5 out of 5 eggsA spare power supply

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-450RM 450W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: It literally is a spare, for a future build that may or may not provide adequate wattage. But we will see how it goes. I'm looking at returning the famed I7 3770 4 core CPU to service in a basic storage/spare PC build with many existing parts. So this power supply will not go to waste.

Cons: I have since moved on in buying new large Gold certified or platinum certified power supplies for the recent monster build last winter. Three times the wattage, two dedicated CPU plugs etc. If I needed to put the spare on the monster, My only hope that firing just what is needed to fire the thing it will carry me over until it can be replaced. But it is a small power supply relatively speaking and we will see how it goes. I may even use it for CB Base station. That would do it. We will see.

Other Thoughts: I bought this pack trying to solve a problem with a older build and it's failing power supply. I will be purchasing yet another larger power supply next month to solve that build's failing supply (Corsair 850 approaching 6 years service, nursing it along with old connections I think is failing at the SATA bends behind the hard drive connections...)

It is a nice spare. But I will be more encouraged when I pick up yet another monster from the Seasonic Series which has earned my undying loyalty to the point of excluding all other power supplies.

One last parting thought. Those of you may be tempted to throw down 40 bucks for a cheap, cheap non certified power supply from any number of generic no name brands.

Don't. It will burn up in a month or two leaving you with a seriously bent computer requiring a rebuild or replacement.

5 out of 5 eggsGood build

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-450RM 450W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: This is running my NAS 24x7 and has done so for a couple of weeks now. It's a quiet power supply, the fan is not audible over the NAS hard drives.

I really like that it uses the same cabling as my SeaSonic 660XP2 I have in another machine. I can swap cables between them without worry, and they look similar as well. So, a big plus when you use a bunch of different SeaSonics.

Haswell ready, has all the plugs you can imagine. Worked right away on a Supermicro X10SL7-F and Xeon 1231 v3.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: An excellent power supply for a server that needs about 200-230 Watts under full load. Plenty of room for growth without going overboard; consider that a higher powered PSU will have more loss even if it has a higher rating.

5 out of 5 eggsSuper Quiet

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-450RM 450W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: This PSU is so quiet. Although I am using this in the first computer that I ever built, the quality is amazing. I am stoked on the efficency of the unit as it saves power and it feels very well built. The black color is a plus too.

Cons: So far, none. I did regret for a moment not getting a fanless PSU before I ever powered up the computer. Now that it is up and running I can say that I really have no regrets. Combined with an S series Intel CPU, this works perfectly in my mini-itx build, connsidering I plan to buy a video card in the coming weeks and still will have more than enough power.

Other Thoughts: I should have done this a long time ago. Build a computer that is.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU!

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-450RM 450W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Great PSU! I love the fact that it is semi-modular! This makes it really easy to manage cables in any case. I also really love the sleeves they put on the cables, it makes them look really clean!

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I should have bought the 550W for the extra money, but that's something I'm going to have to live with :P If I didn't plan on buying a Video Card then this wouldn't even be a concern haha

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent PSU, as always by Seasonic

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-450RM 450W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: The power supply delivers, is all I can say with the pros. It remains quiet to boot.

Cons: None that I can think of. The flat cables might be a turn off to some for cable routing purposes.

Other Thoughts: I was taking a "gamble" with this power supply, in that I wanted to put my money where my mouth is. This is powering a system that's running a Core i5-4670K @ 4.0GHz and a GeForce GTX 670. Most PSU calculators and people would probably say something like get 600W PSU.

I said "let's go with this" for two reasons. 1. I always measured MUCH lower than I needed off the wall in my previous builds and 2. both the Steam Box prototype by Valve and the Mac Pro use a 450W PSU, despite being high-end machines. Well, plus it's a Seasonic.

And this power supply works like a champ. I say, you don't need to go 600W for a single card gaming rig.

5 out of 5 eggsSeasonic SSR-450RM

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-450RM 450W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Good construction, with the use of Japanese caps. Semi-modular. Flat cables can take up less space if properly routed. Quiet. Transient filter stage includes an MOV. 5 year warranty.

Cons: Quibbles, really. 24 pin and 8 pin ATX cables relatively stiff, and not long enough to route behind the motherboard tray of my Cooler Master HAF 912 when the PSU is mounted with the fan facing up.

Other Thoughts: A good performing, well constructed PSU. Using it for a budget Core i3 build. Well worth the additional $$ for Seasonic's reputation and the 5 year warranty. I refuse to compromise on the PSU.

5 out of 5 eggsGood PSU for a Mini and ITX build

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-450RM 450W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Good PSU for small builds, Powers my Intel 4770K and GTX 760 just fine. Very quite when not under loads. and the short cable give me plenty space inside of my ITX build

Cons: None unless you plan to use it for a full case, or plan on overclocking you processor and video card. At that point you need to look at a higher wattage unit

Other Thoughts: This is great for someone looking for a small build. If your looking to power anything higher than a 760, overclocking, or looking to install this in a full case, I would look else ware
