5 out of 5 eggsNice Gold PSU

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-360GP 360W ATX12V v2.31 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: This is my first SeaSonic, but I've been happy with it. I was looking for a PSU that supports the Haswell low power state and was Gold rated. This power supply nicely does this, and at a low price! I'm also very happy with how quiet it is, even though the airflow in my case is not at all ideal.

Cons: This has lots more cables than I need and my case is very small, so I ended up having to block one of my case fans with all the cables (including cables from other components). I could have paid a lot more for a modular unit to help out, but I'm still glad I didn't.

5 out of 5 eggsLower wattage highly efficient

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-360GP 360W ATX12V v2.31 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Bought this unit for my Dad's computer. Old FSP power supply had cheap china caps that failed.

I was looking for a high efficiency, lower wattage unit with quality components. This PSU fit the bill.

Cons: I have nothing bad to say about this PSU right now.

Other Thoughts: It is quiet and has been working fine behind my Dad's UPS.

4 out of 5 eggsMay require an adapter cable (not included) for modern systems

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-360GP 360W ATX12V v2.31 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Efficient PS for a modern, low voltage HTPC system. ATX Form Factor

Cons: Could not connect 3 SATA devices in my CORSAIR R200 case. The 3 devices were: a SDD, a HDD and a Blu-Ray burner. Per case design, each of these items were mounted in a different area of the case, but only separated by a few inches. The burner up top, the SSD middle, and the HDD bottom and sideways. The two cables with two SATA connectors each would not reach to the 3 different areas. Luckily, I had a Molex to SATA power adapter cable from a previous CORSAIR power supply purchase. It was able to use it with the Molex supply line to power my 3rd device.

Other Thoughts: SeaSonic - how about including a Molex to SATA power adapter cable in the box like CORSAIR does with their units? Or, making the spacing between the connectors on the same power supply line a bit larger for modern case designs. New cases have changed a bit with the inclusion of SSDs. Since this unit will power a modern Haswell CPU, perhaps the cabling should be updated also....

5 out of 5 eggsReduces power consumption

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-360GP 360W ATX12V v2.31 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: I replaced an Antec power supply with this SeaSonic Gold Certified PS in an existing home server and my idle power consumption dropped by 15 watts. I also swapped out 6 smaller hard drives to two 4TB green drives and cut idle power by another 40 watts.

Cons: none so far.

4 out of 5 eggsGood power supply

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-360GP 360W ATX12V v2.31 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Quiet, energy efficient

Cons: The description says the cables are "detachable" and "semi-modular", but this power supply has standard cables, which the box and images in the Newegg listing also state.

Other Thoughts: Not much to say about a power supply. It is quiet, and according to the specs it is very efficient.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Zeke,

I am sorry about the confusion about the cabling. The 360w unit you have purchased is with normal cabling. I have checked the NewEgg description and though it did not say it is Detachable DC Cables, it also did not specify it is normal cabling. Maybe this is the confusion caused as the 450w version of the same series with is detachable cabling. Thank you and again, sorry for the confusion over this matter.

5 out of 5 eggsVery well built

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-360GP 360W ATX12V v2.31 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Heavy (This is good!)
PCIe cable
quiet
low power consumption compared to bronze rated PSUs

Cons: They did not offer a modular option. This would be nice because most people dont need both sata cables.

I have the PCI and molex cables un hooked and would rather remove them if the psu was modular.

Other Thoughts: I bought this psu to replace a raidmax 530W (bronze rated). My idle power went from 56W to 40W with just a PSU change. The lower wattage brings me closer to peak efficiency and this one is gold rated. I am very satisfied.

The fan on the psu is quiet enough to where it added no extra noise to my system

A8 APU
Asrock micro ATX a75
8gb gskill
3 hard drives
40W idle.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-360GP 360W ATX12V v2.31 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: it's a Seasonic so it exudes quality
lots of zip ties and 3 Velcro cable straps. very nice touch
good value at least to me anyway.
cable length is good for mid-towers but........

Cons: cables are a little too long for micro cases, but manageable
not available in modular, but hey can't have everything

Other Thoughts: there are alternatives, but Seasonic gives me piece of mind

5 out of 5 eggsVery efficient

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-360GP 360W ATX12V v2.31 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Very quiet, stable power supply. Case even runs a bit cooler than replaced PS.

Cons: Only (minor) con is 4 pin motherboard connector had to be carefully inserted and lock manually pushed in for full connector contact on Gigabyte H55 motherboard. Cable lengths and connectors nicely laid out, and all other connectors engaged as they should.

Other Thoughts: Replaced Rosewill (LC-8400btx) PS that came with case with Seasonic. Power consumption was reduced ~21+% under idle and prime load (64W, 115W vs 53W, 94W) on W7 I3-530 OClocked machine using CPU video. This PS is much quieter than the inexpensive, pretty quiet 3 year old Rosewill. The Seasonic is on the lower end power output of PS's sold, but is plenty for most systems without large power hungry video cards. Sizing PS for efficiency one wants the PS output to be in the 40%+ range, since efficiency increases in the middle and upper power ranges, so really 1000w power supplies are pretty unnecessary and less efficient for most users. wikipedia and other web resources discuss this in detail.

5 out of 5 eggsDrop in power use

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-360GP 360W ATX12V v2.31 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Got this to replace the Corsair CX430 supply in my NAS (the older model that was only 80plus rated). Load power usage dropped ~25% - from ~125w to ~92w, which is only 10w higher than the idle power use with the old supply. Definite pro, since this was the only real reason for switching supplies.

Quiet, no fan noise or coil whine over the drives or other fans in the system.

Peak wattage a fair amount higher than 360w. Combined with all that load could be on the 12v rail, and this could be a handy supply for HDD based file servers.

Cons: A bit on the pricier side, but I was willing to pay it for a gold rated supply as well as Seasonics reported reputation.

Cables are a bit stiff.

Other Thoughts: Guess I should note I don't have the proper equipment to test power supplies the right way, but it hasn't fried yet.

Used in the following system:
AMD Sempron 140
4GB RAM DDR2
5x2TB Hitachi 7200RPM drives, 1x40gb WD 5400RPM drive
6 120MM fans, 1 140mm fan (all low RPM)
Intel gigabit PCI NIC

Wattage reading took from UPS during sustained file transfer plus file search.

1 out of 5 eggsNoisy son-of a-gun!

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-360GP 360W ATX12V v2.31 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Works fine. No problems hooking up.

Cons: It is a noisy son-of-a-gun! I can hear it two rooms away!

Other Thoughts: I would never purchase another SeaSonic Power Supply if they're all this loud.
