a 760GTX and needed the extra juice from my PSU. This seems to hold up just fine. As usual, newegg ships amazing fast and no issues ordering from their site.
