5 out of 5 eggsEverything you could need in a 850w

This review is from: XFX Core Edition PRO850W (P1-850S-NLB9) 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Bronze Certified.
Great look.
SLI Ready.

Cons: Non modular.

Other Thoughts: This power supply does not disappoint. What you sacrifice in being Modular is made up for in price, extremely cheap compared to most of the 850w PSU on the market from a good brand. It's SLI ready with enough 6/8 pin connections to satisfy two GTX 980ti's.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for the great review! We are happy you are pleased.

5 out of 5 eggsBest bang for the buck power supply made by SeaSonic

This review is from: XFX Core Edition PRO850W (P1-850S-NLB9) 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: - SeaSonic power supply with XFX branding
- 850w
- Quiet
- 4x 6+2 Pin PCI-E's
- Heavy and sturdy feeling
- Nice packaging
- Received rebate within 1-2 months

Cons: - Doesn't lay eggs (ha, newegg jokes.)
- Not silver/bronze/platinum/titanium but that really doesn't matter considering it's SeaSonic, which pretty much guarantees the wattage it says it produces
- I tried frying an egg on it, didn't work (more newegg jokes. Or.. yokes? hurhur.)
- 4+4 pin for CPU, while that's nice for systems that only use 4 pins, it's a pain to have them stay together long enough inside the case to install them.
- CPU connector is a bit short, but still worked for a mid-tower.

Other Thoughts: Long cables. Except the CPU power connector. It will definitely reach if you direct it straight across the front of a full-tower case, but I can't guarantee anything if you try to route it around the back. Of course, if there's a universal position for the motherboard between mid tower and full tower, you should have no issues. If the CPU power doesn't fit just get an extension. Or make one. That works too.

Again, it doesn't lay eggs. I bought this because I thought it was a chicken. I guess that's my fault though.

1 out of 5 eggsXFX used to be better

This review is from: XFX Core Edition PRO850W (P1-850S-NLB9) 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Worked for about 5 weeks

Cons: Died after 5 weeks, replaced with 550w so you know it's not overloaded.

Other Thoughts: Stay away, having purchased xfx video cards in the past I expected MUCH better build quality from this PSU.

4 out of 5 eggsLots o' Cables

This review is from: XFX Core Edition PRO850W (P1-850S-NLB9) 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I installed this in a new system I built for gaming. AMD Radeon said it needed some juice, so after psu sizing calcs netted me upper 700's I went with this. New Egg/XFX had a rebate that made this a steal. Can't hear it at all, All functioning as a PSU should. Looks sweet!

Cons: Not Modular, and Lots o Cables. I knew that when I bought it, the price with rebate made me buy it anyway, but Man its a lot of cables to get out of the way for airflow. Because there were so many cables, I broke one of the sata connectors by pulling too hard on it, while it was connected to my HD. I was trying to get the cables contained. That sucked. And I didn't want a chance of any contacts shorting out, so I had to trim the sata power cable back and insulate the wires, so now I have an electrical tape covered cable end. Luckily That actually made it easy to tuck into a case spot, but still was a bit unhappy about that. If it was modular like I normally use that wouldn't have happened.. But again I knew that going in.

Other Thoughts: I just mailed out the rebate form the end of last week, so hopefully processing that won't take too long. 4 Stars since I did have a connector break on me during installation. (even though I was the cause, though I hardly consider this misuse/abuse)

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent!

This review is from: XFX Core Edition PRO850W (P1-850S-NLB9) 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: 850w with 70A to the +12v Rail.
Seasonic platform.
Great for overclocking and gaming!
Quiet fan

Cons: No complaints
It's not modular but knew that, so no egg taken.

Other Thoughts: Great deal, got it on shell shocker. Now it's powering my 760k @ 4.6 ghz with r9 280.

Pros: Looked well built with plenty of connectors

Cons: dead

Other Thoughts: Unit was Dead on Arrival. Shipping back and buying a Corsair instead.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU for a great price!!!

This review is from: XFX Core Edition PRO850W (P1-850S-NLB9) 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I had to get another PSU because my other 500 watt PSU was crashing my computer. I'm glad I got this one. The cables are amazing and slick.

Cons: My only problem is that i couldnt fit all of my cables in my computer. IF YOU HAVE A MID TOWER MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ROOM! DONT BE LIKE ME. I still found space but it looks really messy.

Other Thoughts: GREAT PSU

3 out of 5 eggsUnsure how to feel about it.

This review is from: XFX Core Edition PRO850W (P1-850S-NLB9) 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: It looks great and kinda works for most of what i need it for. The price and rebate are freakin awesome too.

Cons: So,i have this thing attached to a MSI X99A SLI Plus with a 5820k,Corsair H105,XFX Radeon R9 390 ,6 hard drives (2 SSD),7 120mm fans and 16gb (4x4) Corsair Vengeance 2400.

The problem is that when i put all the memory in (in quad channel config) the machine will boot but there's no video. When i take 2 sticks out and put it in dual config it boots just fine.

So,i contacted MSI and they said that it's 99.9% likely that the problem is the PSU. Even though it's 850 watts and more than enough to push everything. I've noticed that all the fans won't spin up on boot. Sometimes i have to give them a little nudge to get 'em going.
(Also,it seems to have trouble when i put in a USB thumb drive and gives me some kind of weird message about power that i've never seen before)

Other Thoughts: So,what say you XFX? I know you guys make quality stuff and your customer service has always been top notch. So what's the deal? Is it the PSU in your opinion and if so,should i go ahead and start the RMA process? I'm kinda *expletive deleted* without a PSU for weeks though. Help me XFX,you're my only hope! (lulz)

P.S- Once we get this this all figured out i'll be more than happy to re-review.

Manufacturer Response:

Hey Dan,

We're sorry you are having issues with your new rig. Unfortunately it doesn't sound like a PSU issue. The extra power needed by the PSU for 2 extra sticks of ram isnt enough to push it over the top at post. It sounds like a RAM slot or a piece of ram is causing the failure. Let us know what else you have tried.

Please contact for phone support for quick troubleshooting at 800 880 3225, or email me at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com. I am certain we can get it figured out very quickly.
