5 out of 5 eggsAntec Stable Reliable 5 years on

Pros: We have had this for so long that we just haven't given it much thought. When you shop for components and you are unfamiliar with a brand or model you may have your fingers crossed for a while but Antec has always been reliable for me. All previous Antec I have purchased still work to date including my first one back in 2002.

This is powering

MSI 785gm e65 motherboard
Phenom2 CPU
MSI GTS250 video card w/1 gig ram
4 gigs of Mushkin 1600 ram
5 hard drives
1 SSD drive
Liteon dvd disk drive
syba usb sound card
4 case cooling fans
120mm cpu fan
usb headphones
2 usb mice

Plenty of molecs and sata power connectors

The cabling is quality

Cons: There is just not any cons that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: When I hooked up a meter to the pc power connector the system idled at 80 watts and during my game play it used 300 watts so there is and has been plenty of overhead and I plan on using this PSU until it is maxed out to specs but then again after 5 years that may not ever happen.

Over the years I have used Antec and I have never had one break or die. I know there is a certain amount of luck involved but these are built by great engineers.

Don't buy a cheap power supply! A cheap power supply is
not worth the headaches that comes with them and the worry of a fire. Cheap PSU's either have no protection circuits or possibly unreliable ones. When you buy cheap you accept that chance.

Even though I personally have never had a DOA Antec that doesn't mean it can't happen nor would it deter me from continuing to be a customer, those things happen and it comes with the territory.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: So far, so good. I bought a similar PSU back in 2006 that failed after a year, so let's hope this one lasts longer.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I made this comment on my other parts as well:

Computer parts are freaking cheesy these days. The z97 mobo flexes when you plug things in, the GTX 760 bends downward on one side due to its own weight, the stock Intel cooler is held on my flimsy plastic clips, the case is slightly bowed inward due to a manufacturing defect, and the modular PSU came with bent pins. All of the parts came from reputable manufacturers.

9 years ago, I spent half as much on a budget build and had much higher confidence in the durability of the parts. It seems as though durability has been reduced across the board for new products. With this new build, I’d be afraid to bump the side of the case.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Antec quality with modular power cables.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I have three of these in use and not had a single problem. Works fine in my main rig with a 95 W AMD processor, HD 6850, 3 hard drives, and one optical drive.

5 out of 5 eggsIt led a good life

Pros: Good value for price, stable for years

Cons: Not modular

Other Thoughts: At just shy of 5 years this PSU is giving up the ghost. I just upgraded my wife's machine from a Q6600/p45 board, 6GB DDR2 800, GTX 285 to an i5-2690/Z97, 8GB DDR3 1600, GTC 760 system. I noticed an odd, almost squeaking sound coming from the computer. Testing each of the fans, I found none of them being the culprit. Loading the manufacturers monitoring software, I found the PSU showing 12.02V at idle, and dropping to 11.8 under load. Time to replace it, but I'm still happy that it warned me before failing.

5 out of 5 eggsLong lasting, pretty good

Pros: Long lasting, no issues

Cons: Low wattage

Other Thoughts: This power supply powered an overclocked AMD Phenom II x4, discrete graphics card, and all manner of extras for 4 years before I retired it. It is still working. I have never had a power issue with it.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This PSU has lasted me for more about 2 and a half years now and has been working wonderfully. It's not that loud and has powered my AMD Athlon X4 640, 450 GTS and my 16GB RAM for my very minor video editing, normal usage and gaming. It also has space for you to add extra cables if you need like another PCI cable for example.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsGrr8!

Pros: Clean design and make, very versatile, no nonsense install went perfectly and it is doing it's job admirably.
Appears to have a lot of power to spare. Fan runs quietly and unobtrusively.

Cons: None, zero zilch!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Lasted 4 years

Cons: Lasted 4 years

Other Thoughts: This was a good solid PSU. It finally bit the dust and I had to replace it. Wish it would have lasted a bit longer and I would buy nothing but Antec. I went Corsair second time around.
