This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 TR-500 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI CrossFire Power Supply
Pros: I have this in a small Silverstone HTPC case tucked into a media stand. This this powers everything properly and doesn't get too hot.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: came with a Thermaltake rebate that was delivered faster than any other mail-in rebate I have ever gotten. Kudos to them.

Rating: 2/5Smoked when turned on
This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 TR-500 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI CrossFire Power Supply
Pros: Was good price - nice cables
Cons: Burned the first time plugged in but partially worked.
Other Thoughts: First turned on the unit it had a burnt smell, however, the computer worked, so thought it was just a resistor that got hot and had a new electronic hot smell. However, eventually the unit would not turn on. Checking voltages showed it had the voltages but the mainboard would not power up. This power supply was large enough to power the mainboard, harddrive, and the graphics card.
Also, it seems that I never have the correct documentation to get any rebates that I should get, so I have decided not to purchase any more products that have a mail in rebate attached. If its not an instant rebate then I do not consider the product, just not worth the time and hassle.
I replaced the product with a Cooler Master 550W unit that has worked perfectly.

Rating: 1/53 out of 5 fail so far on 335W load
This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 TR-500 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI CrossFire Power Supply
Pros: None I can think of except it sometimes works okay if you keep the load below 250 Watts
Cons: It cost more than many others that perform better.. The failure rate is terrible and getting worse. No sleeving on wiring. HIGH Failure Rate at above 50% load. Poor RMA service.
Other Thoughts: Haven't had a fan go bad yet... but I sent two early failures RMA. for repair and they sent them back never having opened the boxes saying I didn't provide proof of ownership.
Well, the Newegg Invoice was printed out and a copy was placed in each shipping box (that they didn't open). Now, I have to send them back again plus a third failed unit.
Keep in mind, these are over a year old now but only used a total of about 4 months each.
Manufacturer Response:
Dear Customer,
We at Thermaltake would like to apologize for the negative exprecience you have received with our service.
All RMA packages received by our warehouse are opened to verify the product and if an invoice is enclosed. If the invoice was provided to a customer service representative prior to shipping the defective unit, the representative will jot down an internal note, stating that a receipt/invoice was already received and not needed to be enclosed within the package.
The RMA Department will hold units that are missing an invoice for 3 to 4 weeks. Emails are sent to the customer the day of receiving, and once every week after. If no response was given, the RMA Department will send back the package.
Please contact Customer service by phone at your earliest convenience. Speaking with a representative will allow him/her to make sure you will not run into this issue again. The representative will request that you email him/her the invoices for each unit, so that there will no longer be any delay with your RMA.

Rating: 5/5Great for low budget build
This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 TR-500 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI CrossFire Power Supply
Pros: Low price if on sale, works good. Good cables, and plenty of connectors.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Purchased for $40, with a $20 MiR. 500W is enough power for a higher end video card.

Rating: 1/5Dead On Arrival
This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 TR-500 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI CrossFire Power Supply
Pros: None
Cons: Didn't work right out of the box. Yes, I did properly connect any and all power supplies to the board. Totally dead. Not sure if this was just a fluke or what but won't be bothering with any more Thermaltake products. Not worth the hassle of paying for return shipping for refund.
Manufacturer Response:
Dear Customer, We at Thermaltake apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We can replace it through warranty service. When you call or email, please inform the representative that this was a recent purchase.

Rating: 5/5Great PS
This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 TR-500 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI CrossFire Power Supply
Pros: This thing has more connectors than any PS I have ever owned. Two 6P for video, 4 SATA, 4 PATA. Black. No LED's. Long cables that are nicely sleeved. Snagged on sale for $44.99
Cons: Fan is audible, but not loud. Not modular. Not free.
Other Thoughts: Mounted in an NmediaPC 6000b ATX HTPC case. The fan is the loudest in the case, but my 7.1 Receiver covers it up.

Rating: 5/5Thermaltake TR-500 PSU
This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 TR-500 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI CrossFire Power Supply
Pros: I bought this powersupply back in the beginning of December of 2013. Along with this PSU i bought an Asus AMD Radeon R9 270 graphics card. This powersupply has NEVER let me down. No loud noises like other reviews say, and works 110%. I paid i believe $49 for it? Maybe cheaper. Very impressed with this PSU.
Cons: None at all!

Rating: 5/5Suddenly very loud
This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 TR-500 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI CrossFire Power Supply
Pros: Amazing PSU. The 500 watt version is enough to power my medium gaming rig. It's very quiet even under stress.
I haven't had any issues with it till now.
Cons: A few months into use it suddenly starts to sound like a small engine, like a lawn mower.. It's nerve racking.. I have checked it with a flashlight for anything hitting the fan. It is fastened in snugly. And it's not vibrating. I have no idea why it is doing this, I have't had any hardware changes.
Other Thoughts: Besides the fan noise issue I had. This is a great little PSU. I would suggest it to anyone looking to build their own machine.
Manufacturer Response:
Dear Customer, Please contact Customer Service if you feel that the noise level is not acceptable, as we can replace it through warranty service.
