Pros: Great PS, Still Working hard after 30+ months.
Still as silent as the day I started using it.
Minimal cleaning has kept it looking brand new.

Cons: None that I have run into.

4 out of 5 eggsOnly 3 PCIE Connectors

Pros: Pros... Well it's not huge and the modular connectors are nice. Had a memory problem with last power supply and no memory problems with this power supply.

Cons: Only has 3 PCIE connectors. Why 3? You would think if newegg was selling it as a combo for crossfire they would make sure it had the necessary connectors and not just count on the video card to have molex adapters when this PSU has the ability to have 4 PCIE with an extra adapter.
I need 4 for crossfire. Has 2 6 pin PCIE connectors and one 8 pin. Used supplied 8 to 6 pin adapter and spliced an extra 6 pin from my old power supply to make a total of 4. Works with no issues.

Other Thoughts: Buy an 8 pin to dual 6 pin adapter if you want to use crossfire or SLI instead of using molex adapters.

5 out of 5 eggsexcelent

Pros: Working great 2.5 years later. This is the only component from my very first computer i build that i still own till this day. Excelent psu. Great with Modular and fairly high power for how old it is.

Cons: Suprised the cost hasnt come down more in the past 2 years. I guess you are paying for good quality that will last you. Cables dont get "loose" after time, they are still stiff, but it's able to take the wear and tear of bending, so dont worry about moving them around enough for them to fit

Other Thoughts: Pleased with my purchase so long ago. Will definatly buy a thermaltake psu for my next psu. This thing is still kickin it with my overclocked E8400 overclocked from 3.0 to 4.1GHz. No problems whatsoever

1 out of 5 eggsThe power rating is a lie

Pros: * Removable cables
* Quiet fan

Cons: * Inflated power ratings
* Low power output
* Poor customer service (thermaltake)

Other Thoughts: I bought one of these about a year ago to replace my 550w Antec. After upgrading my video card, I found that my computer would shut off in the middle of games. I put in my old Antec and the problem went away. I RMAed the Thermaltake power supply and got one back that had the same problem. The power ratings claimed on the Thermaltake are completely made up.

The system in question was a E6300 Core 2 duo with one HDD and a GeForce 9800GTX+.

After this experience, I never intend to purchase another Thermaltake product, nor do I recommend anyone else do.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We are extremely sorry about the experience with the power supply. Thermaltake stands behind the products that we make 100% and would like to ask you to contact our Customer Service to replace your defective product.
In addition, all Thermaltake power supplies are continuous power meaning that the wattage that you see is the power it will produce.
Again, we do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caussed you and we look forward to hear from you.

Thermaltake Customer Service.

1 out of 5 eggsRan great until it started making a terrible noise

Pros: Plug and play is a great feature. Tons of adapters. Little clutter. Lots of power. Accomplished everything I wanted from a PSU.

Cons: PSU makes an awful sound now during normal operation. Extremely loud noise when powering up my system. Sounds almost as if a fan inside is going or hitting a wire, however sometimes the noise will go away. I have to put my TV to drown out the noise and turn the computer off when I go to bed.

I tried to sign-up on the Thermaltake forums, however I never received the activation email. Last time I tried to sign-up again, the forums were down.

Other Thoughts: Wish I had some way to RMA the item without jumping through hoops.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect!

Pros: Has been running almost 24/7 for about 3 years straight now. First year on an E660 with a 7800gtx. Next two with a E8400 and two 9800GTXs. No problems at all. OC'd the E8400 to 3.6GHz and ran Prime95 for a week straight while I went on vacation and came back to it still running..

Cons: Didn't ship for free..

2 out of 5 eggsI thought it was good...

Pros: Until about 3 months ago it worked great, not a single problem

Cons: Now being a year and 3months after I bought this PSU, If I do not severely under clock my GPU my computer will shutoff, this happens both with a 9800gtx and a 260gtx, so If you have either you might not want this PSU

Pros: 700W, modular cable connections (mostly). This is my second modular PSU and it is great to keep clutter out of your case.

Cons: Its large. The 8-pin PCIe power connection is not removable, and the extension makes routing two cables for my GTX260 difficult. I ended up not using it at all and running the two 6-pin cables b/c they are the same length.

Other Thoughts: If you put it in a mini tower case, there will not be much room between the end of the PSU and the back of the optical drives. The fix would be to get a larger case (which I was going to do anyway). :)

3 out of 5 eggsDefective fan ruins the unit

Pros: Lots of power and has great 12v rail specs. Modular cabling is wonderful in reducing cable chaos and lessening the clutter that can mess with your airflow. Plenty of cables and connectors to power even a full tower that is completely filled. The 20+4 main pin ensures every modern day MOBOS can be powered by this thing. Black mirror finish looks wonderful in a black case with clear side panel. Initially was VERY quiet, see cons on what happened later. Package comes with a UPC label that can be pealed off and sent in for rebates allowing you to keep the original UPC on the box. Additional built in 8-pin PCI cable will help in powering those new GPUs without the use of a 6-pin to 8-pin adapter; Thermaltake (Tt) does include an 8-pin to 6-pin adapter so you can use it for older GPUs as well. Tt RMA process was great. The process was completed within 5 working days and shipped back within a week.

Cons: The SATA power cables have very little space between each connection; plan on using two modular cables or keeping drives as close as possible if you only use one. 8-pin CPU cord is not suited to be used in cases that house the PSU on the bottom and a MB that has a high plug. Invest in at least a 12” 8-pin extension cord for this kind of set-up to reduce the strain. After three months of use I noticed a rather loud rattle coming from the PC. After turning off every fan I found the rattle coming from the PSU. Some research online turned up that this was a commonly known defect and had to be RMA’d through Tt to fix it. A completely new PSU was sent and worked silently for 3 days. The same rattle sound came back again the 4th day, just not as frequent. Tt was contacted and they offered to RMA a third time and would pay for shipping both ways. If the rattling increases I’ll RMA once more. Another defective unit and I'll buy from a vendor other than Tt.

Other Thoughts: This PSU has a lot to offer and it’s a shame that the defective fan is still being shipped out in many units. It’s possible this model was not designed for use in cases that house the PSU on the bottom (eg the Antec 900 series). Tt would not comment if this was a possibility. If your fan does rattle you can try wearing headphones, turning up the speakers or TV and try to ignore it, but none of that will work as the rattle is just to flippin loud. Currently running with a BIOSTAR TPower I45, Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ stock speed w/ a Zalman CNPS9500AT, OCZ Platinum 4GB DDR2 1066, SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 3870 @ stock speeds, Seagate Barracuda 320GB, SAMSUNG 22X DVD Burner, with Windows Vista Home Basic 64-bit in an Antec Nine Hundred.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Power Supply

Pros: I have more than one of these and no problems to date. They run cool and quiet, as they should.

Cons: I would like to see more than but two SATA cables with three connectors each , as you would have to use an adapter from the "peripheral connector" cable to SATA, if you want to install more than three SATA hard drives and also a SATA DVD player/burner or two. One of the two supplied "peripheral connector" cables may be superfluous' for most users today.
