5 out of 5 eggsGreat so far

This review is from: Seasonic SS-660XP2 ATX 12V / EPS 12V, 660W, 80 PLUS PLATINUM Full Modular certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: - Never had a power issue.

Cons: - It lacks an anti-gravity field.

Other Thoughts: Good buy for a good price. I've never had a single issue. Cool, quiet, and handles power-surges like a boss.

5 out of 5 eggsThe best, Seasonic!

This review is from: Seasonic SS-660XP2 ATX 12V / EPS 12V, 660W, 80 PLUS PLATINUM Full Modular certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Installed this after using a different Seasonic for the last 5-6 years. Zero issues, plenty of cables, ties, etc. Fits right in and quiet.

Cons: I didn't see/experience any.

Other Thoughts: If it last like my older PS (also a Seasonic) and with this one a 'Platinum' I should save some electric $ over time.

4 out of 5 eggsGood product but not perfect.

This review is from: Seasonic SS-660XP2 ATX 12V / EPS 12V, 660W, 80 PLUS PLATINUM Full Modular certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: -Good price when I got it on sale
-Decent packaging but could have been better.
-Stable voltages
-It just works fine
-Easy and smooth installation.
-Upgrading from bronze PSU, GPU and CPU socket no longer whines

Cons: -Not as quiet as I expected it to be.
-Silver instead of black mounting screws.
-Electrical buzzing noises

Other Thoughts: I just have a few nitpicks, they aren't the biggest deal but I'm sure there's people reading these reviews and interested in purchasing this unit who do care. First of all, the product did not come in a plastic wrap or tape seal so that might bother some people who might think that their product was opened. But I am fairly certain that the unit I received was brand new since there weren't any damages and all cables were in a plastic bag. The cables were in a cardboard box instead of the cable bags that I see in the pictures, not sure if Seasonic changed their packaging but it was a little disappointing. The cables were also in a very cheap plastic as they just simply burst and ripped open when I applied very little pressure to open it. One thing I immediately noticed after finishing and getting my computer up and running was that the power supply was making a slight buzzing noise only when my computer is on. The buzzing noise is consistent even on idle and gradual according to the load. This noise can be heard when my ear is 1-2 feet away but I am a little concerned whether this is normal or not. Other than that everything seems to be in working order for the past week and I hope it stays that way.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Seasonic SS-660XP2 ATX 12V / EPS 12V, 660W, 80 PLUS PLATINUM Full Modular certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Works as advertised. Variety of cables. Runs quiet.

Cons: Modular cables are ribbon style instead of sleeved. For the price, it would be nice to have sleeved cables.

Other Thoughts: Expensive unless you get a good deal on it via coupon code/rebate.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic PS

This review is from: Seasonic SS-660XP2 ATX 12V / EPS 12V, 660W, 80 PLUS PLATINUM Full Modular certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Full modular, 80 plus platinum efficiency, plenty of capacity, molex connectors, haswell support.

Cons: Mainboard connectors are a bit tough to connect.

Other Thoughts: Got this to replace an aging 80 plus bronze Supermicro power supply that was causing excessive CPU usage with system interrupts and DPCs. This is my first experience with a full modular power supply and I have been quite pleased with the result so far. The CPU usage problem has been resolved.

I had some trouble plugging in the mainboard connectors though, they just didn't want to snap in place. I was glad this included molex connectors as I have a backplane that still uses them.

This PS has everything I need and then some. I don't care too much about the hybrid fan mode, the noise doesn't concern me so I switched it to normal mode. It's still quiet.

The packaging was very well done and a premium PS deserves as such. This PS comes with carry bags for the PS itself and the cables. Cables I can understand but not sure why the PS itself would have a carry bag. I didn't know power supply parties existed.

While this PS is 80 plus platinum, I didn't really notice any power savings over the bronze, but then again, I don't really challenge my workstation all that often.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate to previous review

This review is from: Seasonic SS-660XP2 ATX 12V / EPS 12V, 660W, 80 PLUS PLATINUM Full Modular certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: + Silent

Cons: - Support model code be a little cleared

Other Thoughts: This is an update to my previous review: http://www.newegg.com/Product/SingleProductReview.aspx?ReviewID=4252985

Last week, I got the server working with the power supply that I thought was faulty. It turns out the reboots may be related to the sata power cable. Cable is completely plugged into PSU but straightening or bending the wire near the PSU connector either allowed the PC to boot, not even turn on, or turn on and get stuck in reboot cycle. Adjusting the wire while in a reboot cycle will end the reboot cycle and allow pc to run. Server has been running for a few days without a reboot.

Will continue to monitor over the next few weeks and see if I can get a replacement cable.

Support is there. Just wish they could be more responsive. Looks like I will keep a spare PSU in case I have problems with a critical machine.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works

This review is from: Seasonic SS-660XP2 ATX 12V / EPS 12V, 660W, 80 PLUS PLATINUM Full Modular certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Rebate paid with no hassle! (rare these days)
I like the fully modular style, as it minimizes the cable mess. There is also a good selection of cables for whatever components are in use.
I have not tried the hybrid mode which keeps the fan off until needed, but the regular mode is inaudible. Having a near silent case, even when gaming is awesome.

My 2500K/GTX970 system uses about 20W less when gaming, and 8w less when idle compared to before, with an older 80+ bronze supply. The elecrical savings aren't significant, but my airflow is much better with the Seasonic's cables.

Cons: None that I have found.

Other Thoughts: I am happy that Seasonic pays their rebates. Others which don't pay, do not get repeat business.

2 out of 5 eggsDied within 10 months and no response from Seasonic

This review is from: Seasonic SS-660XP2 ATX 12V / EPS 12V, 660W, 80 PLUS PLATINUM Full Modular certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: + Quiet

Cons: - Support is non-existant

Other Thoughts: Purchased for use in my new Xeon 1230 v3 in Apr 2014. Server randomly rebooted from time to time so UPS was added. Problem went away and reboots became a rarity.

Back in Jan, server began rebooting randomly. Problem worsened to the point that the only "fix" was to turn off the machine and then flip the PSU power switch off & on. By end of Jan, machine would reboot continuously and fix did not work anymore so I turned it off. A week later, machine would not even turn on even though the motherboard got power (lights turned on and ethernet port lights would blink). Plugged up a lower wattage PSU and machine booted just fine and ran without a reboot for about a day. Tried this PSU again but machine would not boot.

Contacted Seasonic USA support via phone (left messges) and sent emails 3 weeks ago and still do not have a response or anything acknowledging they got my support issue. I would buy a Corsair but Seasonic is an OEM for them as well. Really a shame as I primarily bough Seasonic PSUs for my machines. Really disappointed by the lack of support and responsiveness.

Manufacturer Response:

HI Charles, I do apologize for the inconvenience both the faliure of the unit and the lack of response has caused you. Please note, the best wasy to proceed with RMA is to visit our site at www.seasonicusa.com and there you can do the RMA directly. Please note, calling Sea Sonic office will only direct you to the web RMA processing and there is very little tech support we can provide over the phone. Please let me know to which e-mail did you write to where you did not have a response. Perhaps it ended up in the SPAM folder, we will need to control this. Please write to us at: newegg@seasonicus.com and we will respond within 36 hours. Thank you.
