2 out of 5 eggs3 years then POP

Pros: Had my power supply running everyday for 3 years, 4 months, 14 Days strong I turn off my computer at night when not in using the BEAST so I can get some sleep, the next morning I turn it on all I hear is LOUD POP I disconnect the power cord I knew what that pop since I have a windowed gaming case the power supply Exploded/POP on me lucky it didn't start a fire but that smell when I opened my case up burning electronics smell. Lets Hope SeaSonic Honors 7 Years warranty they claim the reason why I bought this I paid the full retail when it first came out EXPENSIVE!! but one of the few Platinum power supply fully modular at the time hell I still have PC Power and Cooling S75QB 750W I bought in 2007 running like a CHAMP!

Cons: Not fun waking up hearing a LOUD POP coming from your gaming computer case scared the day lights out of me, I never in all my years of gaming had a power supply Exploded/POP before it does happen people!

Other Thoughts: expect a BANG! when you least expect it!

2 out of 5 eggsFailed at 3 years

Pros: Less cable clutter with modular unit. Handled anything I threw at it for a few years. At one point I used my desktop as a home server for about 6 months and it ran 24/7 with no issues at all.

Cons: The last couple of months when I would boot up, sometimes I'd get no response from the PSU. I'd have to unplug (from the outlet) and let it sit for a little while. Finally today, it never came back on. I installed a back up unit I had from an older system, baby girl booted right up..

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte Ultradurable mobo, AMD 8150, 32 Gigs G-Skill Sniper Series, EVGA GTX 970, Kingston SSD, WD Black 1.5 TB, and (right now) no power supply... I really liked the Seasonic, but I think I might go with something else to replace it. I have a Win98 box with a AT PSU that still works, why after three years does a modern unit fail? Kept in climate controlled environment the entire time.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Matt, I am sorry to read that your power supply has failed. I hope you have RMA'ed the item and the issue is now resolved. We try our best to ensure top quality, performance and lifetime but occasionally items can fail but we will do our best to rectify the issue for you. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at: newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you.

2 out of 5 eggsIntermittent to total failure after two years

Pros: Worked well, for about two years...

Cons: Started failing, rarely at first, then more and more often until it wouldn't turn back on at all.

Other Thoughts: Disappointed that a high end unit would fail. I spent the extra money so I wouldn't have to deal with the hassle of disassembling, testing, reassembling, having another fail, more of the same, going through the RMA process, shipping etc. Still, I suspect they are good units over all, so your mileage may vary.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Brian, Sorry for the inconvenience. Please note, according to the symptoms... this can also be the issue of the VRM on the MB failing. I am glad you started the RMA process and if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggsRock Solid PSU

Pros: Reliable
Efficient
Beautiful
Easy to Use

Cons: Length of some of the cables designed to reach the top-of-motherboard components could be a few inches longer. Really had to run the power line for my CPU super tight to make it fit on my 2011 v3 build.

Other Thoughts: Even though I'm left wondering how much of the price tag is paying for the immaculate, sometimes overdone packaging that would make the package marketers over at Crown Royale sweat a little, this PSU is incredible. It will provide ample power for my big build down the road, and it's nice having a confident feeling i won't have to worry about it failing for years. I was always told never to skimp on my PSU, and I'm glad I didn't. Plenty of connections, PLENTY of cables included, don't worry about buying any unless you've got 2 CPUs, 4 GPUs and a bunch of hard drives.

5 out of 5 eggsSeaSonic Platinum-1000W 80 PLUS PLATINUM review

Pros: It has always been extremely quiet and cool. I have yet to come close to the necessary wattage. I was able to turn the psu on its side and had no issues with heat. It survived a motherboard short circuit and protected the rest of the components( I believe at least since none seem harmed). I purchased this power supply last September and its been installed since late October of 2014. Fully modular power is a luxury when building or adding components. The carrying case is a very nice touch in addition to the rugged cable storage bag. To give reference to how quiet the power supply is; I had to see if the fan was moving to know if it was on or not.

Conclusion:
If this is within your budget range and you actually need the high wattage I would highly recommend it. It has been nothing, but high quality.

Cons: There seemed to be a toxic smell that lingered for awhile, but I think it has filtered out after a years use. The plastic around the

Other Thoughts: Because I haven't been able to come within 400 watts of the cap it may not be fair to rate it based on temperature or noise.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU

Pros: Queit, efficient, legendary warranty backing ... everything a power supply should be.

Cons: I got this at a great price, but it's still on the expensive side. Not really a con, since it's worth the price.

Massive overkill for my my PC (which never breaks 400w) but I like knowing I have more than enough headroom to ensure stability, even if I scale the computer up.

Other Thoughts: SeaSonic is a great manufacturer who cares about their product.

5 out of 5 eggs# yrs later

Pros: I like everything about it honestly. It is quiet, provides good clean power, the cables are sheathed nicely and its had 0 problems after 3 years.

+ the bag the cables come in is a nice bonus. It quickly became my tool stash bag.

Cons: I can't think of any.

5 out of 5 eggsTwo years later, still going strong.

Pros: I have had this PSU in my system for over two years. Since November 2012 to be exact. I put it under a pretty high workload, with a 3930k, two GTX 680's, seven HDD's, etc...

It never runs hot, the fan still spins quietly, the cables it came with have held up well wih no signs of fraying or problems after two years and several reconfigurations.

My system stays on 24x7 and while I would sure love to have a little less power used, this does about as well as possible in efficiency. I am super happy with my PSU, and would gladly buy one again if I were building a new system.

Cons: After two years I really am unable to find anything I don't like about this particular PSU. Though, it never cooked me breakfast which is kind of rude considering how much time I've spent with it.

1 out of 5 eggsFollow up review

Pros: Seasonic offered to prepay shipping for RMA round 2. Obviously not my system, as I have a backup Antec Quattro from 2008 (makes my x79 build 100% stable.)

Cons: This was my first Seasonic psu.
