4 out of 5 eggsgood unit .... not silent.

Pros: * Powerful
* Modular
* High Quality Construction
* Flat Modular Cables
* Compact Size

Cons: * Not Silent. Audible. Can get loud when gaming.
* UGLY decals... truly painful to look at :p

Other Thoughts: need a power supply for a friend.
Personally only purchase Corsair AX series.
they are the best. period. have owned 6 total.
passed down to friends over the years as i upgraded.
Each is still going strong.

Friend had an Ultra X3 1000watt that died
he wanted something quick.
Best buy was our only local option for 'same day' acquisition.
(yes, friend was unwilling to wait for shipping)

This Thermaltake 850 is powerful, modular, high quality construction.
good reviews on Best Buy and Newegg.
Very capable unit that is well designed... EXCEPT...
My only complaint is noise level.
the fan is never truly silent. always audible.
during gaming the unit gets loud if stressed.
Currently loudest component in case.
Of my personal 6 Corsair AX units never heard one... ever.
Even when running SLI and Crossfire.

This unit gets the job done and makes few compromises.
Just be aware the fan is audible...
oh, and the decals are UGLY! :p

Worth the asking price at Best Buy... BUT...
here on newegg would spend a little extra and get the AX750 instead.

1 out of 5 eggsSour apples

Pros: Suppose to be a new and improved series from Thermaltake.
Its big and heavy which is always a good thing for a psu. It has a nice paint job and has been pack very securely in its box, and is also semi modular which i prefer ackully.

Cons: Lasted one month. There was no warning sighs of psu failure either.

Other Thoughts: First Thermaltake psu I ever bought, which i payed full retail at a local store. Even though my friends told me horror storys about thermaltake psu i thought na this model is bran new. Moral of the story is, if you have the money by a psu made by seasonic.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi DarkBazerker,
We at Thermaltake apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. We can replace it through warranty service. Please contact our customer service team for RMA instructions.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Good PSU

Pros: Runs Cool
Sufficient Cabling
Installs easily
Better PSU than most

Cons: Non-Modular Cabling short

Other Thoughts: Gave it 4 eggs because it's so new, hasn't gone the long run.

My video card, ati radeon 7870 runs better. Comes with a fair supply of modular cabling.

I have a Lian Li case with a bottom mounted PSU. The non-modular installed cables just barely reach in my build.

I cannot detect "spikes" in operation, such as in the PSU I replaced, which actually eventually exploded.

I really like this PSU, I am running an engineering and graphics workstation, with the AMD FX 8150 and 16 gigs ram. Underpowered units just don't cut it.

There is plenty of headroom on power here, so the heat transfer (if any) is no object. My case and cpu cooler move so much air the computer should last.

I recommend this PSU for brand reliability, seat of the pants testing, runs ice cold, no hiccups and is just fine.

I will rewrite if any problems. Better to "Oversize" your PSU!

5 out of 5 eggsNice power supply

Pros: Works great. Has plenty of power ports. Runs relatively quiet. Not really loading it much yet but it fired right up with no problems. Received from Newegg 2 days after ordering it.

Cons: Fan has a little noise to it but nothing to worry about.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Quiet fan, all the cables you need, CrossFire ready.

Cons: Thermaltake declined my rebate saying a copy of my receipt was missing when I clearly remember stapling my rebate receipt on the form. I wouldn't trust them with rebates.

Other Thoughts: No eggs for customer service. Tried resubmitting rebate claim with another copy of receipt and no response.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU

Pros: -Modular
-SLi and Crossfire Ready.
-Comes with Case to hold unused cables
-HEAVY!

Cons: -8 pin ATX cable isnt exactly the longest cable ive seen. But im not going to detuct an egg for that. I havent owned a PSU with one long enough.

Other Thoughts: Very nice power supply. Needed a replacement for a Corsair unit that died within a month. I decided to look at thermaltake and havent regretted it. Plenty of cables and the modular design is nice for management. It powers my system nicely and smoothly. Havent see any voltage issues. Will have no problem powering the additional HDD and GPU i have on order. Another great product from the fellas at Newegg!

Current Setup:
-AMD FX-6100 3.3ghz 6 core overclocked to 3.8ghz
-Cooler Master Seidon 120m AIO Liquid Cooler

-Corsair 120gb SSD

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Flawless installation. Great flat modular cables. This is powering an i7 3820 @ 4.3 Ghz, ASUS Rampage IV Gene, 8 GB (soon to be 16GB) G-Skill Sniper 1866, and 2 HD5770's in crossfire @x16x16.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggshigh quality power supply

Pros: Modular with all the bells and whistles. So far very stable and reliable power, using with i7 Ivy bridge CPU, Blu-ray burner, 4 hard drives, power hungry video card. Vinyl case to keep all the extra unused cables organized.

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible.

Pros: Mostly Modular (20+4 pin connector doesn't disconnect, but why wouldn't you use it?), plugs in easily.

Cons: I plugged it into my system for more available power, it surged, and friend my motherboard. No help was offered for my struggles, besides a refund. I had to replace everything broken through my own wallet.

Other Thoughts: I returned it, and got the exact same one (after getting my new components), and it works fine. I'm unsatisfied with the support I got after it destroyed my system. I gave the psu one egg due to the surging (turned on and off rapidly).

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Kyle, you stated that you were only offered a refund which means that you had more than likely dealt with Newegg Customer Service which is within their terms and conditions. If you have any issues in the future like this please make sure to contact Thermaltake Customer Service directly because we have protocols set in place as a manufacturer to help resolve issues like this. We deeply apologize.
