4 out of 5 eggsDoes the job

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-1000AE 1000W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: So far it does the job. Been in 2 builds so far and hasn't hiccuped once. I like it.

Cons: Raidmax has a bad rep for failing power supplys. I'm a bit worried that if it fails, it'll take a component out with it, but it hasn't yet. And if it does fail, I lost my receipt and proof of purchase for my warranty on it.

Other Thoughts: At this price, it's a decent power supply. Would I buy another Raidmax? Maybe, depending if this one fails, or short circuits something. I mean if it fails, it fails, anything mechanical are subject to faiure, but Raidmax has a bigger history than any other brand.

Pros: PSU Powered up all components.

Cons: Screeching High Pitch /Coil Whine. RMA cost 30$ to ship. 9/12/2014

1 out of 5 eggsBeware of RAIDMAX Rebates

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-1000AE 1000W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I like the unit. Seems to work fine

Cons: RAIDMAX is notorious for dragging out the rebate process. NEWEGG on the other hand, processes on a great turnaround time-frame. Please, Newegg, work with this supplier to achieve a better rebate process.

2 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasted

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-1000AE 1000W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Powered my system while it could quite and functional modular design had a good implementation and shipping box was cool.

Cons: The unit died which was honestly kind of expected. Given that independent tests of the unit almost all of them came in at 80+Bronze with high voltage ripple. But hey I needed one cheap.

Other Thoughts: The unit died a little over a year of usage. The system specs are as follows.
CPU: Intel 4770k
MOBO:Gigabyte UD3H
GPU:XFX 290X (Vanilla)
RAM: 24GB Avexir Core 1600mhz
HDD: 1x SSD 4X HDD 2TB+
ODD:1x

from the wall my killowatt meter read around 600 under a decent load at 1080P The problem started one day with the system rails measuring 11.4v from a fluke meter. About a month later the system stopped posting correctly shutting off half way through post. Temperatures were fine and a new motherboard ruled out the issue when it kept happening. about a week or 2 after the start of the half posts (the system would always fully boot the second time) the system started to simply shut off idling at the desktop with infrequent results. sometimes it would last an hour other times 2 hours but never more. These events continued and grew in frequency until I finally decided to get a new until before it got bad. Take this review for what you will but an independent search will show you it isnt nearly as uncommon or unlikely as you may think.

1 out of 5 eggsNice Outside, Inside...ehhh...

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-1000AE 1000W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: -Stylish
-Quiet
-High Max power
(80+ Bronze in actuality but still efficient)

Cons: -12v rail not stable enough to run a SINGLE GTX 780 without major crashing issues
-Cannot run any 3D game/program without crashing

Other Thoughts: Works well enough to get into windows, but as soon as a load is put on it (PCIE) It cannot handle it and windows crashes

5 out of 5 eggsnice PS

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-1000AE 1000W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: 1000 watts, Quiet, modular, price,

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: I have this for 6 months now. Sitting in my HAF 922 on the table right next to me and it is quiet. It powers my Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 board w/AMD 9370 overclocked to 5 GHZ water cooled w/CM Seidon 240 in a push/pull config 16GB Crucial DDR3/1866 ram and an ATI R9 270X. And 2/200mm,1/20mm and1/140mm fans too. Never any problems. matter of fact I am going to get another one for my son's PC upgrade....:)

4 out of 5 eggsVery Effecient, Good Price, Only 2 Year Warranty

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-1000AE 1000W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I was pleasantly surprised with this PSU. It pulls alot less power from the wall than many bronze certified PSUs. 3, count em, 3 pairs of pci-e is a great selling point. I got this for around $70 after the sale price and rebates, for a gold certified 1000w can you ask for a better price?

Cons: Took off one egg because the warranty is shorter than most other brands for this PSU. Does that imply something about its longevity? Perhaps. Otherwise great PSU great buy

Other Thoughts: If you can get this for anywhere near $100, do it!
