4 out of 5 eggsit works...

This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 W0070 430W ATX12V v2.3 Power Supply

Pros: gets the job done. working strong still after 10 years. but it's a low end desktop, not very demanding. probably 200w at most. but if you want to pull heavy loads, this psu won't be good enough.

Cons: it's not the best quality build wise. but it'll get the job done

1 out of 5 eggsordered 9/15, dead 2/16 - not even 6 months use out of it, beware

This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 W0070 430W ATX12V v2.3 Power Supply

Pros: none really, the unit didn't last 6 months, i have about 15 el-cheapo no-name power supplies running in business machines that are going on 4 years old... there is no excuse why a "brand name" should fail so quick, the system is very low power, 1 intel cpu, 84 watt, 1 ssd drive, 1 dvd burner, and 2 fans, its definitely not a power hog

Cons: lasted 5 months...

5 out of 5 eggsBeen on 24/7 for 2 years.

This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 W0070 430W ATX12V v2.3 Power Supply

Pros: I have this running in my server that stays on 24/7. It has been on for over 2 years and no issues yet. It powers 2 4tb hdds, 1 3tb, 1 1tb, & a 32gb ssd. Also a AMD A8-5500.

Cons: Cables are long. small cases is an issue, big cases not so much

3 out of 5 eggsGood basic PSU

This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 W0070 430W ATX12V v2.3 Power Supply

Pros: Low cost (after discount & rebate).
Fan is very quiet.
OK for basic low end PC
Has plenty of SATA and IDE power plugs

Cons: Older technology non PFC power supply.
Doesn't even meet 80% Bronze efficiency level.
Doesn't fit a Dell Optiplex 960 mid tower due to the AC plug location.
Rebate says it will take 8-10 weeks (but you can get it in 1 week if you give up $1)

Other Thoughts: It's a very basic power supply painted black to look modern. Although the power supply feels heavy I would say half the weight comes from the wire harness meaning the power supply itself is rather lite weight and therefore uses small heatsinks and magnetics. General rule of thumb is cheap lite weight power supplies are usually junk.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
Because most of name brand computers are using proprietary technology in their system. We are strongly suggesting customer to contact the manufacturer before purchase any upgrade or replacement parts.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 W0070 430W ATX12V v2.3 Power Supply

Pros: I have bought about 5 of these over the past few years and they have all been great. I have been running two together for a few years and it handled SLI GTX480s with no problems. I would definitely recommend for a lower end system that does not have a power hungry GPU (unless you are going to use two like I did).

Cons: Contains no bacon

Other Thoughts: The available PCI-e connectors were somewhat limited for my system, but this is something you know before you buy.

4 out of 5 eggslike a charm

This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 W0070 430W ATX12V v2.3 Power Supply

Pros: It has plenty of power for my old computer and works perfectly

Cons: not enough power for my new build and it's not modular or simi-modular

Other Thoughts: I bought this at my local Best Buy to replace the PSU that died in my HP Pavilion media center a1357c running win 7. I had running for 2 1/2 months and either the mobo or CPU died now the new mobo and CPU take over 200w of the 430 and i still need a graphics card. I'm hoping the new board will fit the old tower because I don't have enough for a new tower in my budgit

4 out of 5 eggsRebate is a lie

This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 W0070 430W ATX12V v2.3 Power Supply

Pros: The power supply works really well.
Hope it will last at least 3 years.

Cons: Rebate never arrived, never heard back from the company, thermaltake is the oppsosite of Newegg. You can't trust them.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks fine

This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 W0070 430W ATX12V v2.3 Power Supply

Pros: More than enough connections for a basic home PC with limited gaming

Relatively quiet (although this is the loudest component on my PC)

Cons: Some of the Molex/SATA connections on the same cable are just tad too close together in some instances and need to use the second cable, but that could just be how I have things set up.

Other Thoughts: Been in use since December of 2014 and no hiccups at all.
