1 out of 5 eggswas great then fan became loud

Pros: Started out great and quiet

Cons: After only 3 months the fan suddenly appears to be stuck on full throttle and is very loud. This is the same problem others have reported recently. I tried powering down for the night but that makes no difference. My system only draws 300-400 watts.

Other Thoughts: On top of that the online serial number registration does not work AND the serial number is on the back so I had to take the supply out of the case just to register for service. If you require the serial number for service you should put it somewhere visible and make sure the registration process works! Very frustrating experience so far.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggs"Silent" Pro M

Pros: 1000 Watts
Black Cables
Modular

Cons: Is much louder than my old 500W PSU (I'm thinking about switching back because of this)
The only part of my computer that I can hear is the PSU, and from day 1 I was unhappy with my purchase; however, since I was building two computers at the time and getting ready to leave for college, I did not have the time to return the unit.
It's amazing how cheap this fan is. At this point, I almost ready to open it up myself to replace the fan, but the "warranty" is holding me back. Seriously, why does no PSU vendor let you change the fan? It's the LOUDEST 120mm fan I have ever experienced.

Other Thoughts: SUGGESTION: use more than a $2 fan for a product priced over $100, please.

Manufacturer Response:

Good Afternoon James,

I apologize your PSU fan is not up to your satisfaction as sound is subjective to every user. I have noted and communicated your constructive criticism and feedback. The reason PSU manufacturers do not let you change out the fans is to ensure the safety of all our users as it's possible tampering with the electronics and power wiring can cause life threatening damage.

I look forward to your response through our CM Fanzone Live Chat, Support Ticket, or Phones.

Regards,
Felinni M.

2 out of 5 eggsWill not recommend

Pros: 1000W - handles power demands on system just fine

Modular Design - Not the best but not bad, does help to limit the number of unnecessary power cables to organize in the case

Cons: This PSU started out great, but after about 4 months of use the fan noise on this PSU is off the chart. They titled this CPU the "Silent Pro" but it should have been titled, "Probably the loudest PSU you'll ever own!"

Other Thoughts: For the first few months of use the PSU was very silent. Out of the blue one day the fan noise on my system got extremely loud, it would come and go was hard to track down. During one night of use the fan noise got loud and stayed loud, I was able to get all of the panels off my case and did something I would not recommend. I systematically went through every fan on the system. I started with the front three intake fans and placed pressure against them to get them to stop moving, then proceeded to the fans on my radiator for my water-cooled heat sink, GPU fan, rear fan, after stopping each fan systematically I could not find the fan that was making the noise. At this point I turned the case on it's side so I could get my ear nearer to the intake for the PSU which by design is on the bottom of my NZXT H440 case. BINGO! The noise from this fan was off the charts. I have never heard a PSU generate this much noise in any system that I have worked on in my 20 years of experience.

I would highly recommend buying just about any other PSU before you consider this one. The noise from this PSU is louder than any other PSU I have ever bought and none of them claimed to be "Silent", if you're looking for quiet, find another solution.

2 out of 5 eggsI can not hear my computer over the fan...

Pros: It handles the load. Modular design really helps.

Cons: It only lasted about 19 months before it got EXTREMLY loud. I have to wear headphones when I use my computer now. Since it is over 1 year, Newegg can not help me. I went to the CoolerMaster web page and in order to get tech help I have to agree to give them either my facebook info which as they state "includes my friends information as well". Or I can give them my google+ personal information. Honestly people, I just want tech help on why this power unit fan is loud!

Other Thoughts: My wife is mad at how loud this thing is.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy!

Pros: This is a excellent PSU to buy. Silent, powerful and plenty of slots for cables. Modulars a plus. Works as promised.

Cons: No cons so far and had it for two years. Still running great.

5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong three years later.

Pros: Delivers excellent voltage over all rails. Fan runs quiet. A great value for the price.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I purchased two of these bad boys from a local computer and electronics store three and half years ago because they were on sale (sorry Newegg!) and they're still rockin' to the beat. When Cooler Master's engineers designed and built this unit they threw down.

For the price you will not find a better unit; it's that good. Voltage across all rails is quite good and it powers my 4GB GTX 770s with plenty of juice to spare. Get it while the gettin's good!

5 out of 5 eggs2+ years old and still rockin

Pros: Its been running continously since purchased without even a slight hiccup. The 12V rail typically measures 11.99 - 12.01V, 5V usually at 4.98, and 3.3V at 3.31.

Can't argue with that.

Cons: Fan bearing is getting a little noisy, but a little cleaning and greasing quiets it right down. What do you expect after 2 years continous operation?

Other Thoughts: Awesomely silent

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,

We appreciate your feedback on this review. Please do let us know if the fan on the unit keeps giving you trouble, we would be more than happy to replace the power supply unit if the issue persists.

Respectfully,

3 out of 5 eggsWas a great PSU.

Pros: Loved this PSU when when it worked. Handled everything I threw at it. It's quite.

Cons: Died after only about 6 months of use(9 days short of 6 months)

Other Thoughts: Should have went with a gold certified.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We sincerely apologize for the trouble you had with our power supply. Given that it failed, we can definitely replace it under the 5 year warranty it carries. Would you be able to contact us so we can replace the power supply and rectify the situation?

5 out of 5 eggsLPG975

Pros: This is the best PSU I have ever used, and I have used A LOT of PSUs. I currently have two rigs that use this PSU.

One has been using it for over a year with no issues.
That rig has:
Cooler Master Sniper case
ASRock Z77
16GB Mushkin Enhanced Blackline
2x Evga GTX 670 2GB
2x Intel 120GB SSD in a raid configuration
1x Western Digital Caviar Green 2TB
Antec Kuhler 920

The other build is about three months old and this PSU went dead after about a month. Newegg, as usual, had stellar customer service and replaced the it in a timely manner.
That rig has:
Antec Nine Hundred
ASRock Z87 Extreme4
Intel Core i5-4670K
Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 16GB
Mushkin Enhanced Chronos MKNSSDCR240GB
2 x EVGA GTX 770 2GB

Cons: Other than the second PSU dying on me, no problems. I understand that it was just defective and this kind of stuff happens.

Other Thoughts: If you need an absurdly powerful and stable PSU that is also silent, buy this!

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Great look. Sleek, black, almost completely modular (Two 4+4pin CPU cables and a 20+4pin Motherboard Power cable being the only non-modular ones). Good specs, 12v rail can handle up to 80amps on it.

Cons: So, I had high hopes for this power supply. It wasn't my first choice, but it was $100 cheaper, had great reviews, and I know Cooler Master is a pretty solid company.

First power supply, DOA. Okay, I understand this happens. I popped in my old power supply, everything worked fine, and I RMA'd the dead PSU.

Second power supply (replaced by another BRAND NEW power supply) DOA.

Maybe it was a bad batch that went through, but two brand new PSU's arrived DOA. For $180, I kind of expect things to work. I didn't even get my case fans to twitch upon trying to power up. The only indicator I had was the lights on my LAN would blink once.

Other Thoughts: I have used Cooler Master cases and heatsinks before, and am currently using a Seidon 240M water cooler. I know Cooler Master has reliable components, which is why I gave this power supply 2 eggs (not to mention the build quality was excellent). But this slip up was...disappointing. I will be biting the bullet and going with my first choice in power supply (new german company that recently started distributing in North America) and staying away from Cooler Master Power Supplies from now on.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear valued customer,
I'm very sorry for the troubles you've encountered. Do not hesitate to contact us directly regarding any issues you may encounter with our products so that we can assist you.

Regards,
CMUSA Support
